Still a load of garbage' date=' though! :D[/quote']

sort of like you... :dozey: Kanye isn't garbage..... he's got talent. Its what hiphop is all about.

The Hip Hop/R&B scene in the States has become saturated in recent years - all this "bling" garbage, videos full of naked women etc. It has become far too commercialised.

It was much better in the old days when it was cutting edge (Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash etc.).

Now it's just become "sellout" like everything else, which is a great shame! :(

And if anything, a lot of people who follow it are like the U.S. equivalent of chavs (all baseball caps and designer gear etc.).

There are a few good rap/R&B artistes (such as Mary J. Blige), but they are unfortunately few and far between.

It's possible that Kanye is one of the better ones, but there is so much drivel that it spoils everything. It's "the sound" in general.

"Hate It Or Love It" by The Game ft. 50 Cent was great though, as was "So What's The Fuss" by Stevie Wonder. Then again, Stevie Wonder is an absolute legend.

this isnt HipHop at all.... true hiphoppers know that... ;)

So what is, then? Isn't Kanye a part of all that? I know he produces a lot of those guys' material...................like Usher, for example?? He seems extremely full of himself!!

ok, i agree that it has become increasingly hard to find decent hip-hop music to listen to, especially with the terrible popularity of such crap like the ying-yang twins, lil john, cash money records etc etc...that stuff is terrible.

Now how could you accuse Kanye of being one of that group of disposable artists? Not only has he become instrumental in the crafting of one of the new hiphop legends, Jay Z (via mostly production, and his own success alone), as well as align himself with the best and brightest of decent rap today (Common- new album BE is incredible, Talib Kweli- possibly the best unheard voice in hip hop for the past decade, Mos Def- yea hes goofy and he has the acting thing going on, but he is still very worthy of people's attention, plus Kanye has brought John Legend to the world, who has made a classic r&B style relevant in this short attention span music industry....plus I'd wait a few more months people, Lauryn Hill is comin back with the help of guess who...Kanye West.

I think its atrocious that anyone would even think to group Kanye with those other short-bus rappers as mentioned above. Did you not hear Jesus Walks? All Falls Down? or how bout Two Words, nah probably not cause it seems you may have sadly dismissed his album from the get-go cause it was "rap"

please give it another serious shot, doubters

But aren't the likes of Jay-Z, Usher etc. still as guilty as all the rest for making those awful videos and hyping up the scene? I've seen a few of them and they all seem to be full of jewellery and writhing, scantily-clad girls. You could be right about Kanye, and John Legend sounds pretty decent, I must admit. I also love Alicia Keys - she is extremely talented.

But a lot of them all seem to have sold out with their ostentatious lifestyles, stretch limos, designer labels etc.

And don't worry - if Coldplay started acting like this, I probably wouldn't like them, either!!

see now wakedemon is on my wavelength... *high fives*

To appeciate an artist like Jay Z, you had to have liked him since the begining back in late 93 and 95 when he first broke out.. lyrically. He didnt didnt start blinging out til recently... true hiphop is old school... its the basi four elements that make up the 'hiphop culture'.. see hip hop is a brand of music.. its a culture... rap is part of that culture.
