Alex Turner played a surprise set tonight (November 19) at the Mencap Little Noise Sessions.

 

Taking place at Islington Union Chapel the Arctic Monkeys man performed a seven-song set which featured two new untitled songs.

 

Turner's set also included the Arctic Monkeys hits 'Fluorescent Adolescent', 'Secret Door' and current single 'Cornerstone'. Accompanied by a keyboardist, Turner was also joined on stage by his bandmate Jamie Cook who played on the tracks 'Secret Door' and 'Cornerstone'.

 

Headlining the event was Richard Hawley whose set featured the songs 'Born Under A Bad Sign', 'Serious', 'Open Up The Door', 'Ashes On The Fire', 'For Your Lover Give Some Time' and a cover of Elvis Presley's 'Crawfish'.

 

Later in the set Hawley then brought back on Alex Turner introducing him as "The lizard of lounge," before the pair played the Arctic Monkeys song 'Only Ones Who Know'.

Yeah, and I saw the article about LP4... Let's hope those two songs are decent enough. I wonder if anyone on the Arctic Monkeys forum knows about them any more...

My favourite band ever! They're unusual. I love 'potion approaching', 'i bet you look good on the dancefloor' and 'mardy bum' the most. Alex got groovy hair, haha :D

you'll be surprised at how many fans of the band love that song. technically speaking it might not be their best effort but lyrically its pretty strong and has a nice melody.

well good luck with that. they are easily one of the best bands of the decade. each of their 3 records are flawless and unique in their own way.

 

they plan on heading back into the studio over the next few months to quickly write and record their next album. if all goes to plan we might have a new AM album as early as the end of the year.

that's good news.

just downloaded whole 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not' album. Lets see how it goes.
