Here is another very cool item...

 

This CD was named "The Fir Trees, Album" for anti-piracy. Parlophone/EMI wanted to keep this CD out of the wrong hands and more important off of the internet. This is the pre-release acetate for X & Y. The release of this album, Coldplay's third full length album, was back then thought to make or break the band. With a release so important, Parlophone/EMI went to great lengths in keeping this CD off of music/file sharing websites before the albums release. There is even a security seal on the plastic cover and a warning about pre-release abuse on the reverse. They had to get the music out to all the major music reviewers but still had to hide the fact of what it really was just in case it were to fall into the wrong hands. It's a great piece of Coldplay history!

 

This disc is very special because it has a very low number. # 0003 it was originally sent to "Nathan Bracket" of External US

Cool Coldplay item of the day...

 

There are some very cool pieces of memorabilia too. Here is a t-shirt from a secret gig in Amsterdam during the Twisted Logic Tour. Due to the size of the venue and attendance there were only 500 of these shirts produced making this shirt very rare and hard to find. It is in new condition and has never been worn. It remains stored in this plastic box with the original sales bag with X & Y logo. Also included are the 2 wristbands from that show.

It does not take up that much space. I have 4 large size "ZipLock" brand storage containers That are about 22" x 16" x 10". 2 of them are filled with CDs (photo)

 

 

Then I have the other 2. One holds all the LPs, the other with memorabilia. Then I have 3 large poster tubes for all the Concert/Promo Posters. The only thing that sits out is the framed Live 2003 japan promo.

 

After about 15 more CDs and I'll have to start a 3rd CD container.

I can't do a "lay out" shot of CDs anymore. They don't fit into frame. I would have to go outside, lay them out and get up on the roof to get the shot and you wouldn't be able to make out what each one is. So that last photo posted is my "lay out" shot.

Cool Coldplay item of the day- 4/6

 

The X & Y Global Communication Strategy advance promo. If you're like me and you surf the web looking for rare Coldplay CDs you have probably seen this CD selling for anywhere from $100.00 USD to $200.00 USD. When I first saw this CD I thought wow there must be some really cool rare music on this one. I found out there isn't any music at all. A Coldplay CD without music?? So I picked one up anyway.

This CD contains a PowerPoint presentation that Parlophone put together about the release of X & Y. It's actually pretty cool. Within the presentation there are unseen pictures and information about the band. They cover what areas they were to release the album first. What types of people buy Coldplay music. You can tell the release of X & Y was an important one with this CD and "The Fir Trees Album" pre release.

Needless to say there aren't many of these CDs floating around. Because of its rareness and what it contains is why it sells at such a high price. Plus the fact that this CD was never intended to fall into our hands. I think it's cool.
