Well........what do you think abotut he rules in your country according to smoking in public?

Are they too rigid...........or just the other way round?

I read a discussion about it in the newspaper today..............shall smoking in public be forbidden?Well.....................here in Germany you are not allowed to smoke at stations.....and I think some restaurants but I'm not sure about that....................I think as long as the smokers don't disturb non-smokers then it's ok.......but in a restaurant it's unavoidable that smokers disturb the others........but as we all know..............it's interesting to hear a smokers opinion and a non-smoker's opinion!

In Holland I think you're not allowed to smoke in public places. But you are allowed to smoke in restaurants, they usually have a non-smoking section. I think the rules are fine (i'm a non-smoker) but my mum has astma, and the smoke really annoys her. When I go out, I always smell like smoke afterwards, but I don't really care/mind.

Here you have to be in smoking area if you want to smoke, but people and waiters don't respect that. well... as long as the smokers aren't blowing smoke directly into my face, i don't really mind if they smoke in public places.

I mind going out and coming back home stinking of cigerettes. People can smoke if they want, I don't care, just not in my face!

You can't smoke in puplic here, thank goodness, I hate the smell of smoke.

here there's a rule that it's illegal to smoke in public places, since it's unhealthy for the public. However the law doesn't really seem to work since there really isn't an enforcment method (is that right? i checked the dictionary)... so ppl smoke since no one will do anything against them. Usually if it bothers someone he would just ask... that's how it is at malls and places like that

 

however there are places like resturants that if someone smokes they would tell him not to... and places where no one ever smokes like buses for example...

 

i'm a non smoker, sometimes smoking bothers me sometimes it doesn't. What bothers me the most are the cigarrette buds that make the streets so dirty :angry:

As long as I'm not forced to be around it, I don't care where people smoke. I think that here in the U.S. it is being banned pretty much in all public places (except bars)...I'm not sure, though.

the rules are flexible here, you're allow to smoke in restaurants but only in the smoking-section, smoking is not forbidden in public places

i would say if i'd be depressed : at least they'll die earlier,if they smoke,so they get what they deserve,motherfuckers...but i'm not depressed...and i would never say this for real

it's allowed in some places and maybe will be at even more places, i really don't care they can smoke in my face,wherever and however they want...same situation with mobile phones,if someone speaking on it in a bus for example it's really disturbing,but we can't change,because we don't want...

so if smokers want smoke they can do wherever they want to do it

well, people are still allowed to smoke in public places here in germany ... but they have some rules in some restaurants ... i actually don't mind. i don't think it's disturbing but maybe it seems disturbing to others ...

what do you expect? should they go around and ask everybody if it's okay if they smoke?

They can retreat to a more remote place to smoke, not in the center of a bus station shelter.

Nik, dont you think its a bit heavy? of course it damages your health, and its your own fault if you smoke, but it isnt some sorta criminal act where they deserve a bad fate like dieing. we arent talking about killing or stealing here, just smoking...

 

as long as ppl dont smoke in unauthorised areas, and not in anyones faces (like my friend loves to do... lol) then il be fine with it...

i know it's heavy,Bonnie,but as i said:i would never say it for real,but sometimes it's really annoying when smokers don't care with non-smokers...why should i care with them then?

of course thats annoying when smokers do it in front of non-smokers, but not everyone does that. i try to make sure i am courteous when i do it...

I don't have to smoke because at school I get enough second hand smoke to last me through the day :rolleyes: what really annoys me is when they don't care and at school they don't care. It's really funny when someone walks in front of someone, and it happens to everyone at school including myself that as you're walking to class the person or two people in front of you light up a cigarrette and blow it all in your face. ...

I hate it if you are sitting in a restaurant and somebody next to you begins to smoke while you are eating WITHOUT ASKING!A friend of mine did this some years ago....I was really upset...I was eating and she blew the smoke right into my face......:dozey:

amost all my friends smoke but they ask and most of the time I saw they can smoke but shouldn't blew the smoke in my face!

In Ireland its illegal to smoke in public places. I think its great. I mean, I dont smoke, and its great to be able to go to a restaurant and not having someone smoking beside you.

I mean all my friends are smokers....I let them smoke when I eat....I go out with them when they smoke....I say NOTHING against them!Ha..........and it is no problem for me that you can smoke at public places here in germany......the ONLY thing I hate is if they blew it in my face....but that's a question good behaviour!:wink::smug:

I hate it when I go to a bar and when I come back home, all my clothes and my hair and everything smells smoke.. and especially in smaller places, like in pubs, it's really annoying to be there in the middle of smoke, it makes me caugh and my eyes wet because I myself don't smoke.. but I don't really complain because otherwise I'm having a good time and it's my own choice to go there.

Right.....I also don't want to complain...it's my own decision....but I don't like if all my clothes smell lika a cigarette.....

mist horrible thing is when i was out in the evening and have to sleep in my smoke smelling hair.....

and if my eyes begin to burn by the smoke....sometimes a reason to go home...
