I agree. How do we know she actually tried it, or if she is being paid big money to spread the word?

I took a quick look at that site, and it looks like you need to take pills to follow this program? How can she promote something like this?

This is so commercial. And cheap. It 'cures' everything that most people suffer with: weight, depression... So everyone thinks: I need to try this. All about the money...

Don't like it either.

yeah...i look the site too...you have to take pills...it's iINSANE and is a HORRIBLE MESSAGE for all of us. Shame on you Gwyneth

I hate it when she blogs about liquid diets! They are NOT healthy, no matter how hard she looks to find a doctor who says they are.

I also hate this "excess pounds" talk. She is too skinny to start with so to say she needs to lose the pound or two she put on whilst eating healthily is just stupid.

I like Gwyneth and like GOOP. She is a very intelligent lady, but saying stuff like this is just plain dumb.

Impressionable young women read her blog.

I'm too lazy to read that full Goop, and after reading the past 4 comments I'm really not gonna bother!!! She should stick to fashion, travel, cooking, I can even deal with the "Be" crap, but she really should stop the diet talk. Not only it's stupid itself but it makes her looks stupid.

I dropped the extra pounds that I had gained during a majorly fun and delicious “relax and enjoy life phase” about a month ago

Extra pounds?? She is way too thin! What an example is this for young girls, who want to be just like her :(

I like Gwyneth, but she shouldn't spread rubbish like this, and she should be aware of the fact that she is a role model for a lot of young girls.

Chris, you have got to talk with your woman! :P

Ha, Chris won't be much help. He also thinks he's fat and has a "belly" when he clearly does not.

They're both mad

Hehe, and in that last interview he claimed to be totally normal...

I didn't think so, boy!

Haha. He must have been joking. He's as far away from normal without being clinically insane as it's possible to be.

And I mean that in the best way possible :P

But yes, he seems to share the negative body image that she does...thankfully he just works out and stays away from fatty foods, rather than take part in absolutely ridiculous diets.

Sigh.

You best have a brilliant cookie recipe or something to redeem yourself next week, Paltrow.

But yes, he seems to share the negative body image that she does...

Ow, he shouldn't. To me, his body is just perfect :wacky: *fangirl*

oy, "detoxing". Between this and promoting Tracy Anderson's completely inane, bogus "method" my brain just goes into spasms.

I support fully eating healthy, and not putting chemicals or pesticides in your body. Heck, I am a vegan, so I'm even not opposed to avoiding certain foods. but even talk of liquid diets and "detoxes" to lose weight and "cleanse" is just garbage. you lose weight because youre cutting calories on these liquid vegetable smoothie diets. The liver already does a fantastic job of detoxification, you dont need to deprive your body of solid food for it to be able to work.

And now I need to add onto more of what I've been learning about Tracy Anderson...

Having trained in the last 4 months with actual certified personal trainers and then going back to compare their methods that have resulted in a 25 pound weight loss for me, to Tracy's method that she talked about on Oprah last year...

ive learned that her exercise program is based on no actual knowledge of human physiology (she's said things like your abs naturally separate in your 30s - lol, no) and that she simply plays off of women's fears of adding "manly bulk" which is impossible without manly amounts of testosterone. I cannot believe she actually said "no woman should ever lift more than 3 pounds" on Oprah, but she did.

Utter crap. Lets see how doing shoulder presses with literally no weights for 80-100 repetitions strengthens those muscles down the road compared to doing them with 10 pound weights 20-30 times. She also advises doing abdominal exercises everyday when just like every other muscle group it needs a days rest to recover and rebuild to see any results.

people lose weight on her program because of diets she puts them on that consist occasionally of lunches of 2 celery sticks with 2 tsp almond butter, and the 1 hr intense cardio exercise that is part of her super-duper "method" If i can find the link to the diet she advised for losing 20 lbs in 2 months, I'll post it. Basically though, it was like an anorexics food diary. Some days, there were no snacks and I dont think the total calories exceeded 500. That combined with 2 hours of exercise is unhealthy for the body, shuts down the metabolism, sets people up for failure and only makes losing weight harder in the future.

Basically, I'm not saying this just to shit all over Tracy Anderson. It's more out of concern that anyone here may take her methods as gospel since she has thin celebrity clients, one of which we are particularly interested in here, and impliment it into their own life. Please, if you want to trim down, don't follow any of these fads - whether its Tracy's "method" or these detoxes and liquid diets.

Eat reasonably - dont cut calories down below 1200 - and exercise regularly, do your cardio, don't be afraid to work your muscles - building muscle helps burn fat at a faster rate since muscles consume more energy, thereby raising your metabolism. Not to mention the other ways that strong muscles support your entire body. Eat and exercise in a way that is possible to continue for the rest of your life - crash dieting only leads to weight roller coasters and feelings of failure, unhappiness. Adapt to a healthy lifestyle, stick with it, and health will follow.

Krystyna you should give some diet and exercise advise to Mrs Martin instead of that Anderson chick :dozey:

this program allowed me to work and exercise regularly, something I cannot do if I am on a liquid-only detox.

Yes, and do you know why you can't exercise on a liquid-only detox Gwynnie? It's because your body is taking in so few calories, that if you were to exert any energy, your body would probably go into shock and you would pass out. I'm sorry, I have tried very very hard to like Gwyneth, but sometimes that woman can just be so damn stupid.

^^ True that !

Same here, I quite like Gwyneth, but she has to stop with this stupid diet !! That's her side "Hollywood star" :dozey:

Another thing I forgot to add about Tracy's talk - when she talks about making anyone super tiny, she constantly talks about how her program 'elongates' muscles.

Where your muscles connect to your bones is determined at birth. Whether they are "long" or "short" cannot be changed through any exercise program. yes, you can improve flexibility, but not how they will actually connect to the bone. Gwyneth and Chris as you can tell, have those long muscles naturally.

Tracy likes to promise the same sort of look for EVERYBODY, when really, if you want to get into shape you have to be happy with the bone and muscle structure you were given. Love how your body is put together or you'll never be pleased with the results because you'll keep expecting to achieve some celebrity's muscle and bone structure.

Also, tracy likes to say that her clients "eat anything" but when you see that she advises such a low calorie diet for weight loss, you see that its just another scam to try to sell you her exercise miracle 'method'.

Krystyna you should give some diet and exercise advise to Mrs Martin instead of that Anderson chick :dozey:

Trust me, sometimes I just want to grab her by the shoulders and give her a little shake, tell her she is gorgeous and to forget about all the diet programs that con artists try to sell her. 5 pounds here or there does not suddenly make her obese, or mean that she needs to deprive herself of ordinary healthy foods to go on some liquid cleanse, or 500 calorie a day diet. There are healthier ways to shed those few pounds anyway if she absolutely must, but its never healthy to do it overnight.

Yeah and everyone knows it goes on. 20 something actresses desperate to make it, obsessed with their career...

But when you're late 30's and a mother it should stop, especially when your career has supposedly taken a back seat. And if she insists on doing it, don't advise others to do the same...and especially don't dress it up as some sort of detoxification...

Hollywood definitely has set some unhealthy standards for women(men as well in many cases), especially those with acting careers. I read something interesting once that suggested that actresses have to stay extraordinarily slim to look smaller in comparison to male love interests in films. That way, the males look bigger, manlier, stronger on camera, even if theyre quite small themselves in real life.

The crash diets actors and actresses go on to lose weight for films are not usually very healthy methods of losing weight, and regular people should not be trying to emulate their methods. Some of them may do it for their art or to fit in a certain role, but we don't need to worry about that, and I'm just sick of hearing about celebrity diets of cayenne pepper and lemon juice, etc.

Perhaps Gwyneth has only learned these methods and not healthy, normal ones? I do wish she'd not promote them to the non-actress readers of her newsletter though, who could easily be influenced by her star power to try these things for themselves...

Urrrrgh:angry:....

GWYNETH! What she needs is an article about getting therapy when you have negative body issues:dozey:

I want food and clothing stuff. Those are great!!Detox, diet, and therapy things make me ggggrrrr. It's annoying and useless.I don't have to do that to be healthy.Eat healthy stuff, bike, walk to work, whatever.Don't need that stuff and don't have time for it anyways.

glad to see i'm not the only one balking at ANOTHER detox/diet GOOP. the woman needs to stick to what she knows: clothes and recipies. i guess she knows hotels and restaurants too, but most of us can't afford 90% of the places she recommends. i'd really love it if she just stuck to clothes and food, and budget outings that the middle class can afford.

I do like Gwyn, think she is really funny and down to earth ( even though here reality is very differnt to most peoples) but the whole diet blog is just nonsense!

I do have a personal trainer at the moment as I am trying to lose my weight and get toned...she says to me constanltly, eat at least 2 hours before training otherwise you don't have energy and god forbid don't cut out carb of your diet as you will put them on as soon as you start eaten them.

But hey, we don't have to read it and if it makes her happy! Gwyn looks fab, don't know why she is so obbsessed with losing weight which she doesn't have in the first place but guess she won't understand why are we obsessed with Coldplay...LOL

Also, is it just me; or does Chris have dominant genes or what? Both of his kids have his most striking/predominant features.

That's a wonderful thing!!!!! He's beautiful! :heart::heart::heart::wacky::wacky:!!!!!!

And his children are adorable! :wacky:

Paltrow and Law in 'phone-tapping' scandal

Hollywood stars including Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law are at the center of a massive phone-tapping scandal following allegations their voicemail messages were hacked into by a U.K. tabloid.

The actors are among dozens of celebrities, including supermodel Elle Macpherson and PR guru Max Clifford, soccer stars, and leading British politicians whose cell phones were allegedly targeted by the News of the World.

It is claimed some journalists from the newspaper accessed voicemail messages of the rich and famous and listened in in the hope of picking up juicy gossip.

The tabloid's Royal Editor Clive Goodman was jailed for four months in January 2007 for intercepting voicemail messages left on Prince William's phone.

Now British newspaper The Guardian alleges that during the police investigation into Goodman, dozens of other celebrities whose phones were tapped into were also named to cops.

It is claimed that since the probe, News Group Newspapers, which owns the News of the World, has paid out $1.5 million to celebrities in out-of-court settlements in a bid to hush-up the full scale of the phone-tapping scandal.

A News of the World spokesman has declined to comment on the claims.
