Jason Mraz

Featured Replies

Hello, here's another admirer of Jason Mraz. ;)

I sort of got into him because I heard he and James Blunt were supporting each other on their tours back in 2005/2006 and I thought I might give that guy a listen. So I bought his album "Waiting for my rocket to come" and really enjoyed listening to that album now and then. :) Some months ago, I also got "Mr. A-Z" and I was very happy to hear there'd be a new album which I obviously tried to get as soon as it was available. And although I like "We sing, we dance, we steal things", I somehow prefer the older albums, especially "Waiting for my rocket to come" as for my favourite song "The Remedy (I won't worry)". I DO love "Plane" and of course "I'm yours", though. ;)

Finally, in May I'd have had the chance to see him in Munich but by the time my friend and I eventually had decided to go there, the show was already sold out. :( I was pretty down because of that as I'd have loved to see him live, but now I got a second chance as Jason will come back to Germany in September! :) So now I'm going to see him just about five days before the Coldplay gig... I'm really looking forward to autumn! :D

Do you know whether Lisa Hannigan will only support him on his US fall tour? Because I think it'd be just too great if I could see her as an opening act, too. I absolutely adore Damien Rice and never got to see him together with Lisa as she quit the band the day I went to see them... :\

Aww, that's too bad about those tickets selling out. Once I find out he's within 100 mile vicinity, I immediately buy those tickets. He's THAT GOOD. I'm sure he won't disappoint in September. I'm sure you'll LOVE him. :smug: Lucky you that you have 2 concerts w/in a week!! 2 great bands! Not too sure about the Lisa Hannigan thing.. I'm not even sure I know who she is :embarassed:

oooohhh I just found this thread! I looooovvvee Jason! before viva came out i played i'm yours at least 10 times a day! I want him to be bigger in holland but people don't seem to listen!

JM certainly does deserve more attention. He has this talent that only smart people can see.. haha. :wink3: I definitely know he's much bigger everywhere else besides the U.S.A.. :laugh3: He does have a pretty devoted following, though. Many times I've been to a concert of his that sells out very quickly but no one knows who he is. There's a reason his fan following is so devoted.... if you've been to a live performance, you'll know!!

YAY!!!! MORE FANS!!! :P

The newsletter said that Lisa will only be doing Jason's shows until Nashville.

I've never seen Damien nor Lisa so I'm really hoping I can go to the show in NYC.

I can't say I have heard much by Mr Mraz, in fact I have only heard his cover of One Love

So, what did'ja think?

He also does a pretty good cover of "Rocketman" as well as parts of Bob Marley's "3 little birds :) " Youtube them !

I have never listened to a single song of Jason Mraz but i'll be attending one of his concerts in November.

Not for him though, for Lisa Hannigan. She's awesome!

I was wondering if he's worth sticking around for the rest of the night.

OMG, YES!!! Please stick around, and I'm sure you'll have your mind blown!! He's a very personable guy. He does a lot of banter w/ the audience in addition to his songs and it really feels like he belongs on that stage. If you don't stick around for all of the concert, just please do yourself a favor and stick around for at least one song. I'm sure you won't be disappointed! In the meantime, visit the beginning of this thread as I've posted some of his videos. They're awesome. And this man can REALLY put on a live show. I think I may see a show coming up that has Lisa Hannigan as an opener. I've heard good things about her! I can't wait till the concert!

I really enjoy Jason's music. Since the first time I heard The Remedy on the radio, I was hooked. I just saw him at a music festival a few weeks back. Although he wasn't the headlining act, he definitely brought the house down. I had such a great time singing along to all the songs.

And he seems like a very nice guy. A friend of mine waited for him outside his hotel and she managed to get a picture and several autographs.

Aww. What festival was that?

Yeah, he's a very nice guy. I have a picture of him as he was leaving The Roxy in Los Angeles. Also, recently at a gig in LA, there was a line waiting to get in about 12 hours before the gig. So in the afternoon before the concert, he actually sat outside w/ the people in line and played a few songs as well as well as flowed w/ a couple of lucky fans. :shocked2: they were SO excited! here are a few pics of him entertaining the small crowd. :D

He doesn't have much airs about him, does he? He sounds really cool and sweet. Especially the part about serenading the crowd outside the venue :nice:

I know one of his tracks.. Im Yours

this guy sang it to me once while playing guitar :embarassed:

ahhhh i tried to get tickets to radio city music hall on october 10th and they're already sold out on ticketmaster! is 100 bucks worth it for quality seats on stubhub?

I HIGHLY recommend you see him as soon as he's in your area. I can guarantee that any price, really, is worth seeing this guy live. I once put my $35 tickets for his show in Solana Beach, CA on Ebay, and it sold for over $350 (for 2 tix). Though any price is really worth it, do check Craigslist, first, and check back a couple times on ticketmaster. Sometimes people's credit cards get denied and they re-list the ticket. Please, go see this guy. You won't regret it! :smug:

Oh wow, thanks for the advice! I can imagine his shows being really amazing without crazy fans and chaos...just great music! I'll try to order the tickets though because I really want to see him! :)

Except for the occasional crazy fan girlie out there, my experience of seeing over 10 shows has been pretty good. There is a huge mix of people there ranging from about 15-60ish years old. haha. so, I can't say there's really one type of crowd....oh yeah.. but there are mostly girls.. :laugh3: My last concert did sorta feature stuff off his new album, and I did notice a different crowd emerging. And it did get kind of annoying. But, Mr. Mraz always seems to keep people interested and in general people are pretty respectful.

If you ever do get to go, please report back here and tell me what you think! Good luck!

he did a cover of one love?! :stunned: :laugh4:!!

yup, here it is! I had to go to 4 different GAP stores to get the promo CD (plus spend $50 on a jacket that I don't even use :embarassed:) Here's the youtube vid.

He is really funny - check his official website.

And the "I'm Yours" video is so chill.

Going to see him in 19 days, I just can't wait! :)

Being honst, I haven't entirely listened to his new album for a whole while as I thought it just can't be any better than "Waiting for my rocket to come", but some weeks ago, I actually carefully listened to all the new songs and I should say I just love them all now! Especially "Coyotes" and "Details in the fabric". I think Jason's and James's voice fits together quite well! :)

Ooh, I just can't wait to see him live! I wonder how the setlist will be like... Does anybody have any clues?

Btw, it's been confirmed that Ingrid Michaelson will be the support act. I think her songs are quite sweet and she's a worthy "alternative" to Lisa Hannigan. ;)

I bought his album yesterday. I thort it was a good chillout album. With a mix of lots of genres. If he comes to Australia, I'll go see him for sure!

I want to get his b-sides tho.

Ah, Jason Mraz. I got Waiting for My Rocket to Come after hearing the Remedy a long time ago. The whole album is pretty chill though I haven't really listened to it in a while.
