Professor Peedston
Dylan is very, very, very, very good (he put out as many classic albums in the 60s as the Beatles did), but mystical? I'm not even sure what that's supposed to mean.
carpediem
Bob Dylan - No Direction Home Does anyone have an article, or source of where I could find where Chris Martin admits his music was influenced by Bob Dylan. I'm almost sure that I read it somewhere before. May have been The Rolling Stone, but could be wrong. If he did influence him. And you believe it did. I recommend you watch "Bob Dylan - No Direction Home". I think even Bono had also admited that Bob Dylan influenced their music. For Bono it was especially the voice, but its clear his lyrics have to be influenced by Bob Dylan. What a documentary. Kevin

mc_squared
Bob Dylan makes disc jockey debut Bob Dylan makes disc jockey debut Dylan's weekly show airs on Wednesday in the US Music legend Bob Dylan is embarking on a new career, by becoming a regular DJ on US satellite radio service XM. The 64-year-old singer presents Theme Time Radio Hour, an hour-long mix of songs based around a central theme. The first show features songs inspired by the weather and performed by Jimi Hendrix, Judy Garland and Muddy Waters. According to Lee Abrams, chief creative officer at XM, Dylan has "complete creative freedom, both musically and in terms of what he says". "The end result is pretty compelling," he told the BBC's World Service. The first show premieres on Wednesday on XM's Deep Tracks Channel. 'Hand-selected' "A lot of my own songs have been played on the radio, but this is the first time I've ever been on the other side of the mic," said Dylan last year. "It'll be as exciting for me as it is for XM." According to the station, Dylan will not play his own material on the show but "music hand-selected from his personal collection". The singer opened the first New Orleans Jazz Festival at the weekend, where he performed some of his classic hits including Like a Rolling Stone and All Along the Watchtower. Ondes Martenot
New Bob Dylan Album Due in August The times, they are a-modernizin'. According to various reports, Bob Dylan's newest record, Modern Times, will see an August 29 release. (Billboard.com says it's his 44th album!) Track titles include "Ain't Talkin'", "Thunder on the Mountain", "Spirit on the Water", "Workingman's Blues", "When the Deal Goes Down", and "Neddy Moore". Rolling Stone was given a sneak preview of Modern Times, which Dylan produced himself. According to the magazine's website, the record "mixes elements of 2001's Love and Theft - blues variations (think 'Cry a While') and whimsical ballads (think 'Floater') - with the darker, swampier vibe of the Daniel Lanois-produced classics Time Out of Mind and Oh Mercy." http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/news/06-06/13.shtml#bobdylan
