Snow Patrol are poised to eclipse Coldplay as pop's greatest anthem-makers.

What do you all think ?

nae chance :laugh3:

Hell no. There music is completely uninspired.

Snow Patrol are great live, too (I've seen them twice this year), but they will never eclipse Coldplay.;)

haha yeah no offense but i've always found their songs to be extremely dull. that last single they had.... that "shut your eyes and sing to me" one...whatever it is... anyways... god it was horrible! so flat and boring

coldplay is so much better than snowpatrol.. I like them but still I think almost all their songs sounds the same

If not snowpatrol,the INTERPOL can!

Nope, because Snow Patrol's albums have decent singles and a lot of filler. Coldplay just writes amazing music all the way through.

Yea i dont think that will ever happen. Not being bias or anything but Coldplay are great at making anthems.

The first 2 Snow Patrol albums are brilliant, Final Straw was okay, but Eyes Open was below par, full of radio-friendly songs.

below par  twas awesome said

^hahaha! Bellow par, means good right?

I honestly like Snow Patrol but, like Lore said, their songs are bassically all the same, there is varies but take a listen to Warmer Climate (available on the UK bonus edition) and Chasing Cars...I might be delirious but I hear similarites (make sure you listen up to 1;06 of Warmer Climate otherwise you won't understand what I mean)

:P

definitely not !

i like some Snow Patrol songs, but they can never elipse Coldplay

Coldplay are never compared with others because

what ever Chris Martin writes he has nothing to do with other bands and similarities.

he writes each song thinking a lot and if he don't like discards them.

and sometimes he had songs in some sort of his own experiences.

so no way not only now even after no comparision of other bands to Coldplay.

if it exists then its meaningless.

not sure how to follow that one up :)

coldplay>every other band

i really love snow patrol, but no one will ever take coldplays space in my heart. i like snow patrol for different reasons anyway: i feel like i often know exactly what chris is talking about in their songs paired with incredible music, wheras with snow patrol i think theyre talented lyricists though i dont really relate to what they sing about. i also really like the epic and cinematic feel to lots of their songs.

but i dont think theyll ever become as big or as well-loved as coldplay. coldplay are respected musicians with two well-received albums under their belts and theyre (well, chris anyway) celebrities in the music world. i think snow patrol is a few levels below them on the critical scale and the star scale. i would think they would have exploded by now if they were to become like coldplay with sold-out stadiums and paparazzi and insanely amazing online fan boards like this one :P

I can never truely understand why I love Coldplay and can never accept any other musicians as being as good as them. I was never a music girl, in fact before I listened to Coldplay (thus any kind of music) I had no 'special thing' about me I was just normal, and I now sorta has this persona in my school as being the music lover.

But still, I can never understand why it was that one song I heard on an Airplane (Square One) and the one video clip (Talk) I saw that got me into Coldplay, like, sometimes I will love a song, and then go and chack out the artist, but I never like any of their other songs, but with Coldplay, I couldn't get enough, it was like 'These guys are amazing' and before I even knew what they looked like (C'mon, they're all gorgeous), I loved them....you know, music wise.

I think that is abit unreachable for them. They are really crap band.

and did som1 call coldplay pop.im angry now:veryangry:

Pop.

I like to pop balloons.

Held by little children.

As said before, Snow Patrol is rather good, and I enjoy listening to certain songs, but they are somewhat all alike, therefore taking away the possibility for them to be better than Coldplay.

Yeah coldplay is for sure a rock band. I think the term pop implies a level of shallowness or a lack of good writing.

I find myself only really liking Snow Patrol when they are trying to sound like Coldplay. I think that without Coldplay many of us would not know who Snow Patrol is. At the same time this could be said for a lot of bands. Who knows if we would know who Coldplay are without Radiohead.

I think Chris said one time that Coldplay is just diet Radiohead. If this is true Snow Patrol is definately diet Coldplay.

Those Radiohead comparisons have always confused. I'm not terribly knowledgable about Radiohead...can anyone tell me why they're always linked to coldplay?
