everybody should be free to believe what they want to believe. you believe in God or not. no need to fight about it.

everybody should be free to believe what they want to believe.

For this statement toy work you have to add "as long as it doesn't affect anyone else"

Did I ask too much? More than enough.

You gave me nothing, now its all I got.

In my life

Why do I smile

At people who I'd much rather kick in the eye ?

I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour

But heaven knows I'm miserable now

I've found Heaven, and I have directions too!

Simply take the Eastern Trail to National Avenue, and it's right there at the T-intersection in Mukwonago!:laugh3: It's that simple!

Serving fish on Fridays, and their celestially famous Potato louie Salad.

Phone ahead (Heaven gets packed sometimes) - (262) - 363-5191.

Heaven might be hard to locate, but once you get past the pearly gates, the food is dynamite!:P

Now, does anybody know if there is a place called "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe"??;)

Don't care.

There was an Irish piece of philosophy like "Only two things to care about in life. Whether you are feeling good or bad etc..." that went to "Then the only thing that matters is wether you're gonna go to heaven or to hell. I you go to heaven, nothing to care about. If you go to hell, you're gonna be too damn busy partying with friends to care".

:laugh3:True. Life is what we make of it. We can create circumstances that lead to happiness, or be foolhardy, and it's all a bit of luck and circumstances too boot.

The love you make is equal to the love you take..

Why not just believe God and what He says? He's the one who decides right?

sorry, I'm catholic but not a good one

Why not just believe God and what He says? He's the one who decides right?

Because believe it or not, the existence of said God, and what he says are subject to debate. If you want to make a convincing case, tell people why, instead of asking why not.

Why not just realise God is not real and live a happy life?

Are you proposing a direct correlation between theism and unhappiness? do tell...

The lord Buddha said that the quest is better than the having. It is the moment of quenching a thirst that is heavenly, after which the moment decreases, until the next thirst.

Theism can be part of the journey, in that if we see a social structure where humanity is allowed to rise to a higher level of emotional and logical intelligence through a framework of social justice and support, then human greatness can be achieved. But to say one has the ideal or perfect social framework is like claiming rights to the most beautiful color, or the most ideal bird. It is often through peace and cooperation that greater intellectual ideas and works are achieved - but I think belief is important, as it provides a sense of purpose and coherence to one's life. Perhaps we are here to unravel the mysteries, test our limits, and see beyond with the creativity of the mind, buttressed by the combined wisdom of all humanity throughout the ages...

Anyhow, if anything come through from the tales about Jesus, the gospels as novels, it is that here was an example of the ideals of compassion embodied in human form; here was a person willing to stand for justice knowing full well the penalty, and straitening out those who had misused the public trust. And here was the ultimate sacrifice, telling all too well the tale of abandonment by those more afraid of losing their lives than making right the wrongs in society. A tale of the pulls between our needs and wants as individuals, and the needs of society, at a time when no others dared effect real change for the public good, but one was willing to stand up for justice. Anyone who goes against the popular sentiment of the day, be that from the winds of war or the tides of fortune that pull inexorably upon humanity's coat, knows this - standing against what is wrong at a time when the forces of greed and fear and war have taken a hold on the common conscience know this feeling; it is the sacrifice that leads to the blossoming of many good things, and the highest gesture of advancing society.

1. Christianity is not the only religion. So to relate everything int he world to one specific religion is stupid*i think*

2. When someone dies and gets a pic for me of what really happens... let me know. because, lets all be honest NOBODY KNOWS. and boy people start terrible things about religion and the afterlife.. NOBODY KNOWS.

3. I have nothing, absolutelynothing against relgion, if you believe jesus as your savior, than that is fine. But when people like frodo tell me im wrong for not believing, tell me that im going to a "Hell" for not believing thats when I get annoyed.

Im agnostic, I do not know what to believe in and choose not to pick a religion, because I see more bad that comes from religion than good. In my opinion people keep trying so hard to force religion on people and do not ever realize that it causes more harm than good.

Frodo, you need to know that not everyone is a christian and no matter how much you quote the bible it will not change me. I have been to church, i have been to christian camps.. nothing has yet made me believe there is a god or especially that jesus is our savior.

On a side note, i always love when i tell people im agnostic.. because some people then like to be closeminded and stereotypical and think i have no morals. Well I have morals, and im sure other people on here without a religion have morals, and care for others, and hurt. And to me its not because of jesus.. I dont know why i feel the way i feel. Or whyim here, or especially where im gonna go when I die. But, what I do know is that I enjoy my life, Im happy, I have good health and good friends, and death is the last thing on my mind.

FRODO

Let me make it easy for you.

If you EVER post ANYTHING about your BATSHIT INSANE belief system EVER again I am going to kill you.

mature.. really mature. Look I dont enjoy this frodo guy either, but to wish death upon him.. that is quite mature. Whoever you are you must be quite young to have to wish someone to die.

I HATE YOU DIE DIE DIE..

than again, maybe you arent that young. I do not know.

Satan: [Heb.<satan, enemy]

Frodo: ..seems to me absolutes only lead to absolute problems. Why not let the marketplace of religion flourish, and let everyone make up their own minds as to what they believe? To encourage is one thing; to profess absolutes is another. I think we've past this stage in the 1600's. Anyhow, I need to go read some Descartes.
