HOW TO GET TO HEAVEN WHEN YOU DIE

Featured Replies

I 've seen the above clip that frodo posted on the news before, and Obama's just making a point that we shouldn't pass jurisdiction using the Bible as your defense (such as those concerning gay rights). I consider myself a Christian and I find far too many religious individuals use the Bible as their guide on what is and is not right when it comes to politics and law.

I agree. My cousin is a nut, he thinks every thing in the bible should be law and if a women cheats on her husband she should be stoned. But of course people don't realize that was the old testament and things changed after Jesus.

Jesus is God though, so God is far too indecisive to be a leader, one minute he's all BURN THE NON BELIEVERS, flooding the entire earth cos one man pissed him off and the next he's all "love thy fellow man"

silly God.

A really big bible is useful for pressing flowers and leaves.

I think if we just boil it down to what makes a better outcome for everyone and ourselves in society, that's all you really need - the golden rule. Trying to explain natural phenomenon as god's divine will is a very human-centered approach, and one that looks more and more inaccurate as scientific knowledge unveils the deeper truths. Best as I can figure, the challenges we're faced with are here to help us learn, and to overcome by trying smarter ways. Aspire to a higher plane of consciousness, to have real compassion for others, and to follow the path that is right for you; to work well with others, and seek common accomplishment & joy, as well as individual accomplishments. Basically, there are many walks in life, and as long as we respect the paths of others, accept that our paths be respected in kind, and gently correct our ways, and accept correction if we become too selfish or too stubborn. - it's all just common sense, to adhere to our better angels, but not to take life too seriously all the time..

To me, the old testament is an older, harsher morality play - and sometimes incorrect. There's way too much stick, too harsh are the punishments, and it's pretty severe. The new testament is better, as Jesus is portrayed as the healer, the individual that takes a stand against injustice knowing the penalty he will pay, and holds firm to his generosity to the end. He is the embodiment of compassion, justice, and selflessness, against all odds. But in some ways, Mohamed says this: in essence - 'all men, women, and children are equal in the eyes of god' - which was a daring thing to do, as it nearly cost him his life. So, to me, looking at all the good things in every religion, to say one is the only way, or that all others are false is myopic and incorrect. Humanity's progress is the result of many motivators, and many approaches to social consciousness.

The bible gave us Jesus Christ Superstar :D

Excellent!!!

lol, i think its about time the mccain supporters gave up, it's getting ridiculous

Its time McCain and Obama supporters realized they're being used and fooled.

McCain and republicans trick the Christians into thinking they're on their side, when that is not true. Obama has the do gooders and socialist tricked into thinking he wants to help the little man and not the rich and corporations...they'll fooled too.

It's just a choice between someone who's 100% against everything that Christians stand for...(Obama) and someone who is 50% against what Christians stand for (McCain). Christians don't like MCcain, they like Palin. They are willing to settle for McCain rather than have that evil Obama in office who believes that we should be able to murder babies after they are born.

Nope, they both are equally as bad....and what is worse is the republicans claim to be pro Christianity....at least most dems are more open about their beliefs....

Both are equally as bad when you put Christianity into it. You can't justify voting for a satan, just because the other one is a satan....either you slice it you end up with a lying scumbag, only difference is The "right" lies more about it being pro Christianity to get more votes. You cheapen our faith to be fooled like that.

Isn't the anti christ supposed to act like Jesus? and pretend to be in favor of believers? talking one way, then acting the other....reminds me more of a republican then a democrat in that way.

Oh and Bush and McCain are in favor of abortion...they won't do anything to stop it, just say they're against it and let it keep happening....just to get your vote. It's a easy vote, they talk well and act differently and almost no one is the wiser.

Not everyone is a christian.

Im geting sick and tired of people tryng to make america 100% christian.

pretty soon people are gonna start invading countries and telling people they are going to hell for believing in a different god or gods.. Forcing everyone to believe in the same god.

Not everyone is a christian* I know, I know its hard to believe*

Dont tell me im going to hell. I dont even believe in a hell(really) so how the freak am i gonna be going there? people have to realize that not everyone opens the bible and believes it, not everyone is a christian

* I have nothing against christianty. i just have a thing agaisnt people forcing religion on one another*

I have many christian friends who accept me for who i am.

sorry if i offend anyone. But im just getting really tired of people coming to my door saying "you are gonna go to hell if u dont follow jesus" well ii guess im going to hell then.. according to a book that i dont believe in. got it.

Telling people about your faith is one thing, but telling someone they are wrong is another. Cuz in my opinion nobody can be right or wrong when it comes to religion.

and I think religion and politics should be kept different. Cuz not every politician is gonna be the religion people favor..... in this case christianity. But im pretty sure both mccain and obam are christians.

of course if someone is liberal or leans towards the liberal side they cant be a christian...

This is a bit off-topic from your discussion right now, but I've been reading a lot about Hinduism lately and it's been very appealing to me. I don't have a religion so I'm not 'converting' per se but I feel like I understand it better than any Western religion. It's also funny to imagine Hindu people learning about our religions... it must seem so different.. (obviously I know but well, I've been pondering this stuff lately :P)

I'm a Christian, and I try to fight against people like the guy on this thread. We need to be more understanding and less forceful with our views. But please know not all of us are like thie frodo baggins dude.

Oh of course I know not all christians are like this frodo guy.

It saddens me people argue so much about religion rather than openly talking about it. People judge to much based on ones religion.

My religion is the religion of the musical god, the nameless one ;)

Jesus said:

Joh 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Would that be the back door?

Joh 10:1 ¶ "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. "But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep."To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. "And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.

It's like studying Shakespeare!

Yeah I agree. I have my beliefs but I don't force them down other peoples' throats. It only makes people defensive and its a complete waste of time. Accepting people no matter what they don't or do believe is the best thing a Christian can do.

It's not

The Christian thing to do is force you to believe or kill you

anyone remember the Crusades?
