HOW TO GET TO HEAVEN WHEN YOU DIE

Featured Replies

It's not the Gospel that's offensive to him, or most others on here. For starters, most people that come on here have the courtessey to introduce themselves, and maybe even give a damn about the reason this place exists. If you're not the least interested that's fine, but look at it from our point of view. How would you like it if someone walked into a bible study you were at and started yammering on about some band called Coldplay? It's out of context, and you'd have every right to want them to save that for a more appropriate time. Yes, we discuss other things here, but you never came here to talk...just to preach, and that's why some of us are getting offended. All my mom jEVER wanted to talk about was Jesus...by the time I was 10 I was sick of the name. There are other worthy things to discuss as WELL as Jesus, even in a Christian home.

I actually think you meant well, but the way you went about it was out of place and frankly, rude.

If he were a Christian, then he shouldn't be offended by the gospel of Jesus Christ is my point. I'm not judging him, I am going by what he said.

No problem with the Gospel, just with the way you try to witness. IF you went by what I said, you wouldn't question my relationship with God, but like most Pseudo-Christians you judge and think everyone should think like you...ever wonder why so many people hate you? It has nothing to do with God, my problem is with YOUR personality and the way you go about things.

This is about morons like you making a whole religion look bad to NON Christian.

I figured it out, Christianity isn't about God or Jesus, its about agreeing with you! Forget about God, you're the way to Christianity!!!

Wanna burn some witch's later?

Hmmm...growing up, I thought it was always about arguing about the nature of God or Jesus! Just proves your point about judging.

As far as burning witches...NOOOOOOOOOO! I WANT TO LIVE!!! *runs away*

Roller, Holi

Why is it that I've run into this strain of Holy Roller before?? They're skulls are impenetrable by any and all forms of logical reasoning, and yet they persist. I've had more intelligent discussions with the red squirrels that sit in the pines behind the house!:laugh3: And when one thinks of Puritans here in America, they arrived precisely because they were intolerant of others' ways, and had done unkind things that got them booted out of Europe. Once here, they began to continue their intolerant arrogant behavior, using biblical passages as excuses to abuse all others, and to burn witches, (though that was relatively rare - you're safe Tracie!:laugh3:). What get's me the most is the assumption that they must "go forth and convert the non-believers" - which is ridiculous, since many are believers already, and some just have other ways of perceiving God.

Speaking of which, it's almost time for the Jehova's Witnesses to make their annual pilgrimage around the neighborhood. Oh boy, I can hardly wait! Let's see.. the last sermon was the Kingdom of Clay.. Hmm.. this year, what will it be?..

So...if I am telling you what the bible says you must do to get to heaven and you don't like what the bible has to say, then that somehow makes ME arrogant? I don't think so. I think it makes you feel angry because it convicts your heart and you don't want to accept it.

I think some people just dont want to be preached to(just my opinion).

Personally, you could tell me what every word said from every religious text(not just the bible) and it still wouldnt convince me that the words you speak are true(Please no one take offence to this, I swear someone will someone always does)

But frodo, if you wish to speak the words of christianity do it somewhere else or in a forum for fellow christians like yourself.

However, one has the right to free speech.

Well said, LuckyCharms (Sorry, I've forgotten your name). I really do think this is well-intentioned, it's just not appropriate here.

Frodo, do you even like Coldplay, or are you just hear to hang around this thread? (I am impressed that you did stay around and discuss it instead of just leaving like a troll, credit for that.)

Tracie, according to Steve, the Fundi he works with couldn't read Tolkien anymore, because it was "too real" and this poor Fundi got wayy too wrapped up in it (believing it was all real). So, perhaps another Fundi who can no longer read other works? They're annoying - at the U they kept trying to indoctrinate students into their cults (ie - campus crusaders). And you can't really discuss things rationally with them - "because the bible is perfect, and it's all there in the book!":rolleyes5: Yea, right:dozey:. Needless to say, most of them flunked out of college (little wonder!):laugh3:..

Even so, I'm still a fan of being polite. Campus Crusaders? Lots of memories there, lol. Now if you want a REAL cult, try the X Files Fandom...they're VERY strange, lol.

lately, it seems that religion is doing more harm in this world then good. When I meet a friend I dont ask them "Hey, what religion are you", because I dont base my friendship on religion. Nobody knows what happens after we die(yes I said it), people want to know. Religion is a good thing to have, I dont have one because I dont know what to believe in. Groups liek campus crusadors arent bad, they just get the word out about the lord in a positive way and those who wish to join can. But look at the world today, people are killing one another because they cherrish a different God, people are looked down on because they dont believe. Religion should be a personal faith something you enjoy but dont have to force others to believe. It shouldnt bring wars like it has today and in the past or bring judgements against others.

Read the lyrics to John Lennon's Imagine- if people could live like this, could live without judgment over something such as religion, then we could be at peace. Call me a dreamer, but i really think we could.

Imagine there's no Heaven

It's easy if you try

No hell below us

Above us only sky

Imagine all the people

Living for today

Imagine there's no countries

It isn't hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion too

Imagine all the people

Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions

I wonder if you can

No need for greed or hunger

A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people

Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will live as one

* When I said Relgion is a good thing to have, I mean its comforting, especially near death, but its not good when FORCED apon others or when it starts war over lands*

But don't you just love (:dozey:) how he (she?) keeps coming back to slag off the guy with pastor's kid syndrome, but won't talk to the rest of us or answer our questions?

(And btw as a die-hard ringer, I really do resent the way that you're using Frodo Baggins' name in vain, Frodo.:P:lol:;))

:dozey: Yeah, pretty awesome that he is ignoring pretty much everybody else and what we say.

You WANT us to attack the bible.....This isn't about the Bible or God, its about you. You want to pretend were christian haters, but were bashing YOU not the Bible. But if anyone ever doesn't like you, they really just hate the bible not you...:dozey:

I guess religions' got it's place - sure, I can see that. If it's all about compassion and reminding us to be thoughtful of one-another, that's all good stuff. But it goes off-tangent when some use the absolute rhetoric found in a given text. Then, instead of being about something kind, it starts to devolve into something akin to a fight over the poorly-written rules of a board game.. only with worse consequences! Moderation is the key.

I'm personally not bashing anyone, and I'm trying to be diplomatic here...although I'm getting a bit tired of the whole thing since it's obvious that some people are only here for a one-sided 'conversation'.

Once again, I defer to LuckyCharms's post...Imagine sums it all up perfectly. NOTE: it doesn't say 'No God', it only says 'no religeon'. One God, One Earth, nothing to fight about.

Simple...

Judge not lest you should be judged.

Love one another as I have loved you.

Hmmmmm...the Master has spoken.

I believe that you ARE attacking the bible, because Jesus and His word commands me to tell people what I am telling you, so is Jesus right or wrong? I am doing what HE actually says to do and sharing what HE actually says. Is Jesus right or wrong when He says that He is the only way to heaven and that anyone who doesn't trust in Him will go to hell?

Jesus actually said:

Joh 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus also commanded:

Mr 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

So you're the bible....maybe we should call you god too.. The bible commands you tell people, but does not command how you do it.

You're not god, stop acting like everything you say if from heaven.

sorry brother, quoting the bible 24/7 doest not make you right, I grew up in the church, i've come to realize what is the wrong way to go about things.

were not debating God or his truth, were debating you and the way you go about things. You can't save someone who has already been saved.

You remind me of a pharisee from Jesus's time. They thought knowing the law and quoting the bible was the way to heaven and made them holier then others...

"When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full."

Nick, should we leave you two alone?? (Just kidding. your arguments are legit...this is just proving my point that when you put two Christians in one place, they'll find fault with one-another's Christianity...same as what I was raised with.)

I tihnk we can ALL quote the Bible here, and the one with the most quotes doesn't win...so what about my questions, Frodo? Do you just want to argue with Nick, or do you want to talk to he other people on this forum? CLearly (whether you think so or not) he's 'saved' by the biblical description. so let's move on,shall we??

Otherwise, I'm going to take back what I said about keeping an open mind and just say :lock:

THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS! It's not about open dialogue anymore, so KILL THE THREAD! (Or have the decency to talk to the people on this forum like people instead of 'sheep'.

Jesus is dead, and the accuracy of what's verifiable lies in Q. If Jesus said that he is the only way to heaven, then I feel he was wrong. This claim assumes that those who have no knowledge of Jesus are doomed, and that he is the only portal to the afterlife. I would rather think we create either a better or worse world here for ourselves and others, in the sense that life is a wheel, and we pass on to the next a pattern and a future shaped by the past and present. I do feel that much of what is written as the story of Jesus is good and provides some great examples of morality tales and just acts, but there's more to life than Jesus. The biggest problem I have with the Bible are the absolutes which can put blinders on people. The way to "heaven" is to simply do what is good (in my mind); Many paths we walk, and to respect the paths of others as we wish the same done to ourselves makes sense.
