I challenge you to call into his show and debate him on any issue pertaining to God, politics or religion. He is on Monday-Friday 12pm-4pm and on Fridays at 3 pm ANYONE can call in a debate him on ANY issue.

Regardless of whether God exists, believing in God is not even remotely scientific. All "evidence" that he exists is pretty easy (but getting tiresome) to disprove, and since without supporting evidence God is an unnecessary and unlikely component of the universe, belief in God is absolutely not scientific. Believe in him if you want, but please don't convince yourself that your belief is scientific; that's just stupid.

More importantly, stop with the belief-imposing; it's very unlikely to work, but really annoying and makes lots of people hate you.

And since I know perfectly well you will ignore this: :lock:

You know what right, I'm undecided on this whole "God" thing. I used to avidly believe in him til my whole life got fucked over. where was this so called "god" then? he supposedly looks over us all and looks out for us all? I know people who's kids as young as 4 or 5 have battled for their life with cancer. where's your "god" then?

I've recently realised that a god in our sky's looking over us is possibly just as absurd as playing with lego, and secretly them coming to life and believing you to be their god, essentially that's all it is. this whole religion was created as a way of getting people to obey a governement by saying "oh, if you do this, and that, and don't obey us, you'll go to hell when you die" - that's really all it is.

I went to a catholic school, I'm not against catholics, believe what you want right?

but what really gets to me is catholics who say "well, you're wrong for believing this, or that" - no, I'm not. I don't tell you what to believe what so please don't have a go at me for believing what I want. Some of my closest friends are the most catholic poeple I know, attend church every sunday, love their god to death blah blah blah so please don't get me wrong, I'm not against it.

but you have to admit, that a being in the sky looking over us all, or even an entity known as "God" seems a little, if not a lot, preposterous.

I'm sure I'll get burned for sharing my views.

but that's the catholic church for you.

So until I recieve proof from a dead relative's ghost or something similar telling me that god is real, and god cares... I'm sitting on the fence.

xo

I'm not quite understanding those who want this thread locked. If you don't like what you're reading either block those users who offend you (preferable) or don't enter the thread. Locking threads is to extinguish everyone's right to an opinion :)

Not to mention requires 15 pages of paperwork to be filled in. ;)

What do you mean? I just want to convince you that you need Jesus man.

What do you mean? I just want to convince you that you need Jesus man.

I already told you, ive been baptised. Or is it not real unless you do it?

^ But why us? Why won't you actually talk to us?

Having gone to bible college, and grown up in the church I know his type, he think's he's God's gift to earth and better then everyone.....Some people think "knowing Jesus" Makes them better then others.

I see, you're you know my heart? Sounds like you are the judgemental one here.

this thread is absolutely amazing... didn't jesus say 'love thy neighbour', or something like that? stop arguing, kids! Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

Let Frodo say what he wants, cuz that's what he believes, and he believes he's doing the right thing...and if there are those who agree with him, then good for Frodo! :) Frodo does have good intentions, I suppose, but he needs to learn how to communicate them the proper way as not to piss other people off...

I like most of what you said. Unfortunatel, the gospel is offensive to some. Jesus said that many would be offended by it. It's the reason that they killed Jesus and His disciples, but He commands us to tell people. How else will they know the truth, lest we tell them?

I'm convinced God exists, but I don't think we can understand the nature of the universe... it's beyond our comprehension. We might know all the details after we die, or maybe not.

Some people believe life is just one long spell of suffering, completely unnecessary. I don't think this is the case at all... our time on Earth is a blessing. I read an interesting anecdote about God's power: think about the fact that you were born. This isn't something you ever seriously consider or question, but who are YOU? Why are you you? Why aren't you someone else, born in another time or another country? The reason is: God chose to wake you up, bring you into existence in these circumstances. That's frightening power. You had no choice in the matter. But now you're here, and you have to make the best of it!

We had a sermon about this Sunday. There was a bible verse where jesus ask's what do the crowd's think of me.

"18 Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, "Who do the crowds say I am?"

19 They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life."

20 "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"

Peter answered, "The Chris of God."

21 Jesus strictly warned them not to tell this to anyone"

Noticed how Jesus made friends and relationships with people before he witnessed to them? One of the main points of the sermon was not to further the kingdom of God with a sword or force it upon other, but build relationships and live by example and then witness.

Jesus commanded us to tell others, but WE should do it the way he did and wanted us too. Some people thought a sword was the best way, some thought by laws...but you see Jesus did it by relationships. When you come in here very very impersonal and try to witness you turn people off, because you didn't even take a few seconds to get to know anyone. It seems you're more interested in converting to make yourself feel good then what Jesus really wanted.

That's not what was going on. Jesus Commanded them not to tell anyone who He was at that time because it wasn't time to reveal who He was to the world yet. After His resurrection all of the disciples and apostles were persecuted for spreading the gospel. I'm sure they didn't have time to make friends with everyone that they told. They were murdered for the gospel. 11 out of 12 disciples died for their faith.

I'm thinking mrcool has it right xfrodo.. - lead by example, and build relationships; teach by example and allegory.

In reference to Jesus here: Being a mystery person keeps minds focused on the message, less on the teacher.. And xfrodo, asserting absolute knowledge about the gospels is like some perfect interpretation of a work of art - it cannot be done, as it's almost always incorrect in attempting to define everything like a cook book. It has many meanings, at many levels..

You know, in the society today that we live in, this is not going to be a proper thread for many people. I would've advised that you shouldn't post such a thread but... whatever. Preaching on a thread isn't going to get to anyone. I'm a Christian but... yeah...

Hundreds have already come to Christ on other forums this way, so you're wrong. BTW where are you witnessing and who are you witnessing to?

Hey, just wanted to let you know that this forum has more than one thread.

Hell and back again..

I've been to Hell, and it's really pretty nice!:sunny: Good company - lots of intellectuals, scientists, and quite a few free thinkers.. (anotherwords, don't believe everything church officials have to say; think it through logically, compassionately, and broadly about someone before deciding where in the spectrum of behavior their lives fall..)

Personally, I think we get the kind of society we create and maintain; we can choose to live in more hellish or more heavenly a world, based on the choices we make.. it's more about aspiring to be like Bugs, and less like Daffy.. The world is a reflection of our choices, priorities, and our nature - we are given the choice, and the intelligence to see farther. There is no higher God than truth; so keep that in mind - morality tales can be dreamy and poetic and still unveil broader truths, but if someone claims something that sounds too fantastic to be true, it's probably a hoax. We can think amazing things with our imaginations; but the truth will set you free xfrodo.;)

@ Indya: We've been through this and I don't think we're going to convince Mr. Baggins that it's not the way to do it at this point, lol. (And remember, I've already said I was raised a Christian and wholly respect the Faith and Jesus, even when I don't agree with the Church's methods.

@ Frodo: (And I'm NOT arguing or being a smartass here) I've read many accounts of NDEs (nea-rdeath experiences) and what's interesting is that many of the people having them experience Heaven or Hell according to their individual faith, so it's not just Christian punishment/reward that they see. Having said that, there are literally thousands of atheists and agnostics who have little or no belief who DO see the Christian model during NDEs, so there may be something to it. There are a lot of believer/skeptic discussions I've been involved with, and I tend to lean towards them being real. Interesting post and link.

But as long as you're here, you really should socialise a bit and let people get to know you so we don't just write you off as a preachy troll. You can communicate much better with people when you get to know them, right? (That's what Jesus did...he didn't just stay on the Mount Of Olives...he went into villages and met and talked to people on their terms during their regular life experiences.;)

I guess we posted at the same time, because I missed this. Great post, Chuck! Truth is the highest power available to us...and if there is a god and we search for the Truth, we'll find that god. If not, and honest search will still bear that out. Well postd!
