This appeal is now redundant.

 

The title is infact:

'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends'

 

 

Actually you are right, because on the site, it is written : 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends', not 'VLV' or 'DAAHF'

that would be so breathtakin awesome because both titles in relation are so wide and deep and would make a Big Fusion of The sadness and the Euphoric , oh man the world would turn upside down, but i mean ok This Dream but if the songs let ur hearts vibrate , every title suits :) so so happy

PLEASE, Coldplay, just make it Death and All His friends. The two put together sounds... well, bad. Viva la Vida alone sounds better.

I havent read all the posts on this topic so could be just echoing other opinions here... but just a long shot, but does anyone think that the titles given in tonights prospekt entry could actually just be ONE title ie. "Viva la Vida or Death and all his Friends"

As one phrase symbolises life going on, and another represents life ending, the album title could be reflecting both of these phrases as one?

The idea crossed my mind, but it makes no sense and although Coldplay's done some stupid stuff in the past they're not stupid enough to name the album something that.

I think it would be cooler if it were

 

'Viva la Vida with Death And All His Friends'

 

But I don't dislike how it is now.

Or just:

 

"Viva La Vida / Death And All His Friends"

 

The slash makes the title look more 'professional' I think. It looks more sensible, cleaner. It also maintains the same meaning.

me in the first one: Viva la Vida isn't my favorite title ever, i'll definitely say that. but i can think of much lamer titles that we'd be bitching about more. and i'm just really happy it's not self-titled. that would have made me smack my forehead and roll my eyes.

when i said that, i NEVER expected them to actually double title it. now my forehead hurts! :laugh4:

yea i agree with the last two posts. I still like the title but i think it would be better with maybe a 'with' or even a slash.

What I meant before was that I would like the "with" between the two titles to make it sound more like an instruction. Like to have '[Long Live Life] With Death And All His Friends' as an almost ironic and cryptic statement or slogan for life that the album would be soundtrack to or a mindset to listening to the album with.

 

I'd say all the other titles have had this kind of feel of letting the title of the album be a thought of what the music should be for the listener:

 

Parachutes: Things (or music) to save one from an otherwise dangerous freefall.

 

AROBTTH: Self-explanatory, really.

 

X & Y: Variables (or songs) that make up or complete the unexplained and fit into everything around us.

 

Going too deep? Maybe, but still fun to write up and attempt to explain.

Viva la Vida sounds like Spanish compilation of love songs...!!

 

I really hope they're just name it Death and All His Friends...

 

Anyway, the decision is in their hands! :wink2:

 

BTW, please coldplay... the album title reflects people's impression about it!

To be honest I know it's just a friendly gesture to ask them to change but it's not going to do a lot. They've already said they aren't making this album to please people and also that if people don't like the name then tough shit because this is what it's called. The whole point is they're doing what THEY want to do and not what WE want.

Personally, I want them to change, do different stuff, weird stuff, stuff we haven't heard from a rock band before. That doesn't mean it can't be tuneful and melodic. It might sound weird but even if I didn't like it I think I'd like them as a band more because it would be so easy to just knock out another album of Clocks's and Fix You's but they're not.

I thought Viva la Diva was good. Loved the fact that it wasn't Coldplay 'cause if they'd released another same old CP record I'd start to worry that they didn't appear to be able to make any other kind of music (most truly great acts change their style at least once (U2, Beatles, Madonna, Bowie, etc.)). I love the fact they're doing what they want with this album. Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends is a great album title, unique but also quite like Bob Dylan in a way. It kind implies that both 'titles' are interchangable or that can both be applied to the same thing. I don't think the 'or' is there because they can't make up their minds. I also love the fact that they aren't trying to please fans who only like to soppy side of Coldplay (The Scientist, Fix You, etc.) 'cause there's always been more to them than that.

I would hate it if they changed the album title because of some people on a fansite. I want to see the record entirely as THEY want it.

this thread is kinda disrespectful.......appealing a band's album title is like asking michaelangelo to paint the 16th chapel over because we don't agree with the colors......we may not like what they decide on some things. but I don't think I would vote on an appeal thing......I just think its kinda disrespectful.

Death And All His Friends is an amazing title, viva la vida is quite cheezy and cringe worthy, but whatever they choose they are still my favourate band.:cool:
