Hope you havn't had too much difficulty deciding on the final track listing, and we are thrilled to hear that you might have it finalised tonight!

 

We hope that if you are reading this, you will take note of our short appeal. In the latest Prospekt entry, you referred to the album title being called either Viva La Vida or Death & All His Friends. After hearing from Rolling Stone that the album title would be the former, there have been very mixed responses from the fans here. But I think I speak for most of us here at Coldplaying.com that the Death & All His Friends Title is a much more engaging and interesting title! If you have yet to finalise the album title, many of us here would be delighted to see DAAHF as the final album title.

 

We really hope the title turns out to be Death And All His Friends! But we will totally respect your decision whatever you name it in the end.

To be honest I know it's just a friendly gesture to ask them to change but it's not going to do a lot. They've already said they aren't making this album to please people and also that if people don't like the name then tough shit because this is what it's called. The whole point is they're doing what THEY want to do and not what WE want.

I, Chelsea (ApproximatelyInfinite) wholeheartedly agree and sincerely hope that Death and All his Friends will be the album title rather than Viva La Vida. It seems to be more original, and most certainly more interesting in my personal opinion. However, I, for one, will not be too terribly disappointed by the choice of Viva La Vida.

 

Thank you for giving us all the information this week, and we can't WAIT for further updates and the album itself!

Since we haven't heard the album, how would we know what title reflects it the best? Death and all His Friends sounds good, but maybe it wouldn't fit the album as a whole?

 

That said, I agree that Viva La Vida is terrible.

Wasn`t it already said the new album will be "darker"?...about death and loneliness?

I think you can't tell an artist to change the title to his masterpiece!! ;) as if I said Leonardo's Gioconda shouldn't be called Gioconda but with other famale name cause I find it horrible...

Eh, I thought this was purely a fan idea...I didn't know that this title was actually being considered. I just caught the new update....

 

I vote for Death....it invites more interest. Lonliness/Sadness..etc-- all friends of Death. If those are a lot of the themes on the album it would fit amazingly.

I do like Death and All His Friends much, much, much better too. But, as was said before, call it whatever you'd like, just give us the music already!! :)

YOU are the artists. This album is YOUR work. YOU should decide the title, not fans. Fans do not know what happened in the process of writing the songs, the challenges of recording and mixing, not to mention the practices, rehearsals, and planning of concerts. If you would like to let fans decide the title, then fine. But my personal belief is that when something is your brainchild, you make it your own and people can think whatever the hell they want to.

 

I don't care if it's Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.

I don't get what people like about DAAHF. Sounds emo-esque. not coldplay-esque. I mean the two titles are completely opposite each other. they give completely different impressions about the album. One sound celebratory and uplifting, the other, pretty depressing.

I think it is not that the people like DAAHF too much, but it is that they don't like VLV... and that's not so good, because DAAHF is just a title that "sounds better", but VLV, as Chris already explained, has a deeply meaning and it's great one.

 

But anyway, it's just a title.
