all the bands recieve much money for their concerts not for their sales.

But EMI are going to be in serious financial problems if Coldplay don't make some serious sales with this album. From EMI's financial plans, everything seems to be penned on this release.

Lol it might've been twice that number if people could've figured out how to get past the "password" screen.

Yeah, whats all this about a password screen? I don't remember any of that. Although I was in a bit of a rush, trying to get back to my graphics exam with the track ;)

ahh, 600,000 in the first day! that's amazing. absolutely amazing. i think it'll hit a million by 11:59PM next monday. and this isn't counting all the times it's been unofficially shared by people that got it early and then sent it to people because they couldn't get the email because the site was so backed up. i bet that's another 5,000 or so right there, probably more.

ooh, i bet EMI is piiiiiiissed that they let coldplay do this for free!

I don't necessarily think that EMI thinks this is a bad idea. What better way to boost interest in the upcoming album?

^well that is true, which is why i assume they let them do it this way in the first place. but i bet those greedy execs are just sobbing at the thought of all the money they could have made if they made coldplay charge for this. i mean, they obviously saw it coming, but i'm just imagining them really wringing their hands when making the decision.

Well, many people, after clicking on the email from Coldplay.com, got a screen asking for a username and password before they could download the song, but no one knows what it was lol.

I got about 6 emails before I got one that didn't ask for the password lol. :laugh3:

As far as the password and username thing. After like the 10th try I saw that the blue link didn't cover the whole entire link. So when you click on the blue link it was leaving off like 3 or 4 characters. what you had to do was copy and paste the ENTIRE link to get it to work. It was pissing me off too!

As for actually GETTING the link, I never got a link with my AOL account until later that NIGHT!!!! I had to setup a brand new hotmail account and do it that way.
