Does Anyone Else Remember...

Hearing a single on the radio, hearing/reading about the release date of the album, waiting anxiously for that date, and running to the record store to buy the album??

I'm not complaining. I'm loving all the leaked/pre-released songs from V/D, but now that I'm online, I almost feel like I'm sabotaging Christmas Day. Anyone else feel like that, or am I just old-fashioned?

Do you mean that you feel guilty hearing all these leaked tracks and that you'd rather wait until the album is released to hear them? If so then Amen to that, I'm with you - I feel so naughty :P

i have used some restraint and haven't heard or watched anything.

Only 16 days left. :p

Well I am sure everyone nows how I feel..

I am saving the spolier !

I haven't heard any tracks..:smug:

No, because it's never happened to me. Ever.

The one and only time I have ever heard a single on the radio that made me want to find out more about the album/band, was in 2003 when I heard Clocks for the first time. But the album was already out then, and I still downloaded it on Napster (or was it Kazaa) first.

I don't like buying an album if I don't know I'm going to like it. And on the rare occasions I do anyway, I always don't like it on first listen and wish I had done some research first just to give my head time to get around it. It always seems anticlimactic to me when I don't go through an album a bit at a time.

Well, I like surprises (sometimes!). I had better not say too much here, but suffice it to say, be careful when you walk into a record store, and play with any instruments that are thus being set up for any impromptu performances.. :laugh3:

If the music's good - either radio, or internet - yes, when I leave the hermitage here, I do like to buy the album after I find a good song or two by the group - the remaining songs are great surprises, and often well worth the purchase! Often though I'm prone to getting the "Best Of" first, though..

haha yeah i actually really miss browsing through a record store and trying to find an album to buy. now all i need to do is type a few things and i can get an album for free. even buying an album on itunes or something isn't the same.

I have felt this way about several Dave Matthews Band studio releases. Whenever there has been a new album about to be released, the same excitement can be felt quite palpably throughout the community of fans.

Before the days of digital I would be absolutely beside myself with excitement on the fateful Tuesday when new releases are made available. There was something to be said for the "rituals" that were involved in the release of new music. I don't partake in these "rituals" anymore now that the music industry has gone digital. It is too easy to download music directly onto the medium I use to listen to the source. Sad, really.

Record store? Don't you mean Itunes? Running, don't you mean sitting and typing?

:laugh3::laugh4::laugh1::lol:

I agree with you, though, if we hadn't heard Viva la Vida before the release, yesterday's live performance would have been a lot less enjoyable.;)

You mean pre-ordering the CD on play.com and waiting for the Monday so when you get home the CD is at home waiting for you?

I broke!! Once it was legally streamed on myspace I had to go listen, and couldn't wait a day longer :embarassed:

There is something that excites me about going down the shops and buying the lastest cd from your fave band and then listening to it for the very first time having only heard one single from it. Call me old fashioned, I don't care, I know what I like and I like what I know!

I marked the release date on the calendar in my kitchen and have been counting the days. Other than Violet Hill and Viva La Vida, I've not heard any of the new stuff.

I've been recording bits off the TV & radio to listen to once I've heard the album in full, rather than hearing it in bits and pieces, and avoided the stuff on the 'net. The band have said in interviews that it's supposed to be heard in it's entirety - and they agonised over the running order.

I'm respecting their plans... and it's killing me!!!

that was my plan, and if it was still only available as an unofficial download I still wouldn't have heard it. As soon as it became official it was to much for my willpower.

I've ordered the album from I-Tunes, but I'm also getting the vinyl version. I still love holding an album in my hands, reading the cover notes, looking at the photos etc.

Everytime I buy a physical copy of some new music I still get the same rush of excitement I did when I was a kid... not sure I'll ever be able to go digital entirely

I can't remember anything about this. Probably because I've never done it so extreme like this. If an album is coming out in a couple days and it some how leaked, then i'd shrug and just wait. But this site has really brought me to love Coldplay to an extreme level making me just want every song by them. I've never loved a band as much as I do Coldplay so I really have never been through this Epic.

You disappoint me Jenny :(
