Coldplay regain album chart crown

Coldplay have returned to the top of the UK album chart with Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends.

The stadium band's reign at number one had been interrupted last week by dance act Basshunter, who fall to number three in the new chart.

Number two in the countdown is Abba compilation Gold - Greatest Hits, first released in 1992 and enjoying renewed success thanks to the film Mamma Mia!

Dizzee Rascal's Dance Wiv Me tops a largely-unchanged singles chart.

The Londoner has now been at number one for four weeks.

Welsh singer Duffy remains at number four in the album chart with Rockferry, with Sharleen Spiteri's Melody at five and Ting Tings' We Started Nothing at number six.

Irish group The Batchelors return to the album top 10 for the first time since 1969 with I Believe - The Very Best of The Batchelors.

Founded in Dublin in the late 1950s as The Harmonichords, they first had success in 1963 with the single Charmaine, while Diane reached number one in the UK the following year. Original members Con and Dec Cluskey continue to tour.

Primal Scream's new album Beautiful Future enters the chart at number nine.

Tomorrow all my data will be online...a lot of surprises!

Wow, that is really awesome :D!

Looks as if it's going to be staying there too :D

Kid Rock's Summer hots up on singles chart

Kid Rock looks on course for a double-chart breakthrough this weekend by reaching the top of the UK singles chart countdown for the first time and scoring his first-ever UK Top 10 album.

Early retail sales suggest the Atlantic-signed artist’s All Summer Long will end the four-week chart-topping run of Dance Wiv Me by Dizzee Rascal featuring Calvin Harris & Chrome, while its parent album Rock N Roll Jesus will leap from a chart position of 145 into the Top 10.

The Kid Rock single will be joined in the top five by Phonogenic/RCA act The Script who are set to make a double-digit climb from number 30 with The Man Who Can’t Be Moved. Their previous hit We Cry peaked at 15.

Polydor act Saturdays will claim the singles chart’s highest new entry with If This Is Love, which is expected to enter in or around the Top 10, while among the possible tracks moving into the Top 40 for the first time are new singles from Mercury’s Rihanna and Atlantic signing Natty.

Parlophone’s Coldplay, who reclaimed the albums chart crown this past Sunday, are likely to make it a seventh week at the top with Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends. Polydor’s Abba best of Gold – Greatest Hits, which narrowly missed out on returning to number one last weekend, is the Codlplay album’s closest challenger again, with A&M/Polydor act Duffy’s Rockferry close behind.

Nine Inch Nails’ new album The Slip, released on their Null Corporation label, is aiming to give the band a fifth Top 10 album in the UK, while rock veteran Alice Cooper’s new SPV album Along Comes a Spider is expected to debut in the Top 20.

Other brand new entries to the Top 40 will include Columbia-signed Ida Maria’s first album Fortress Round My Heart, the self-titled new by Interscope/Polydor act Scars On Broadway and Roadrunner act Soulfly with Conquer.

The complete Top 40 midweeks singles and albums charts are on Musicweek.com and are updated daily.

Haha, yeah, that Mama Mia film has just been released over here so everyone is going mad buying their greatest hits.

Nope! :)

In the meanwhile, Viva La Vida Single is 3rd in San Marino and 20th in Latvia...

Violet Hill in 14th in South Africa and 9th in Argentina...
