I don't really want to hear Fix You, but I'm always up for Trouble. And I love what they've done with Yellow. Seriously, it makes me want to hear it in concert. That's what I like about Coldplay in concert is that they find new ways of playing songs that have been played and played and played so that it's fresh.

 

Plus, there's a lot of people who aren't a big of fan as you or me who are seeing the band for the first time. I'd be pretty pissed if they didn't play Yellow or Trouble.

 

One that I am sick of is In My Place. UHG.

They're doing yellow acoustically now, and it's really quite refreshing. And also remember that they turned trouble into this stupid acoustic thing for the twisted logic tour, so I'm looking forward to the return of the real version.

i see what you mean but of course they're gonna play the songs. what i'm happy about though is how they made yellow an acoustic song (like we got to hear on the online conert, bbc thingy)

I think what would be better, is to just mix the set up a little on each night. I saw them a good few times on the twisted logic tour and it was basically the same set every time, it was only in Paris that there was a significant difference. I would love to see them go down the Radiohead route, where they just play what they want to play, you never now what they're going to open with and the whole show doesn't revolve around mass sing-alongs to the hits and elaborate stage set ups which can't be changed.

Why cant you just leave Fix you and Trouble in the setlist and expand it by around 5-8 songs like normal Headlining bands charging $100 a ticket.

Hey here's a thought.. if you don't like a song that they're playing, just simply cover your ears. Problem solved and let the rest of us enjoy it. :)

I fail to understands peoples logic here. If you don't like the way they perform live then don't go. Nobody's forcing you. Give some other fan the opportunity to go instead.

i would agree with the orginal poster if I had seen them a bunch of times before. But since i havent I'll take anything.

I love the way they perform live, and I will not miss a gig just because I'm tired of one or two songs, I'm guessing none of the other people saying the same thing here would either. That's along the lines of 'I won't go to the sumptuous banquet I've been invited to because I'm bored of one of the fantastic fifteen courses on offer'!

Don't act stupid. Nobody is saying they don't like the the Live shows, it's just that when you've seen them a few times you don't just wanted to hear the same songs over and over. We want them to dip into the back catalogue a bit more and play some of the great B-Sides or less commercial songs from the albums, not just falling back on Yellow and In My Place all the time. That said, I love the new acoustic version of Yellow and so maybe that's the direction to be going, give the older played out tunes a bit of a liven up! The boys have enough anthems ok. I know people are going to get on here and say it's all well and good for me to say this, but 'what if you've never seen them before?' Well, that's a good excuse if you live in Mongolia or if you're 14 years old, but the truth is you should have seen them by now as they've been knocking around a good deal of time now and they tour a lot harder and play a lot more than other big bands. Or you could just be a Johnny come lately?!

I could go without Yellow and Fix You!!!! I still do love Trouble and Clocks though. I do wish that they could play more shows even every once in a while geared more towards the fan.

Fix You is a great tune for a sing along - isnt that what going to gigs is all about.

 

I saw them do Trouble live years ago and again, a great singalong.

 

If we had it our way they would play virtually every song recorded live - but each tour will see surprise songs included and omitted.

 

Personally, I'm no fan of 42 even hough its a new song, and i could do without In My Place, but i take what I'm given.

What many of you don't seem to realize is that for a band this popular, playing gigs this big, many fans go to the gigs specifically to hear the "hits" pounded out by rote. The band is really put into a no win situation here, if they cater to the "hardcore" fans by playing deep cuts and b-sides much of their audience will likely have no idea what's being played, and if they merely played a "greatest hits" set, they will face critisism from their more dedicated fans. Many bands have talked about how difficult it is to balance these situations.

 

That said, there was a published photo of coldplay rehearsing for this tour with a list of songs to practice and it included a fair amount of lesser known songs (Daylight, Sparks etc.)

Personally, I don't need to hear Yellow, Fix You, The Scientist, or In My Place live ever again (5x is enough for each). I never cared for them as singles, and I can name about 30 other songs and b-sides I would rather hear first. But let's be realistic here: The Rolling Stones play Start Me Up and Brown Sugar every show. Although us die-hards love to hear new stuff live, Coldplay will always play to the masses.

By the way, my eyeballs would explode if they played Daylight. That's in my Top 5 all time for Coldplay songs.

I'd hate to lose Clocks, it's so full of energy. I've seen them perform Yellow 3 times and Trouble twice, Fix You once....of those three I'd lose Yellow.

 

I've seen them three times, but can understand that many people who haven't ever seen them are hoping they'll play all their hits.

I've seen the band a couple of times and I don't think I could ever get sick of "Yellow" or "Clocks." I could definitely do without anything from X&Y and there never is enough of their old old old stuff. I'd like to hear Shiver!
