It was 'Don't Panic' for me. And I suppose 'Fix You' as well.

I had heard COLDPLAY songs before, but had never bothered to listen to everything. But then one day as I was watching GARDEN STATE, and 'Don't Panic' played, I knew I just had to get it! So I did.

And I remember hearing 'Fix You' on THE OC before it was even released as a single over here in Australia -- this was around the same time that I downloaded 'Don't Panic'. So on that day, I went on AMAZON, wrote down all the track names from each album and downloaded them.

Now, I have never stopped listening to them. They are truly my favourite band!

:D:D:D

I'm probably the most recent fan here, haha.

It was in Live8 where I first saw them.

I had heard of them before, but I hadn't listen to their music.

I remember straighting my hair in my room while watching Live8 and when they came on and sang "In My Place" I went "Hmm, that singer is sexy. I'ma go look that band up."

And I'm happy I did. Next thing I knew, I bought X&Y.

And I haven't look back since !

Hahahaha

I remember I liked yellow, but for me it was a 30 second clip of trouble on amazon, and I just knew that I had to own the record.

Speed of Sound, I did not know the name of the band at first until I seen the video again then I listened to nothing but Speed of Sound for 2 months...

Let me tell a long story quickly: Yellow. Best friend's band. 8th grade talent show. Awesome. Looked it up on Napster. Parachutes that Christmas.

Any questions?

the scientist

in one of very few times watching vhi (i think, could have been mtv) a music video came on with a guy laying on a mattress in the middle of the street. everything went backwards well the music went forward. the video was fucking awesome, the song was fucking awesome...and it turned out the band was pretty fucking awesome too!

id have found coldplay somehow, but im pretty damn pleased it was that song and video

For me it was Trouble, broke up with this girl a long long time ago and spiraling into depression afterwards wouldn't have been the same without Trouble. That obviously led me to Warning Sign and some of their other tracks and finally their other stuff which I found absolutely amazing.

I hated "Yellow" when it first came out, for some reason. I remember thinking the lyrics were just stupid. I liked the video, though. I liked "Trouble," and liked "The Scientist" even more, but still didn't really listen to Coldplay or hadn't bought any albums.

When X&Y came out, I heard "Speed of Sound" and was initially amazed at how similar it was to "Clocks" and how "they were getting away with that shit." LOL Then suddenly, I started really liking the song, and listened to more of X&Y, and suddenly, I was hooked.

x&Y WAS A REALLY GREAT ALBUM in my opinion

Many (maybe 4 or 5) years ago, my brother Nick played parachutes in the car on a car trip, I never payed that much attention, but I remember liking don't panic and HYSTW no.1 from a mix he had. That was long ago though, my real discovery of coldplay came from hearing speed of sound either on TV or the radio when my taste in music was slowly developing. I put it on a burned mix of mine, and a couple years later saw X&Y in Nick's C.D. case, I was going off to camp so Nick let me borrow the C.D..

I fell in love with the album there, when I got back, Nick advised I pick up parachutes...I loved that even more, and for christmas I got him a new copy of AROBTTH(his broke) I ripped the tracks to my mp3 player right before a curling trip and...'lo and behold, I loved that even more!

So...I guess SOS.

Talk and Clocks

cause they were always played, then i downloaded the Scientist, and that made me the huge fan I am.

Fix You. Well, it's the most overrated song of theirs. :D

But, the first song that I heard was Yellow.

Clocks was the flashy hook, but once I had heard Yellow, that was the song that turned me into a big fan.

The first CP song I heard was Speed of Sound on MTV. I loved the video (and I still do), and a few weeks later my uncle gave me X&Y...and then I went to my first concert and so on...:)

Yellow

First time I heard it I fell in love. I found out who is playing the song and I went I bought the album. Since than I'm a fan.

Slightly different one here...........

My song?

Just The Way I'm Feeling by Feeder

That song got me into Feeder.... who were supporting Coldplay in Manchester for the AROBTTH tour.... so i went along to see Feeder, didn't really like Coldplay..... but Coldplay absolutely blew me away!

^That's hilarious!

And extremely lucky!

Tell me about it!!!

And thinking about it, that night really did change my "musical life". It was my first gig and really got me into live music. And also, you have to see Coldplay live to appreciate them fully.

It says a lot that i probably only knew 5 or 6 of their songs (and wasn't a fan of theirs), but that concert was so good. To enjoy music you've never heard before is quite amazing (especially for me who is rather fussy!!)

I doubt i would have been into them as much as i am now if i hadn't have gone along that night.

The first song I heard was Trouble on a UK video tv channel. Back then I hated it...Then my friend sent me 'The Scientist', again I took an instant disliking (Didn't know they were the same band).....however something made me listen to it a few times more, and my perception changed so much.

I bought AROBTTH and Parachutes moments later, and was addicted in the run up to X&Y.

Now they're certainly my favourite band :)

First song I'd heard from the boys was "Yellow" back in 2000. But it wasn't until "The Scientist" that I totally fell in love with them and their music.

The scientist, I had heard some of their songs before but never was obsessed but the scientist really caught me at the perfect time.

The Scientist...

I remember seeing the video and really liking it. Then it seemed like I'd always see that video on TV and the more I listened, the more I loved it. Despite this, I can't say I became a true fan until I heard "Speed of Sound". At that point, they were officially stuck in my head for life. :D
