The Goldrush Lyrics

Sorry if this is already up somewhere, but I couldn't find it.

They've been selling "tour program" things at the concerts, which have (among other things) the lyrics for all VLVODAAHF songs...and also the mysterious song "The Goldrush", which apparently isn't the same as "Death Will Never Conquer" at all. If you don't have a program yet and can't wait, here's the lyrics according to it:

I went digging for gold

Down by the river

Over by the mountain

Where the prospektor had been told

I'm marching through the cold

We're marching through the cold

I went digging for gold

I went down with my brother

A bucket and a shovel

and a book about the colour of coal

I'm marching through the cold

We're marching through the cold

There's a tiny little crackle on the telephone line

Saying what use the metal if the metal

don't shine?

She said bring me back a diamond/ring

cause I really want one

Now I been digging so long that I never

see the sun

And yes, that word in the fourth line is spelled exactly how they spelled it. ;)

(My first thread, yay!)

AWESOME.

Sounds basically about being kind of like that line in Fix You

"when you were too in love to let it show"

being wrapped up so much in looking for something that you forget to enjoy life.

:D

Wow!!

thank you SO much :)

Do they have lyrics for Sleep Chant? (And so much for the reason they don't put lyrics in the CD booklet!!)

Unfortunately, no, it doesn't. I guess they didn't think the lyrics were important for that one, or maybe they just didn't fit. :\

It does have them for Reign of Love, though, and that one's pretty hard to understand, too:

Reign of love

I can't let go

To the sea I offer this heavy load

Locust wind

Lift me up

I'm just a prisoner in a reign of love

Locust wind

Here I stop

How I wish I'd spoken up

To a reign of love

Reign of love by the church we're waiting

Reign of love on my knees go praying

How I wish I'd spoken up

Away get carried on a reign of love

Thanks a lot!

Maybe this song is the same one once called "Prospekt's March"

Could be...it does talk about Prospekt(or) and a lot of marching. ;)

thanks..

could you scan it??? pleaseee

I might do a scan of it later, though the page with the lyrics isn't that interesting...just a black background and gold text. Plus, I'm not sure my scanner's big enough. :P

Here you are telling me its the same song. Wow, I was right!! YAY!!

Thanks for posting the lyrics mate, brilliant to get a reference to Prospekt in some lyrics :)

I will admit defeat in this case then. :laugh4: Although, I just remember at one of the early shows that someone put "The Goldrush" on the setlist instead of saying "Death Will Never Conquer." But I'm quite happy this is a completely different song--more new Coldplay!

CONFIRMED!: WILL SINGS THE GOLDRUSH!

http://www.musicweek.com/story.asp?storycode=1034700

Martin says, “We're hoping to do this thing where we give away a song with every ticket. We have this song called The Goldrush, which Will sings. We want to play it as part of the show, so we'd like to give it away with the ticket. That way the only people that know that song will be the people coming to the concerts.”

Thanks!

Maybe the lyric in this thread really is "Prospekt's March", right?
