Oh if they don't win and anything and get screwed, like at the AMAs:angry: no one will want to know me February 9th!!!

the AMAs are based on record sales and/or radio plays, if i remember correctly. and if i'm right, the grammys are based more on the quality of the music rather than just the popularity. i don't necessarily see coldplay losing 7 times, but i figure they'll win 4 or 5 of what they're up for. i'm especially pessimistic about album of the year, though

i love awards season :wacky:

I hope you're right Chelsea.

With Radiohead there I am so very pleased I can't watch it live. CRINGE

If they don't win anything then something is wrong with the world. As long as they win at least four of the awards they are nominated for then I will be a happy camper. Any less and they will be labeled as robbed and the Grammy voters better watch their backs with all of the angry Coldplayers after them.

I dont mind if radiohead beats coldplay on best album (in fact I think it's fair)

But if violet hill, nor viva la vida won anything then I'll be very very very angry

I really really hope they get album of the year!!!!!!

4 or 5, thats optimistic^^

I'm frightened to death of little (lil isn't a word, so I won't use it) Wayne winning. Us here in the states don't like Coldplay as much (mind boggling!). Although part of me is hoping Grammy voters will listen to little Wayne and think "why would I give album of the year to an album about F***ing and whores and bitches and shooting people and just wanting money?" If our guys don't win, I'd be VERY pleased with it going to Radiohead (and I'm sure Chris and Co. wouldn't mind at all either!)

^they would probably be happier that they didn't beat one of their heroes!

True for some reason a lot of people in the US like rap and all that shit like "lil wayne". I don't see how or why!! But I think a LOT of people also really love coldplay!!! Look at the facts!

Coldplay better win!!

Radiohead would probably be my second choice too.

But my first choice better win!!

Rap music is popular music but I would not say that a lot of people like it. It appears that way because of the media. Anyways, most rap music buyers are white teenagers and not African-Americans so it makes sense that it appears to be the most popular because white teenagers is the targeted audience of the media.

Personally, I don't think all rap is bad. I think Outkast truly deserve Album of the Year a few years ago. Now, I have not heard Lil' Wayne's CD but do we know for sure that he's talking about shooting people? I know sex is a big theme on his CD but I don't know about shooting. The reason why I am asking this is because of the stereotype of rappers rapping about shooting, and that is not always the case. Perfect example: Outkast.

The thing that might hurt Coldplay, at least in the Record of the Year category, is the fact that they won that category not that long ago. The voters might not want to give it to them again so soon. Plus, the voters tend to go in cycles. One year rap music is honored more, then another year rock is honored more, and so forth. If I remember correctly, rock music was the big winner a few years ago with Green Day and U2 taking the big awards.

Lil Wayne - 3 Peat

"I Might go crazy on these niggas, I don't give a motherfuck

Run up in the nigga house, and shoot his grandmother up, what!

What? I don't give a motherfuck, get cha baby kidnapped

And ya baby motherfucked

Don't you eva fix ya lips unless you bout to suck my dick"

Yeah, let's award THAT! That sounds MUCH better then Coldplay!

i don't know about 4 or 5 grammy wins being that optimistic. coldplay are a big act that got great reviews this year--i think 3 is probable, 4 is borderline realistic, and 5 is hopeful, yet very possible. that's just me, though.

Thanks for posting that lyric. Like I said, I am not familiar with Lil' Wayne but, out of due respect, there is a stereotype in rap music that rappers rap about shooting and that is not always the case.

It sounds like you guys are awarding Lil' Wayne already. You have to remember, you don't know what is going through the voters minds when they vote. The main reason why his CD nominated is because of the sales. It sold over a million copies in its first week. The Grammys tend to give nominations based on things like that, but that does not mean he will win it. Personally, I don't think he will, but they are willing to acknowledge the fact that he set a record which is what they like to do.

That is very true! Hopefully they'll listen to the lyrics and then listen to Radiohead and Coldplay and see that there's no comparison. Radiohead and Coldplay have substance and originality. While Lil Wayne is very popular I was looking at the reviews for it on iTunes and it seems most people prefer Kanye (as do I!) to him. His stars are 3 to Radiohead and Coldplays 4 1/2! I like old school rap. Biggie and Pac, they had something to say! I also LOVE Outkast! but now with little wayne...

UGH.....

*vomits in trash can*

I don't care who won what when. COLDPLAY FUCKING DESERVES THIS AWARD.

They deserve what award? All of them? Or some of them? As much as one likes the band, one still has to be impartial in the whole process. That's not to say that the voters are impartial because I don't think they are but they are supposed to be impartial. I personally would award them all 7 awards because I think the quality of music is better, but that is not what the voters may think.

Listen...I am just trying to point out some issues with the Grammys. You may not like what I say but it's how the business goes. Though things lately have been turned upside down, the Grammy can, do, and have follow certain patterns. So, just ignore what I say.

I also like to think that Coldplay had a number 1 single! Their first ever! Their concerts sold out all OVER the place! When they were on the Today show for the free concert in New York, they said it was the biggest crowd they'd ever had, and they've had on some big names!

So I think they are gaining in popularity alot, but I'm still pessimistic because they lost to Kid Rock :veryangry2: at the People's Choice Awards.

I was talking about Album of the Year. But they really do deserve them all. They've worked SO hard, their music is amazingly beautiful and just plain awesome! And they've had huge success! Coldplay is such a fantastic band!! I really think that they truly deserve it!!

You know your sig does say "Coldplay...nobody makes music better"

And I agree with that!

And Coldplay's sales weren't phenomenal this summer?!? And even up until and including now?!

I'm talking about Lil' Wayne and why he probably was nominated. Coldplay's sales were phenomenal but they did not sell over a million copies in a week. Sales for CDs have not really been that good, so when a CD sales that many then the Grammys are going to take notice. Heck, I'm not familiar with the rapper but I even noticed his sales. That is impressive considering the economy.

Old school rap was about the issues facing the African-American community. Today's rap is not about that. With the excpetion of Outkast, 99.9999% of rap sucks balls.

In the big categories like Album of the Year, voters from all the music categories get to vote and I can not imagine a voter from country music voting for him and that is why I don't think he'll get it.
