for Coldplay, VLV *is* pretty advanced and innovating. seriously, listen to X&Y, then VLV. relatively speaking, that's really a big step forward. but then i think x&y was rubbish so :\

I understand what you try to say. X&Y is one shitty record when i think back of it. VLV is nothing more then a feel-good record in my opinion. It's way better then X&Y, but not a masterpiece. It feels and hears so commercialized. Prospekt's March EP the same. Not bad, but i can't listen for more then once a week. Coldplay has become a milk factory... Now Parahutes & A Rush of Blood To The Head, now that were really fantastic albums. That's where my current history and choice of music all started when i was 14 years old. But after AROBTTH it went downhill.

It all depends on your musical tastes....as I must disagree and say I think X&Y was a GREAT album and I enjoy some of the songs on it more than the songs on VLV. And according to my musical taste, think it was better than Parachutes & A Rush of Blood To The Head. Now that's just according to my musical tastes though. Not disagreeing with anything you're saying cos that's how you feel.

For me, VLV is tied with Parachutes. I don't think X&Y was that bad at all, I think it is their weakest, but by no means a "shitty" album. I don't think VLV sounds commercialized at all, depending on your meaning of commercialized. It doesn't sound like Britney Spears or something like that if that's what you mean. And I personally don't hear anything going downhill from A Rush of Blood or Parachutes. They're experimenting with different sounds rhythms.

I literally listen to VLV almost once a day, more so than any of their other albums. EACH song on VLV sounds like it could be a single.

I have no idea which comes first but I do know that X&Y is definitely the weakest. Sometimes I cant STAND the songs on there. Parachutes is classic, amazing mellow-y sound to it. Sounds so brilliant. Rush was boom-boom, so big sounding but had integrity, amazing.

VLV is amazing too, but it has its own sound which some people have chosen not to like because its diff from Coldpla, the same people who say Coldplay need to change instead of making the same record again and again.

The 3 Records are tied for me,All for there own reasons!! But they are all amazing!!

I'd like if they went back to a Parachutes type sound (although I'm sure this is contrary to what they, and the rest of the world, want them to do. To go backwards into the "Coldplay sound") I'm sure they want to progress sound wise and do something different. But I love the almost lullaby quality to Parachutes. Had a very indie sound to it.

Album wars again, hmm? What can I say, I love 'em all. :D

Talking about the Grammys again, I'm hoping CBS has live streaming of the event online, as I don't want to have to deal with the pesky West Coast time-delay while everyone else already knows who won the awards. :veryangry2:

Listening to Radiohead live from Santa Barbara (free 2 hour concert from last year! GREAT quality AND FREE!!!) and I'm floating about 10 feet off the ground

i lolled so hard with all the fanboys & girls in this thread. Coldplay have achieved a lot in a few years, but what i read from some people here is complete b*llsh*t.

VLV so original? Lol no, why? because there are some bells en multiple backing vocals doens't mean it's so utterly original. It's just the same old repeat of a good cathchy pop tune & some decent lyrics.

I agree, coldplay have the ability to make some very good pop tunes with better lyrics than the rest of crap you hear on omgwtfbbq MTV en radiostations, but comparing them and saying they're better and more innovating then Radiohead is just playing dumb.

What Radiohead did is unbelievable. Without any doubt one of most innovating bands since Beatles, Queen, Pink Floyd etc.. Hearing OK Computer (1997) makes records from today still sound so fucking broing & unorignal. Then Kid A, whatever people say VLV is advanced and innovating, listin to Kid A & Amnesiac... & prepare to sh*t your pants...

And then the lyrics... Thom yorke's lyrics just go into your spirit & to the back of your spine. The music is so much more subtle en emotional...

Now you can start attacking me ;-)

This is just your opinion. Radiohead's music might make you s**t your pants because, IYO, it's so good but for someone else it might make them turn off the stereo. And the same can be said of Coldplay's music. Some people hear VLV hear something different and innovating, for them, but others might hear the same old commercial pop. In the end, musicial tastes are just opinions and not facts, and that's what makes any award show interesting. They reward based on opinion and not concrete facts.

Very nicely said...as I have been trying to point this out all along!

Win atrip to GRAMMYs to see Coldplay

This is on YouTube. Can win a trip to the GRAMMYs to see Colplay at both the Neil Diamond Tribute and the GRAMMYs

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwL8oKOTa4U&feature=channel_page]YouTube - Win a VIP Trip to Grammys to see Coldplay Jonas Brothers and Lil Wayne[/ame]

Some interesting info for you all.....

Coldplay could join the prestigious group of the Dixie Chicks, Eric Clapton, and Michael Jackson (yuck!!!) by winning the Big 3 (Record, Album, and Song of the Year categories). Normally, it's hard for an artist to win the Big 3 but it does happen. The last artist to win the Big 3 was the Dixie Chicks who won it two years ago with their CD Taking the Long Way and song Not Ready to Make Nice, which was from that CD.

I would love to see this happen. If they do not win the Big 3 then I would rather see them lose Song of the Year because the other two awards are more prestigious.

I have been reading comments from music critics who think Coldplay will win Song and Record of the Year but not Album of the Year. They believe that award will go to Allison Kraus and Robert Plant since the pairing of two different musical acts is something the Grammys like. I hate to say it but I can see that happening, even though I think it would be too soon to award an act like that since they rewarded a similiar act (Herbie Hancock and Joni Mitchell) last year.

I've never been so excited for an award show before!

Usually I dont watch these shows live and wait for the next day to hear the results and watch the good parts on youtube or read recaps on entertainment websites, but I know, along with the rest of this website, I will be parked in front of the TV from the time they roll out the red carpet until the very last after Grammy interview is given.

These boys are messing with my brain!:D

I'm so nervous! I want them to sweep the top 3, but we still don't know how the lawsuit will change things... :\

Does it make me a bad Coldplay fan that I kind of want Death Cab for Cutie to win for Best Rock Song? ... nothing against Violet Hill obviously, it's just that DCfC is kind of the underdog and I have so much love for "I Will Possess Your Heart..." But I feel guilty. Maybe if they could just win the other 6 and ... you know what, never mind. ;)

I'm holding a Grammy's party for a few friends... any ideas how I could make it CP-themed? I was thinking of having the grocery store make one of those photograph-cakes with the VLV album art on the frosting. :D
