Coldplay, Duffy and the Kaiser Chiefs will all perform on the Top of the Pops Christmas special, it's been announced.

 

The winner of this year's X Factor Alexandra Burke, Girls Aloud and Dizzee Rascal will also appear on the show on Christmas Day. As previously reported on Gigwise, the BBC cancelled the Christmas show earlier this year because of falling viewing figures. But the corporation later reinstated it, along with a New Years special.

 

Burke will perform her cover of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' on Top of the Pops. The singer will be crowned the UK's Christmas number one this weekend following her huge exposure on the talent contest.

I reckon they should bring back TOTP, but only do it once a month in future.

They could also make it a rule that any song could only feature on there once, irrespective of its chart position.

That way it would always be "fresh".;)

I did a BBC Television Centre Tour on 10th of December and saw that studio. The guide told us the TOTP Special was shot the night before...

So this must have been recorded on the 9th!!

Really? That's so weird! In the first chorus they have Will singing backup so it's not as obvious, but in the last chorus when they're all doing the "woh oh oh"s and Chris gets too excited to sing exactly on time... Oops :P

 

Still, a pretty good performance, they're definitely up-and-down with VLV on TV shows- Sometimes it goes so well, and sometimes it's shit :rolleyes:

They seemed to have fun playing it at least, the crowd was pretty good during the "ohhhooh" part
