Best and Worst Big Bands\Artists Comebacks of 2008

Featured Replies

greatest- Guns and Roses (i personally like it)

Worst- britney spears

Surely Portishead were responsible for best comeback of the year.

The Verve was ok too, though their comeback album should've been better. I guess I expected too much of it. Same goes for The Notwist.

I agree with Guns N Roses being the worst.

Haven't bothered listening to the Metallica / AC/DC albums, because I don't care much for either of these bands.

Agreed. Portishead wins handsdown. I kind of forgot about them when I first read this thread.

At least a live comeback of this year & last: Rage Against The Machine :D

CATFIGHT!!

When Velvet Revolver disbanded... Stone Temple Pilot reunited with Scott and made comeback. Queen made comeback with Paul Rogers... but will never be the same without Freddie.

Velvet Revolver are no-longer?

Queen's latest album with Paul Rogers is rubbish

That's probably because Queen without Freddie are rubbish!!;)

Amen to that!

Velvet Revolver I think are still going but they're just looking for a new singer. Slash said the hunt for a new singer is going well, so I expect they'll be back soon.

Queen isn't rubbish without Freddy Mercury, they're all still brilliant musicians, but there's just no way they could ever replace Freddy.

^^^ Of course Queen can't replace Freddie because Freddie was irreplaceable. There's no doubt that they're brillant musicians but the problem is that Paul Rogers can not sing Queen's songs properly. IMO, he ruins the songs. The original Queen no longer exist and but the new Queen (there's only two original members left) are not that good. IMO, Queen should've stopped when Freddie died and Paul just needs to stick to Bad Company's music.

I disagree. Freddy told them to continue with the band after he died. Haven't you ever heard "The Show Must Go On"?

D'uh! Of course, I've heard of the song The Show Must Go On but, in this case, the show does not feel right. Freddie might have wanted them to continue on, though John Deacon thought it best to retire a few years after Freddie died, but it's not the same. The appeal, the magic, and the spark is not there. Just because a band was good in the beginning does not mean that they'll stay that way when someone new comes in. IMO, this is the case, which is disappointing because I love Queen's music but it's no longer has that appeal.

i think alot of these comeback artist and bands need to know when they're pushing their luck. in the case of alot of older bands like The Police, Eagles, Van Halen etc there is no need to record a new album just a world tour is enough. i honestly can't think of a single comeback album by a veteran band that has impressed me. to be honest i would actually prefer it if some of my favourite bands like U2, RHCP and Bon Jovi cut back on recording and spent more time touring, it would make both musical and business sense. all the bands i have mentioned make insane amounts of money on tour off the back of fairly average records. but the poorly received music threatens their credibility.

in short comeback should not equal new album!!

hmm, the best comeback : Portishead, MBV, The Verve, Blur hopefully

the worst: Britney, Guns, Mettalica
