the_gloaming09
with the grammy's coming up soon what album would you like to win album of the year and what album do you think will win?Ā here's what's up for album of the year:Ā * Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends-Coldplay * Tha Carter III-Lil Wayne * Year of the Gentleman-Ne-Yo * Raising Sand-Robert Plant & Alison Krauss * In Rainbows-RadioheadĀ Ā personally i'd like In Rainbows win, but i have a feeling that coldplay will win

the_gloaming09
Once again I echo your sentiments :P. Parachutes was awesome. Even AROBTTH was awesome. Then downhill.Ā exactly! the first two albums are great and classic albums, and then afterwards it just gets bad. i mean honestly from the last two albums there are only a handful of songs that i like somewhat (x&y, strawberry swing, life in technicolor ii, talk... that's about it)

Space Cadet
Tough choice. Coldplay deserve it, but then so do Radiohead.Ā Plant and Krauss will win though- it's the sort of album Grammy voters automatically go for, and it's very good. deaths_friend
the grammys would never give the one genre the best album award two years in a row. so that rules out nothing since the previous winner was a Jazz album. year before was country so that hinders Robert Plants chances, year before that was Rock so that might hurt coldplay (even though ne-yo's album is closer to rock than viva la vida is). so that leaves the rnb of ne-yo, lil wayne's rap and altnernative sounds of Radiohead. Ā i'm saying Radiohead should win it. but Lil Wayne will win it. as the grammys make a desperate reach to the new generation of music fans. Ā anyone who thinks Tha Carter III is the best rap album ever quite obviously has never heard Kanye West's Late Registration or College Dropout. or even Lupe Fiasco's Food& Liquor
bjaiken
I would like to see Radiohead win it. Ā If not Radiohead, I would like to see the Plant/Krauss album win. In fact, I think this album is a very strong contender to win album of the year. Plant is a legend, Krauss is loved by the Grammys, the album is critically acclaimed, it has amazing production, and it seems like an album that Grammy voters would dig.Ā Viva is a good album, but I think it is a distant third in comparison to the other two. I do hope that Coldplay receive some type of recognition, but I do not think they deserve it for album of the year.
Open-Politik
yeah... i mean i feel that coldplay are just heading in the wrong direction. i mean listen to a song like Lost and then Trouble right afterwards, and and i feel if they're progressing backwards. :dozey:Yeah, Ill listen to 15 step and then listen to Paranoid Android and I feel backwards too. deaths_friend
i always wonder how long it will take people to realise that music is subjective. there is no right or wrong. good or bad. best or worst. just because an album wins a grammy doesnt make it the best, heck it doesnt even mean its good. all it means is that most of the few hundred people who voted like the album.Ā we can all have our opinions. i know i have my fair share, theres about 5 of them on this page alone. but insulting someone based on their views is senseless and immature. and belongs in the coldplay section of the forum

Open-Politik
Wow, really matures. Somebody has a different opinion than you, insult them. Im sorry, but its really annoying when a Radiohead fan says something about another band without letting up and tehn when it comes to Radiohead there all quiet. I mean Radiohead cant do no wrong. There perfect in all areas. Lets take the piss out of Metallica then.:dozey:
itsallcalypso
Robert Plant and Allison Krauss will most likely win. I'd love to see Radiohead win it, and I'd say they have the second best chance, but I think the Grammy voters will go with Plant and Krauss.Ā And Lil' Wayne's Tha Carter 3 is not even close to being the best cd in genre's history. It's an entertaining cd, but that's about it. Jay-Z, Nas, Kanye West, Common, Notorious B.I.G., Lupe Fiasco, etc etc all have multiple cds that are leagues better than Lil' Wayne's. I've never called people stupid for listening to Coldplay or anything like that. I mean I listen to Coldplay on occasion. itsallcalypso
i agree with your prediction and though it may not be the best of its genre ever (which many people will argue with you that it is) it is certainly the best of this year. ti sucks and kanye's was a disappointmentĀ I disagree, I think every album that it's up against for Best Rap Album of the Year is better. Jay-Z's American Gangster, Nas' Untitled, Lupe Fiasco's The Cool are all better, and TI's is very close in my opinion.
