mrman78
Yeah, I liked some of The Fray's first album, but got tired of it because of the lead singer's annoying voice. It's like he's drunk and slurs words together  I didn't even bother with their second release, even though that first single was tied into LOST (which is my fav show!). Actually, I remember thinking it was funny that VLVODAAHF had the track 'Lost!' followed by '42' (which is one of the numbers on the show) and I wondered if it was a homage to the show, ha! :D At the concert here in Houston last week, they were harking about $10 lawn seats for The Fray that day only since they were playing there on Saturday  Matt Kearney sounds SO much like Chris Martin, it's almost creepy! :uhoh: Other bands I'd say are Coldplay-esque would be Snow Patrol, Keane, One Republic (albeit more RnB). I listen to all of them
Vincymon
yep. Although I only bother with "singles from these other bands" The only somewhat-similat band whom i actually seriously dig is the killers.' The Killers have got punch ! to their music. Bands like Keane and the Fray, are competent .. but they lack the punch of Coldplay; you know, that quality that makes you not skip half the tracks on the album. alexman331
Yes, I have definitley heard alot of Coldplay-inspired music recently. But I am actually flattered by it.
majgirl
Well I hear a lot of bands claiming they sound like coldplay, but I have yet to hear anyone that I actually think does.
neonhorn22
I liked The Fray in the beginning, but their sophomore album just reeked of uncreativity. Really, bands are influenced by Coldplay just like how Coldplay was influenced by other bands. It's natural, nothing bad. :) Man, I'm with you there! Keane has a punch and they are unique, Perfect Symmetry was the best song of 08 from Q and they won something with the album. However, the Fray, the singer, similar. He can't do much with his voice like Chris can. I didn't mind the first couple singles until they became overplayed and just annoying, and the second album shows how un-original they are, self-titling it and all
Vincymon
Well, I never bothered buy an album of the Fray. I once thought of buying "One Republic" but .. they haven't really got me yet. What about safety suit. I gotta give it to them, "STAY" is more depressing than anything Coldplay ever did. Something about a girl tying her boyfriend to a chair and beating him .. just doesn't appeal to me. Its like, driving with STAY blasting from my speakers, is the equivalent of an extended kick in the nuts.

Pockets
And back to the main subject... I agree that a lot of music now is being influeced by them... I find it rather annoying,
Vincymon
I agree And back to the main subject... I agree that a lot of music now is being influeced by them... I find it rather annoying, Its ok to say you're inspired by someone ... if that musician is of age and not still mainstream. But to make music like Coldplay, while they are still relavant and kicking ... is just annoying. Its like if a girl started singing just like Beyonce now and says she's inspired by Beyonce. Its like what Pink said, immitation is not flattery, its just annoying.
