🌙 COLDPLAY ANNOUNCE MOON MUSIC OUT OCTOBER 4TH 🎵

Do you ever feel like other musicians sound just like Coldplay lately ?

Let's start with what I think is the most recent and obvious. I came across this song of David cook on vh1 and couldn't help but notice the striking resemblance with the music video for "the scientist."

Now I am not saying , that coldplay has a copyright on backward shooting. But having David cook, walk backward through a forest, and jump back clumsily over a log, and enter a car, all at the exact same camera angles as used in "the scientist" ... is a HUGE coincidence.

Now we've had the fray for a few years. But what about "All American Rejects" and "pussycat dolls" all of a sudden these two preppy bands have sad singing-on-the-beach type music videos. And besides that, every "you out to know" artist, seems to be going along the same path. Everyone is making melancholy Coldplay type music.

Its not Coldplay that sold out, it is everybody else trying to capitalize on Coldplay's style; and its getting annoying.

The only band that I can think of is One Republic. There was a alot of hype about them sounding like Coldplay. I can sort of hear it, but I reckon they've got more RnB influences.

Another song that critics/audiences labelled as Coldplay sounding was 'I Don't Do Surprises' by Axle Whitehead. Very minimal imo, but worth checking out.

One band that comes to mind is "The Fray"

amen....i dont like the fray. their too ordinary or mundane or something just nothing special. and annoying. the lead singer or whatever was on mtv and saying how he really wants to sound like coldplay and how much he loves coldpaly.....it was really annoying....

seriously. his voice is so whiney

i feel many recent bands were inspired by coldplay. especially a rush of blood to the head. the killers, keane, and the fray come to mind

not the killers......the killers in my opinion dont sound anything like coldplay.....they have this more Vegas style/ feel to them...and well they are out of Vegas so that makes sense.

Keane maybe some. but at least they are good. and yes the Fray *vomits*

They sound more like Snow Patrol to me.

Nah, they just suck :P

YouTube - Everything sounds like coldplay now[/url]

...i had toooooo...

:cheesy:

I didn't think anyone else knew about this!

What about that canadian singer MATT KEARNY or how ever his name is spelt, his voice is so simialar sounding to CHIRS MARTIN'S that people have mistaken his songs to be coldplays songs

It's Mat Kearney and I don't believe he's Canadian, from southern US methinks...

but yeah, he does sound a bit like a Coldplay copy

  • 1 month later...

I liked The Fray in the beginning, but their sophomore album just reeked of uncreativity.

Really, bands are influenced by Coldplay just like how Coldplay was influenced by other bands. It's natural, nothing bad. :)

I supposed ... but it does make the music industry feel saturated at times.. I am sure some of you have had the experience, you put on VH1 before you go to work and you feel like you are hearing a dozen different versions of Coldplay for 2 hours

Yeah the fray deffinetley is similar...but I wouldn't say they are copying...if the Jonas Brothers decide one day to sound like Coldplay :P blechh

Eww...just today I read their hand chosen playlist on a magazine and one of the songs they chose was "Lost!":(:(

^ Didn't the Jonas Brothers cover Fix You?

(I refused to listen to it)

Wtf!? are you serious. they probably murdered that song with their gross girly moaning:thumbsdown:
