Though I am a Guy fan and I do think Will is underrated, my vote went to Jonny since you could only vote for one. Looking at the question through a music fan's prespective, beside the lead singer, the next person to be the most recognizable and appreciated is the guitarist. If you ask music lovers the name of the guitarist they can name them, but I don't think a lot of people really can name Jonny. Most music lovers probably don't even recognize his guitar work and that's a shame. So, when comparing the great guitarists that are out there Jonny should be listed and recognized but sadly he's not.

Thats a good point Tracy, I'm starting to think its Jonny now instead of will.

Well, its definately not Chris.

Well, its definately not Chris.

defenitely.

EDIT:^^ I meant definitely not! Chris has enough attention.

I also think that it's Guy even if it got better I think. But when I watch some old concerts, Guy is staying in the dark and if you didn't know that they have a bass player you wouldn't really recognize him.

But the other thing is that I also alternate between Guy and Will. I think it also could be Will, because his thread is shorter than the ones for the other guys.

and what about Phil :P :D

I just can't decide whether Guy or Will.

Well, its definately not Chris.

Of course.... :dozey:

What happen to your definitely, guys? :P

:uhoh:

:embarassed:

In spite of the often-times-scary hoard of fans he has here, and even though he's opened himself up to the public eye a bit more through Twitter, I'm still going with the Berryman here.

Chris is obviously off the list instantly, and Will has gotten more attention at concerts not only through DWNC, but the fact that Chris is constantly referencing him or telling the crowd to give his backing vocals a shout-out. Jonny is less-known, and casual fans don't even know his name or Guy's, but between him and Guy, I'd say he stands out more by merely being guitarist.

The Berry Man (reference to a truck I saw), on the other hand, you have to keep a keener eye out for live. And while his Coldplaying fanbase is indeed impressive, I'm afraid the mainstream has far less appreciation for him. Hopefully his complusive Tweeting can skyrocket him to fame. ;)

:surprised: I saw a truck just like that tooo once! I went squeee inside.

Just curious to see what the forum thinks.

Personally I'd go with dear William Champion; he is a very good drummer, plays God knows how many instruments, (and plays them pretty well, too) and never gets much attention -- he's very quiet, the press doesn't care about him, et cetera et cetera. I don't think Will gets nearly enough love.

Also, I realize I didn't put a "Phil Harvey" option -- you guys don't have to point that out :P I don't mean to disrespect Phil or anything but he doesn't play actual music, so...

O you did NOT just diss Phil :whip: you know he lurks....put him up there :P i dont care if he doesnt make music

Actually, I think it's Guy. He is always referred to as a pretty face (which he obviously has) but since he's so quiet in public, he doesn't get the deserved recognition, in my opinion.

Also, he plays the most underrated instrument ever, so nobody pays attention to him as a bass player.

yeah :( bass players never get the recognition they deserve.....and the bass is my fav. instrument in bands....(and no not just bc mr. berryman plays it  i truly think its just an amazing instrument)

Will is underrated but at the same time he is getting more and more recognition this tour i think as a musician.

and yeah even tho Guy attracts all the ladies and he gets a ton of attention for his looks, as far as their musical talents.....he gets neglected the most in that area :(

he isn't just the bass player, he is a multi-instrumentalist too! you only ever here Chris or ppl say that Will is the multi-instrumentalist but really Guy knows how to play the bass, drums, keyboard, he has been doing back up vocals since X&Y, harmonica, tamborine, and whats that other instrument he knows how to play  im forgetting the name of it right now.

and whenever Chris is talking about the boys he is always saying like Will has the voice of an angel, or about Jonny's guitar riffs and how amazing they are and then when he gets to Guy its always "he makes our calendar sales" or something about his looks....so yeah sadly even Chris does it too :(

but yeah in just terms of their musical talent i would say Guy is least appreciated by ppl :disappointed:

Bwahaha thanks Rudy ! :whip::whip::whip:

Edit : OMG 2 votes for Chris ! :dead:

I'd have to say Jonny or Will....But since in all of the music videos I don't see much of Jonny, I am going to go with my Jonny boy....

I voted for Guy. In the past I'd have said him or Will, but in all the press for VLV, it's become a lot clearer how much influence Will has on the band. And as he now gets to do vocals on the C Stage, those who aren't necessarily huge fans of the band are getting to see more of him.

I think Guy does get reduced to eye-candy status by Chris sometimes with the comments he makes - no wonder he prefers hanging in the background!

I think Guy likes being underrated, so I guess it's not a big deal for him.

I don't know about Will, though. Does Will like to get attention from the crowd?

I think Jonny just gets embarrassed...

And we all know that Chris is approval-starved...if the crowd ignored him he might crawl into a hole and hide for a month. :P But I love him anyway.

When I first started listening to Coldplay. I thought despite everyone's opinion or whatever, the music-making process with the ideas and such has to be a 4 man thing.

And while it is, in a sense, because obviously each member adds something original and great or whatever. I think the major creative mind is OBVIOUSLY Chris. He comes up with the most things. I guess that's typical of being the lead singer. But I think he's the most responsible for Coldplay's music one hundred percent.

Anyways, that's kind of a moot point.

I think the most musically underrated may be Guy, he doesn't get much credit for anything.

Wahhh. 13-18. Guy fights backkk! :D

it's gotta be will for me

it's not chris obviously, and i think chris gives jonny attention. and people who dont know coldplay as well might pay more attention to the guitar player because guitar players get more attention usually than drummers or bassists. and i think it WOULD be Guy, but chris always talks about how hot he is and i think that puts him just slightly above will on this scale. so it's definitely either guy or will, but i think over all it's will.

Yeah.

But that's a bit shit. Chris tells him he's good looking, but that has nothing to do with the music. You hear Chris talk about Jonny "the best guitar player ever" and he's always telling him to step forward during his guitar parts (especially on the X&Y tour). Then with Will, Chris compliments him on his drumming abilities fairly often. But Guy never really gets "and this is the best bassline ever" you know? It's just like oh yeah, he's got a pretty face. It doesn't really have to do with the music.
