What Coldplay songs did you hate at first, but later came to love?

Featured Replies

The title is self-explanatory; what Coldplay song(s) did you hear, and at first glance, you hated it, but later came to love?

For me, they were all the classic Coldplay songs, like Yellow, Shiver and Fix You. Sad, I know. I only liked Viva la Vida and Violet Hill for a few weeks, before I began to explore the rest of Viva la Vida and all their other songs.

Everything's Not Lost and In My Place....I didn't like them until I heard them live

Politik I absolutely would not listen to at all for a year after I had AROBTTH on my ipod, now i cant figure out why i hated it so much since its freaking awesome!

Other than that, Yes was the one song on VLV that I would skip every time I listened and then I realized I love Chris' lower register.

I had a lot that I didn't like at first. A couple though would have to be Daylight and A Rush Of Blood to the Head. :shame: Yeah, there was something wrong with me.

In My Place. Same deal- only after hearing/seeing it live I began to appreciate it and now it's one of my favourites.

Cemetaries of London......i remember i thought...."they started the album off with this shit?! "

:shame: UGGHH! Im so ashamed....i love that song now, absolutely obsessed with it! I only thought that for a lil bit but still im ashamed....

also Amsterdam, Chinese Sleep Chant, Glass of Water, Twisted Logic......but i love them all now.

Hahaha. :laugh3: That was funny. I kind of thought the same, but than all of a sudden I was like, "I love this song."

Must be politik, violet hill, and strawberry swing. I got over it quickly though, thank frreaking god!! I FREAKING LOVE THOSE SONGS. Something had to be wrong with my brain

I hated Fix You for ages...but now I've seen the light and I love it! :)

I did NOT like Prospekt's March... but it was only for about two seconds until the chorus came :)

Yellow and Yes, but now I love them

Ooh. Pretty much all the songs on The Blue Room/Brothers and Sisters EP except See You Soon. I couldn't stand them, so I just didn't listen to them. However, after a week or two I decided to give 'em a shot - and grew to love them! ^^

Also, most songs that are live recordings. I usually can't stand the faint fuzziness that accopanies them, so I can't concentrate on the actual song. It takes a few listens for me to really get into them. ^^

For a long time I did not like ("hated" is a too strong word) Fix You because of Chris' very high notes / singing register in the first part of the song - the song was okay after the guitar solo set in and with the chorus. Now I quite like it. :)

Yes.

I don't know why, just didn't like it. I never heard it live (btw, why don't they play it?), but I think that might have helped. Anyway, one day I listened to it (I used to skip it), and just loved it. Not quite sure how that happened.

I couldn't stand "Fix You" until I saw it live. The studio performance does not do justice to the sing-along of thousands.

I also couldn't stand "A Message" for the longest time, as its lyrics totally grated on me. But I like its simplistic melody now, and I'll take it over at least 3 or 4 other songs on X&Y.

Green Eyes and Spies, I wouldnt listen to them for the longest tie and when I actually listened to them I adored them

(I'm gonna add a few to the list...)

God Put a Smile Upon Your Face, I hated because well, I don't know, haha. I also didn't like [iSpies[/i], Shiver and most of X&Y. :/

Gravity..... I dont know why I didnt liked it....

But few days ago I was listening to the oldies and listened to that one and loved it!

we never change.

and i guess the hardest part, since i really love the piano-only version.

I hated in my place when i was younger then i loved it now i hate it :)

I started hating Fix You, but once you hear that song live, you fall in love all over again. :nice:

And at first I didn't like Green Eyes. I don't see how that's possible now! :P

Fix you.

I still don't like the studio version of Yellow, I like the live faster version a lot though.
