Violet Hill really didn't impress me when I downloaded it, when it first came out. I was so disappointed with it! But I've really been liking it more and more with each listen, and that started just recently. :)

For me it was Politik and Yes.

Honestly... the songs I didn't like much at first were green eyes and death and all his friends. Green eyes is now one of my favorite coldplay songs ever and I really didn't start liking death and all his friends until I saw them perform it live last July. Strawberry Swing has grown on me alot, it wasn't one of my favorites on the album and now it's like my favorite!

Believe it or not, clocks and politik. 2 of my favorite songs now, I didn't even listen to all the way through the first year I had that album. Strangely something clicked and those two songs now are close to the top of my all time favorites list.

Everythings Not Lost. I didnt like this song for a long time, but i never really listened to it. Its not one of my favorites, but i like it! -Gigi

Politik and Lovers In Japan. I always skipped them. Then, I pretty much forced myself to listen to them, and now I love them!

I absolutely hated green eyes, would always skip it whenever i heard it

 

But after i went through a love story of my own I listened to the lyrics constantly, cause it felt like what Chris was singing was exactly what was going on in my head, what i felt about this girl

 

Now its my favorite song, and i think its 1 out of the 2 greatest love songs ever written (that and Layla)

I would say just about every Coldplay song had to grow on me like a fungus before I began to love them. :P

 

I didn't even start listening to Coldplay until "Viva la Vida" came out last summer (sadly). I loved that song immediately, thought it was so gorgeous. But I'm a sucker for any song with string instruments. I decided to buy "Violet Hill" a couple days later--and I hated it. I didn't listen to it for months, but now it's one of my favorites. :D I bought "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends" when it came out. I thought it was pretty good, but maybe not as great as I was expecting. I think the only ones that had to grow on me were "Violet Hill" and "Lovers in Japan," although I have not yet grown to love "Yes" or "Reign of Love."

 

Even though I'd become a new fan of Coldplay, there was still something about their old songs that I just didn't like; but one day (in September) I got the Vitamin String Quartet's version of "Clocks" and thought it sounded sooo amazingly beautiful. So a couple days later, I decided I should try to get into their older songs (including Clocks, which definitely had to grow on me). I slowly started getting more and more of their songs every day, and eventually had all of their albums' songs. Several months later I started collecting all their B-sides as well.

 

Now as far as growers go, I would definitely have to say those would be Speed of Sound, Fix You, Politik, Talk, Green Eyes, plus the ones mentioned above.

 

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot about Glass of Water. :P

i didn't like Politik & Violet Hill at all when i heard them. but i changed my mind once i heard these songs played live. especially for Politik, i think it's definitely a song that needs to be heard live to really appreciate it.

 

Violet Hill, i guess it's just that it was different from the band's previous stuff. which is a good choice as their 1st single from the then new album to show the change/evolution. but it's grown on me since then. more so after hearing it live.

I didn't hate any, but I do like Everything's Not Lost and Warning Sign now a lot more than before.

I didn't really hate it but it was Yellow the one that didn't really catch my attention but later on I came to love it.. especially after seeing it live

Viva la Vida... first time I heard it I though OMG they made a f***ing jingle! Now I am ashamed lol.

most of the a rush of blood to the head i hated, then something clicked and i was like

"what the hell was wrong with me?" its my favorite album. ("politik" im so sorry!)

 

also for the album viva la vida i just really didn't like it, all i could think was x&y was better, and that it was kind of boring, then i actually listened to the songs and payed attention, and i really love this album too!

Politik. First time I heard it I was like "Okay...that was...interesting".

 

 

Now I love it.

I always like see a song on my iTunes and go.. oh yeah that's not one of my favorite Coldplay songs for sure. Then I listen to it and it all changes.

Rush of Blood and Yes. :)
