I think they should see what they can do with their new sound, with Ken Nelson

I just want them to get a nice, reassuring producer who will suggest that Coldplay go back to their roots and rediscover their insecure early years. :P

And didn't Eno say that Coldplay's sound was too repetitive and that Chris's lyrics weren't good enough? I thought that's what he said before he started working with them. I could be wrong, though.

He didn't say that exactly. He said that their songs were too long and they relied on the same tricks. And Chris said that when he'd write a song and show Eno, Eno said he could do better. So Chris would work on it more till it got better.

I like Eno, but I'd rather have Jon take full control.

You know...sometimes we have differing opinions, but I'm in your corner on this one. I like Jon Hopkins.

The first time I listened to Insides all the way through, I felt like it was touching my soul.

Assholes this isn't a Brian Eno v no Brian Eno debate.

This is a fucking JON HOPKINS v no Jon Hopkins (in other words I'm a faggot) debate.

Assholes who don't know the difference between Brian Eno and Jon Hopkins.

I'm pretty sure we all know the difference. We're all pretty big Coldplay fans, and with them being so close to the band, it would be hard for us to confuse the two.

You know, but half these twats don't.

siiiiimmmmeeerrrrrrrrrrrr

Light through the veins isn't the best ambassador for the album. vessel, colour eye small memory and the low places are tremendous tracks though. If you're interested in Hopkins check out the album 'Opalescent'.

*gasp* he really did say that

meanie....

He said that?? I'm not sure I like him anymore...

oh come on, surely you can't deny that he was exactly right in describing X&Y that way.

They deny any negative comments made about Coldplay. They think Coldplay is flawless.

Considering LiT might be the best track on the album. Yeah, I wouldn't mind.

I think John Hopkins is brilliant and yes he should produce the next record.

What about Markus Dravs? He's hardcore but...come on.Neon Bible.

Well what did you expect? This is a coldplay forum for pete's sake.

Thinking on it Jon would be freaking great for them. He is our generations Eno.

And to all you twats who hate Eno for telling Chris the truth, good thing you arent in the music business. Eno god damned well saved Coldplay, and helped them make a great album. Eno is one of the greatest musical geniuses of all time. Do you think U2 would be where they are without Eno, no way.

I do agree they need to look into Hopkins as a producer in the future. I just want them to finish what they have going with Eno for now.

Just because he's a decent musician doesn't necesaarily mean he'd be a good producer. Brian Eno has tons of actual experience producing some of the greatest albums ever made. Coldplay and Hopkins should definitely collab again though.

Agreed on all points. Although I think VLV was disappointing I think it would have been a hell of a lot worse if it weren't for Eno.

I agree with Josh.

Even if Hopkins doesn't have production experience, you gotta start somewhere. I just thank god Bono pulled Eno out of "Retirement" in 84

I say just steal Radioheads producer:P

that would be interesting! I'd LOVE to see/hear that!

You know what would also be interesting? If Matt Bellamy joined Coldplay. Doesn't mean it's a good idea though.
