I don't think the RSVP thing is for a 'competition' or sthg to win.... Since they build all the website around the 'invitation theme', they put the usual 'contact' under this term 'RSVP' to go with the theme, but I don't think that we'll get sthg by answering it..

Yes I noticed that too in the South Bank Show, they'll be the first band to write a song specifically about the Christmas lights I think.
