FUCK YES! Finally a decent line up. And I predicted a fair few of these. Can't help but notice Best Coast aren't on it. Second announcement perhaps?

Beach House, Yeasayer, The Holidays, Cut Copy, Cloud Control... plus

FOALS AND TWO DOOR!!!!!!!

SO THERE IT'S INSANE

You been listening to the holiday's debut, grace? It's really different, cool with all the layered instrumentals

I'm yet to actually get the album but I've been listening to them a fair bit on youtube/myspace, and I really like it! I love all the different layers, and the way you can find something new in the song every time you listen to it... that's one of the reason's I fell in love with Foals' new stuff, too :wacky:

im there!! but really need some peoples to join me!!

Haha, I'll likely be going by myself. All my friends are either too stingy/not obsessed with the bands enough/don't even know the bands to go, lol. I'm kinda getting used to going to festivals alone, as sad and unloved as that makes me sound :P

You can always stay in Brisbane an extra month and go to the Brisbane one! Haha.

^^

Haha, always!!

I'm sure we could make one, anyway....

I'd love to say I am going alone too so I could join the fun but it's not the case, there's heaps of my mates that want to go.

Aww Alex, that's too bad! :P

But at the same time, that's heaps awesome for you, to have so many like-minded friends.

I got them hooked on last years laneway that helped!!!

did anyone watch triple j presents on monday night. i recorded it so i will upload it and the other shows once the series is over.

like i predicted it was only 30mins long which in terms of LCD soundsystem music is only 4 songs namely Drunk Girls, Someone Great, New York I Love you and Daft Punk is Playing. still it was wonderful it watch a gig i went to.

^ no I missed it cos I had a really early start that day and the next, but I look forward to your upload! :D

Also, Laneway isn't generally a fast-selling festival is it..?

  • Author

you can never tell these days. im not going to take a risk and wait too long.

im in the process of using my lawyering skills to talk some people into spending $125 on this fest haha

Can't say I am a fan of LCD Soundsystem sorry.

Yeah expect Laneway tix to sell out in <5mins for each one. Seriously. Melbourne is only 8,000 capacity, and with this line up...

Haha cool you're studying law??

I'm not going to leave it long, but it shouldn't be sold out within a couple of hours should it? Perhaps I'm being paranoid but I don't really want to skip the lecture I'll have on :P

Lol posted that before reading your post Alex, I'll skip the lecture then :P

personally i dont think this years line up is as strong as 2010 which had names like mumford n sons, florence, the xx, echo n bunnymen, sarah blasko, dappled cities, eddy current and the middle east and that didnt sell out for weeks, at least in sydney.

but like i said you never know in todays live music climate.

also something tells me, arcade fire might be here as part of the Sydney Festival. i guess the only reason i say that is because owen pallet is here at the same time. and i can really envisage arcade fire playing an interesting quirky venue in sydney and doing similar things in melbourne and brisbane. it takes place through january so you never know.

and yes grace i study law. dont judge me. :P

I'd skip the lecture if I were you. So many people this year were pissed off with the BDO line up so they'll go to laneway. That problem didn't exist last year and they still sold out

are you kidding dude? last years line up got absolutely hammered. you take Muse out of that line up they wouldve been lucky to sell 10 tickets. lily allen and dizzee rascal on the main stage? mars volta as 3rd last act? i would say this years line up is much much stronger overall but will draw in the type of crowd i dont particularly like and i think a lot of people are like me, which has meant slower ticket sales in sydney at least. that combined with tool being recycled just 3yrs after their last headlining appearance has had an impact.

but in saying that i still think laneway will sell out quick but not instantly.

Lol no judgement here! I know a few awesome law students :awesome:

Hmm that festival thing sounds interesting, I might be making my trip back down to brisbane sooner than I thought...

Yeah I will. Who needs to learn about kidneys anyway?

Last year's line up had a lot of commercial radio appeal, ie It was more of a Triple J festival. I am not saying it was a good lineup I am saying it was an attractive lineup that pulled the big crowds. I still think 09 was brilliant... Arctic Monkeys and Neil Young... The BDO 2011 lineup has had more of a hammering on various social networking sites that will push people to Laneway.

hey guys. i thought i would start up this thread for all us aussie music lovers out there.

talk about our awesome artists and bands. all the latest and greatest songs and albums. local and international tours. our very awesome and very unique travelling (and non-travelling ) festival tours. discuss award nights, triple j radio (commercial radio chat not allowed) and our wicked community stations. and whatever else relates to aussie music

international people are more than welcome. we are NOT a racist country, dont believe what your media tells you. but if you're from the mother land (england) you have to first confess that in reality we are better than you in cricket.

current topics
