White Lies: Touring with Kings of Leon was better than with Coldplay

White Lies have said supporting Kings of Leon on their recent North American tour was better than their past warm-up slots for Coldplay and Snow Patrol.

Bassist Charles Cave said the experience of playing with Kings of Leon had been “fantastic” and revealed both groups had grown close on tour.

"It's probably the most enjoyable support tour we've ever done, sorry (Coldplay frontman) Chris Martin, sorry Snow Patrol,” he told BBC 6 Music.

"We just had a lot of downtime where we could actually spend some time hanging out.

“When you're touring America it's pretty hard to get planes back home every night so it means you're all in it together.

"There was a real family vibe about the whole thing."

White Lies had previously supported Coldplay on the UK leg of their 'Viva La Vida' jaunt.

Meanwhile, the London trio also rubbished reports that the members of Kings of Leon were struggling to get along with each other.

Drummer Jack Lawrence-Brown said the four-piece were having “a really great time and they all seem to have become really comfortable with what they're doing”.

It had been claimed that singer Caleb Followill and his bassist brother Jared had fallen out over writing credits on the band's next album.

:shocked2: How could he say such a thing?!? I'm disgusted! (sarcasm...)

oh okay.I get it.I thought he just liked to hang out and not do any work.

I think that is perhaps what he means. He must be a lazy ass. That and the fact that Kings Of Leon may be more of the "merrymaking" sort than Chris Jonny Guy and Will if you know what I mean. :uhoh:

I like White Lies. But the lead singer is a bit weird. He reminds me of Pete Doherty slightly. :laugh3:

I'm more peeved that he said, "...sorry Chris Marin, sorry Snow Patrol..."

How did Coldplay get turned into one person and Snow Patrol still stayed a full band?

I know! Why is that everyone always seems to turn Coldplay as a whole into "Chris Martin"?!? It gets on my nerves BIG time. It's like, hello! Coldplay is a BAND. Not a one man artist! :\ And you'd expect more from him considering he toured with them and didn't call Snow Patrol "Gary Lightbody"!

I love a handful of White Lies songs, and I don't really see this as a slight to Coldplay. He's not really putting them down, he's just saying that hanging out with Kings of Leon (the guys themselves) was great. I'm 100000% sure they'd still love the experience with Coldplay more if they would have had the same face time with our guys, though.

I don't think that perception is unique to White Lies: it's Joe Public's too. Just look at Brian Eno's take on the band (from the SBS) as well if you want further proof.

Agree. There neither is a 'Chris Martin Band' nor a 'Gary Lightbody Band'. Maybe he just said Chris and Snow Patrol because Chris is more famous than Gary and a lot of people would have been like 'Who the hell is this Gary guy?'.

Anyway. I understand why they say they liked touring with Kings Of Leon more. Coldplay are so busy and barely have time to hang out with anyone. And if, I guess they'd prefer their families. ;) But so it is.

Didn't White Lies tour with Kings Of Leon longer than with Coldplay and Snow Patrol anyway?

I recall reading in a Coldplay.com interview (I think it was White Lies, but could be wrong) stating that they didn't really get much of a chance to communicate with Coldplay and merely got a thank you card. It's true that Coldplay is one of the busiest bands, and as popular as KOL may be, I'd imagine they have much more downtime.

Erm.. okay :uhoh:

I really like White Lies but what he said is rather weird, unless they've only met Chris as said Mich...

I do think it's weird that the guys didn't find 5minutes to meet their support acts, and KoL are kinda more available guys, so I understand somehow
