Am I the only one who thinks The Hardest Part (X&Y) is total crap, BUT...

Featured Replies

The solo version on Leftrightleftrightleft with Postcards from Far Away is absolutely incredible? Seriously I had always considered The Hardest Part to be one of the worst coldplay songs--perhaps THE worst, but when I saw them live in Cinci and he played his solo set with The Hardest Part...it was life changing. The lyrics felt so much more personal, where on the album it felt very pretentious and forced.

I also just feel like I've connected with that song a lot more now that I'm trying to get over this girl (the line "the hardest part was letting go not taking part" really got me)--but then I feel most of Coldplay's music is best listened to when you're in love or going through a breakup or something:P

I'm sure this has been discussed a thousand times but, hey, I'm new.

I actually love the original.

When I heard Chris sing it at the concert I was actually a little bummed :disappointed:

But then after listening to LRLRL a couple of times it started to sound really pretty :wacky:

But I would've like to have seen the whole band perform it....

i LOVE LOVE both versions of the song

I love The Hardest Part. The Tour version definately made me love it more though...

I'm pretty neutral toward the X&Y version, but not only do I absolutely adore the live piano version, but hearing that actually made me appreciate the original more!

Yeah, the piano version is wonderful but I admit I sometimes skip the X&Y version and I don't like skipping :embarassed:

i dont like the one from X&Y at all, but i love the lrlrl/tour version better :nice:

I USED to love the original, but I don't think I've listened to it at all since May. Hm.

I agree. The version on LRLRL is so much better. But, as a few of you mentioned already, it made me appreciate the original on X&Y a little more.

I never understood why so many people seem to hate the album version. I think the acoustic version bolsters how good the original actually is, composition wise.

The album version is good I just think the lrlrl version is better. It's a song with lyrics about getting your heart broken so the slow piano version just fits it better in my opinion. Postcards From Far Away is amazing too

X&Y version of The Hardest Part is not crap though. But, I have to admit sometimes I can't help myself to hate it, but surprisingly when I didn't listen to it for a very long time, it's not that bad actually.

Anyway, LRLRL version of The Hardest Part is undeniably wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy much better than the X&Y version!

I like the X&Y version, but I think it's overproduced. Way too much instruments, etc.

The version, they played during the tour, is simple, but it's the way this track should sound.

A single person in front of a piano singing what the hardest part is ...

Just my 2 cents.

Absolutely.

They're both... not very good... :uhoh:

You don't like the LRLRL version?

It's ok. Postcards is amazing. The performance in general is just eh overall.

Plus the girl screaming at the middle >.< Whenever I get into it she ruins it completely.

Yeah, I can see how this is one of the reasons many don't like it. But the melody is just :awesome: which I think is why the LRLRL version converted many. However, I still love both versions!

Exactly! I want to hit that girl for ruining the song

Have to agree with these. What did she scream anyway? I can't really get the exact sentence.

It sounds like she's screaming "You're hot!" at Chris.

:inquisitive:

There's a time and a place for everything. The middle of THP was not the time for that.

It sounds like she's screaming "You're hot!" at Chris.
It's more like "URRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR HAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
