Am I the only one who thinks The Hardest Part (X&Y) is total crap, BUT...

Featured Replies

Didn't Chris once say he hated the original song but liked the video? (I actually like the song and hate the video) I know Chris really likes the piano version, however.

That girl is just screaming "The Hardest Part", with LOTS of emphasis on 'hard'. Simply singing the lyrics. Nothing 'hot' about it.

You know, it just hit me. Sure, it's annoying, but whoever compiled the tracks on LRLRL from the various concerts picked it. They had almost 100 previous concerts to choose from, but that one ended up on LRLRL. Couldn't they have picked a different one, or tried to edit it out somehow? So, I suppose we can't put all the blame on the annoying chick herself...

I thought I was the only person who heard that. It's annoying and they should have picked another version. Oh, well the album was free, so I can't complain, too much.

I dont' think so... Both Chris and Will like it, but Guy and Jonny don't. Not sure as far as the video goes, but I LOVE that video, it's so corny but funny! :P

I agree that The Hardest Part tour version is what it should sound like but the one on the album is best like that because the comparisons with The Scientist if it was just solo would be too samey. I applaud them for the album version.

Now that I've actually listened to the album version recently, I have to say, I still absolutely adore the album version. The live version is still better though.

That girl really annoyed me the first time I listened to it because it was the track I was most looking forward to. I think it was recorded in Australia too. *hides face in shame*

But yeah, I agree that they should've picked another one.

Shame? Should be proud. I thought they recorded fix you at the show I went to... surely they wouldn't put two Aussie live versions, or they could because our venues have better acoustics? Well, The Hardest Part is amazing. Live or not.

I too hated that screaming in the middle of the LRLRL recording of the song. Really ruined it! But then again there were hundreds of previous shows to choose from.

Hardest part is underated but one of coldpalys best songs its one of the 'most' played songs here in radio down here.... its like in rotation on stations for some spins

it is very underrated, but I think it's quite cheezy though...:o

a) Shame because of that annoying girl

b) Yeah maybe it wasn't recorded in Australia. I really don't know. Haha

c) Our venues have better acoustics? Cool.

Noo why are you thinking it's crap???

It's so cute...maybe not the best Cp song....but surely not the worst

Saying you like the live version, you confirm my theory....it's enough listen to a song without "wearing blinkers" and without prejudices for understanding if we can find something good in it :)

I don't like the LP version at all, however I love the live piano version for very specific reasons:

1. The LP version sounds too upbeat & poppy for the lyrics. I mean Chris is singing about "the hardest part" and the beat is light & breezy. The piano version is more soulful and matches the sentiments of the song.

2. I love the harmony between Chris & Will in the live version. You can clearly hear Will and he's got a great voice and blends beautifully with Chris.

3. Postcards blends so well with it, they sound like they belong together.

4. That girl is annoying.

I totally agree that the LRLRL version is better

me and my freind always make fun of the hardest part cause like really, you rhymed part with part? :P i love the song its jsut fun we always sing it and make fun of it :P

i always quite liked the original version, but the live slower version is so so much better!

i love both versions i think the album version is a little better 'cause of jonny's part at the end

*its not the "solo"part of the show Mr.Champion sings with chris

is there a live version of the original song anywhere?

Haven't read any of the thread, but THP was one of the best songs on X&Y for me. The live version is lovely, too though, and very tender :)

There is and I love it!!

The whole concert is great, have a look here. :nice:
