Grammys schammys, coldplayfan927. Awards mean nothing.

Oh and Radiohead, best of British pop music? Bitch please!

What did do? Why is it thumbs down? :uhoh:

Its the article or me?

Im sorry I am totally new at this.

I'm very sure it's a thumbs down because of the article, and not because of you. :) No worries!

I'm no music expert, but I'm getting pretty tired of Coldplay being compared to Radiohead. Yes, Coldplay's earlier stuff is quite similar to Radiohead's, and Chris has said they have influenced Coldplay . But I find their current styles to be very different from each other. I don't really see how you can really compare them today.

Oh, and both are pretty darn amazing bands. :D

They are so different though. The only real similarity is both use falsetto. They sing about different issues and both have different morals and values as bands.

As for who is the biggest band, that would probably be Coldplay. I don't think many of my peers really know who Radiohead is, which kinda sucks.

Im actually listening to OK Computer right now.

Coldplay are like what you get when you mix Radiohead and U2 together.

rule # 1 of life

when it comes to someone elses music

people are TURDS!!

end of story

I guess everyone is titled to their opinion, but this journo should have written a more balanced article. As far as Im concerned, although as stated already I love Radiohead...Coldplay are the best band in the world IMHO.

Horse crap. You cant compare 2 completely different bands....the journo who wrote this is obviously not a Coldplay fan!

I totally agree! You can't compare them. They're both different!

I don't think that their music is similar at all and their fan bases are different too. Coldplay and Radiohead both have successful shows in America...the person who wrote that article is an ass

well at the end of the day i don't really matter who is bigger or better band but my honest opinion is i really do think it's a tossup between U2 and Coldplay but howyousawtheworld is right in a way because all of those bands have sold more albums then both coldplay and radiohead put together and please don't get me wrong i am and i all ways will be a huge devoted fan of coldplay but i am a very honest person and i do think coldplay is incredible madly insane band i think they are the best thing that has ever happened to the music inderstry.

Coldplay, on the other hand, has built a career re-writing Radiohead's "Fake Plastic Trees" and "Street Spirit (Fade Out)" as sappy indie ballads. Creatively, Coldplay completely fails to measure up to Radiohead. However, commercially, Chris Martin and the boys could be the most successful UK rock group since Duran Duran.

False.

True.

I agree with you, that they are different. I think they were only "similar" back in the days when Coldplay came out with Parachutes (lovely album!).

They both use falsetto, true, but there is something about Thom Yorke's falsetto that just.. I don't know, it cannot be compared with Christ Martin's falsetto.

Coldplay are much better!!!

Ima go with coldplay beeing bigger than radiohead in the US .

And why not , they are bigger worldwide too :)

Coldplay are definitely more popular in terms of sales with albums. But I like Radiohead more and they are much more innovative.

Being big means nothing. Britney Spears' big.

^This

I like both of Coldplay and Radiohead (Coldplay way more) they're both big and great and just how the hell on earth do they came with the conclusion that Coldplay is similar to Radiohead (probaly Parachutes, yes) but what the fuck does the other albums have in common????

They're both awesome, not remotely similar. End of story.

As great as Radiohead are, Coldplay are far more successful and much better IMO. Of course, it always helps that the lead singer of Coldplay isn't a huge dick that many celebrities hate, whereas Radiohead... well, you can see where I'm going with this ;)

I don't care who's better, and I'm not going to go into that, but Coldplay is much bigger in the US. I tell someone "I'm listening to Fake Plastic Trees", and they ask me "Who the hell wrote that?". I say "I'm listening to Viva la Vida/The Scientist/Violet Hill" and my friends go "Oooh, I love Coldplay" or "Gah, Coldplay". So, Coldplay is by far bigger in the US. Much bigger audience, much more radio play time.

Radiohead is much larger here. I wish they were about even but unfortunately they are not. I think it might be because Radiohead has been around so long. The 90's gave many bands commercial success

I love both bands, but being from America, I hardly ever hear Radiohead on the airwaves, even when they were going strong.I believe Coldplay has seen more radio time, and their sold-out tours here out number Radiohead ever had. I would love to hear more RH on the airwaves, but it doesn't happen in my neck of the woods.

U2 is huge here in the USA
