i looked it up online and it says there is nothing official just that robert downey jr suggested it, but its not his call. i feel like there won't be one b/c of the fact they have been on tour awhile and prob didn't really have the time... maybe i donno

Hey, if your projectionist is an alright person and into it as well AND if the movie distributor isn't making a big secret out of it... watch it the night before!

Some distributors handle new movies like gold and they only arrive in the afternoon before the first performance but most of the time they arrive one day earlier here.

I work in a beautiful independent cinema however, so blockbusters like this one don't come to my cinema...

It'll be released here in January anyways :bigcry:

I'm looking forward to that movie, whether or not Coldplay contributed music :P

(I also can't wait for "The Last Station")

Before you get all suspicious – this report does come by way of ContactMusic, an U.K. publication which is often a dubious proposition – Robert Downey Jr. has spoken about Guy Ritchie pal Chris Martin from Coldplay as the one who suggested that RDJ should play "Sherlock Holmes" as a gaunt and skinny Brit, which led Downey to take on a painfully boring macrobiotic diet (hello, wifey Gwyneth Paltrow). So there does seem to a friendship connection between all these folks.

Now, Downey Jr. is saying that he is hoping to entice Martin to write some music for the "Sherlock Holmes" film that Ritchie is directing and is set for a December 25, 2009 release (we hope he means in the credits, Coldplay music does not belong in a period piece).

"We are hoping Chris Martin of Coldplay will contribute to our score," RDJ allegedly told ContactMusic, who probably swiped the quotes unattributed from another site as they're wont to do. "He’s a huge Sherlock Holmes fan. He told me you need to be really skinny, which is always the last thing you want to hear."

Yeah, RDJ does say "score," but what do famous actors know of the difference? That is unless Martin is going to write instrumental music for the film? But a real score for a tentpole film? Considering he's never written a score before, it seems highly unlikely. Either way, Martin, Coldplay or whoever's doing the music, has almost nine months to work on it.

The article was from April 7 2009 hopefully in that time they managed to make something

Oh wowee! Hope it's true!!!!!

Im looking forward to it as well no matter what. I work in a cinema chain so all we get is big blockbusters. Usually we the film reels arrive for us a few days earlier so they can set everything up and splice together the trailers. I know for the Dark Knight in Imax it took a few days to set up because of how big it was. Smaller films however like indiana jones was sealed and no one could open it because people were going to random theaters and verifying that the seal was not broken.

that'd be the only reason I would see the movie if it is true

yeah i know jony and chris are fans of sherlok cause in the iheart radio jonny mentions that he hearts sherlok holmes so i hope so

Yes, can't remember which movie it was but for one big one a courier arrived with the movie and had to wait until the time of the first performance to make sure nobody does anything with it...

Anyways, we're getting off topic

If there won't be a CP song for the movie... this would be something to ask the Oracle after Christmas then - if they wanted to contribute a song / what was the reason for the whiteboard writing etc! :idea2:

im one step ahead of you because I already did ask the oracle :P :)

 yaaay, more conspiracy theories :laugh3:

It could totally be about Sherlock Holmes :nice:

I would really like that the books are awesome...short stories rather. hurry up Christmas day!!

awesome!! i wanna see that movie right now for the song... it would be great...

I don't think she'd answer your question... and if she'll reply she'll just advise you to look out for announcements from Anchorman as he is responsible for things like that.

My bet would be on a reply after the release :)

I thought I was looking forward to this motion picture.

I was wrong.

NOW I AM DEFINITELY LOOKING FORWARD TO SHERLOCK HOLMES!

I certainly hope there's a connection, but something tells me we would have heard something about this earlier than now, something more than a random note in Chris's handwriting. Chris is a big Sherlock Holmes fan, as we all know, so maybe he was just experimenting with writing songs about him or that sort of story. I just can't get my hopes up, since it seems unlikely with less than a month to release of a huge blockbuster: we knew that "the Escapist" was going to be in the Escapist long before the film's release, and that was nothing compared to this film in the media.

Still: I would love this to be true!

idk are you sure that was the set hahaha
yes it was the set, the production manager told me what the place was all about. I doubt I'm on film though, they didn't have hi-vis and hard hats in the 19th century :laugh3:

Well maybe not this first movie, but there is a sequel in the works with RDJ and Jude Law reprising their roles and Brad Pitt is to play the character "Moriarty", so maybe Chris/Coldplay might contribute to this move. It is going to be a really good movie tho.

Oh and the house they filmed in is the same house that was used for C. Blacks home in one of the Harry Potter films.

hope this rumor turns out to be true! another reason to go see it in addition to the lovely RDJ. :wacky:

there's a guy on my course who looks like a deadringer for Jude Law...now i can't look at the Sherlock Holmes poster w/o thinking if that guy in my course might just be Jude Law's secret twin. :P

AWESOME. Just another reason to look forward to my school's prerelease screening of Sherlock Holmes next Monday...this totally makes my day!
