December 12, 200916 yr Proposed legislation would impose the death penalty for some gay Ugandans, and their family and friends could face up to seven years in jail if they fail to report them to authorities. Even landlords could be imprisoned for renting to homosexuals. Gay rights activists say the bill, which has prompted growing international opposition, promotes hatred and could set back efforts to combat HIV/AIDS. The Ugandan legislation in its current form would mandate a death sentence for active homosexuals living with HIV or in cases of same-sex rape. "Serial offenders" also could face capital punishment, but the legislation does not define the term. Anyone convicted of a homosexual act faces life imprisonment. David Bahati, the legislator sponsoring the bill, said he was encouraging "constructive criticism" to improve the law, but insisted strict measures were necessary to stop homosexuals from "recruiting" schoolchildren. http://www.buffalonews.com/nationalworld/international/story/887264.html  saw this in the paper and thought it was interesting
December 12, 200916 yr Author I know :shame: It was an interesting topic for my family though, seeing as my parents and religion are strictly against homosexuality :\
December 12, 200916 yr This is why I hate people. And parents. And religion. Why can't people stop descrimination? It's like, in their DNA or something. They just have to be asses all the time. It's not 1886 anymore, people. EVOLVE.
December 12, 200916 yr wow... thats terrible. this story sounds familular, like with jailing and killing people that were different, that started took place in the 30's and 40's that occurred during a huge war.... hmm, can't seem to put my finger on it  funny how even after all this time some places still haven't progressed against discrimination
December 14, 200916 yr And when you start to think that the world may be going in a positive direction, you read something like this, and realise how backwards and fucked parts of the world can be.
December 15, 200916 yr It's always something. They Just have to make a reason to kill, fight or argue.
December 15, 200916 yr This is really sad. If this bill gets approved, I would like to know how this is not a hate crime?
December 15, 200916 yr Burn in hell. who? Those killers. Yeah! Let's blindly hate a group of people who blindly hate a group of people! :cheesy:
December 15, 200916 yr Well, people with mental illnesses used to be stoned to death to avoid spoiling the gene pool, now everyone is bleating on about how the rate of those illnesses whatever are rising. It's one way to deal with one part of HIV/AIDS and easier than trying to control the disease by coming up with vaccines and the sort, whether it is a humane one of course pretty much nobody will agree with.
December 15, 200916 yr I know :shame: It was an interesting topic for my family though, seeing as my parents and religion are strictly against homosexuality :\ I know your parents are against homosexuality but how do you justify death? Killing someone, or rape for the matter, has got to be worse in anyones books rather than being homosexual because you can't help it.
