Any Regrets for 2009, Coldplay?

I'd say performing that bloody song at the Brit Awards, when it should have been something different like Lovers In Japan or Strawberry Swing! It would have been a great point for their awards ceremony since they didn't win any!

(alright - it was ONLY the Brit Awards - you know those fake awards which judges decide well before the ceremony who is going to be the NEW SHINING STAR OF MUSIC, by deliberately choosing those individuals as award winners numerous times, over other better stars REGARDLESS of proper talent just so that they can pull in those extra headlines for the morning newspapers. But like our good buddy Noel Gallagher at the start of this video - we all know it's a load of SHITE. I'm not bitter, I AM NOT BITTER!)

Oh sorry I went off on a tangent there.

p.s fellow Coldplay fans I don't hate Viva La Vida - I just think there is at least 7 songs on the album better than it! ;)

pps - I hope Coldplay don't get nominated for a bloody pointless Brit Award ever again so they don't have to drag their arses through to such S**** ever AGAIN!

I am not bitter.

I wouldn't have thought so, no. I would've thought that 2009 only rivalled 2008 in being Coldplay's world-conquering stage in their career that they've always craved. All bands make slight slip-ups, but as far as I can see 2009 has been an unqualified triumph for the boys.

They have both been the 2 most important years for the band, yes.

Yep, I'd agree with that. This was the year where Coldplay officially became a 'Stadium band' by playing in such great stadiums like Wembley, Hampden etc. And with the encouraging and exciting news of the next album - the only way is up for the band.

Cancelling the July 27 concert at Jones Beach :(

"Postponing" August 9 Tampa show. Not following up with their thousands of fans who got an email from livenation a month later cancelling the show. We still feel cheated and left out. Yes, Illness happens but they could have handled it better with their fans, especially since it was the last US show of the Viva tour and many fans had traveled from all over the country (and the world for a few).

Yeah cause they didn't visit 100 other countries in the world.

And cause some of us only managed to see them like 10 times.

And because we haven't managed to have Chris and Gwyneth separated.

Those are the biggest regret ever, yeah.

the only thing they probably themselves don't know is just how succesful some of the unreleased songs could be - you know I'm talking about that song Famous Old Painters! If that had been released with LeftRightLeftRightLeft song(one of the alleged eight versions) as b-sides to Strawberry Swing, I think there would have been little difference, but if it made it on the Viva album, hmm...

They couldn't have performed another song. VLV was the song they were nominated for. It would have confused the public.

I know they were nominated but in 2006 they were up for Speed of Sound and what did they perform? Not Speed of Cound but Square One.

Famous Old Painters is on the shortlist for the next album so they wouldn't realease it as a b-side before giving up on it 100%.

i think releasing strawberry swing that late,

after giving it away on LFLFL for free,

and after the prospekts march ep

wasn't the best idea.

it could have been a bigger single.

I don't see what the F's in LFLFL stand for :P and they should have had at least one b-side even if it had been GPASUYF/Talk live dance version or the Strawberry Swing remix.

Well I think they realise that every song they release would be succesfull but they just won't release anything they think isn't ready yet or isn't good enough. They don't care about more succes I think^^
