wow, curious change in the top 5/6. Nice to see politik beat out VLV, which has clearly lost popularity.

Agreed. As stated if you only came to forum just to vote you likely aren't really contributing a lot by giving your list and then just leaving.

Well here we go......

Top 3 were very close to each other so a neck and neck finish.

Lovely top 4. I loved the results of this poll, thank you very much Chris's Nuts.

Howz about for whenever the next poll comes along, make the requirement that you have to be a member of coldplaying.com since at least the month before the poll is announced. That way, it doesn't matter how many previous posts someone has, but you're pretty much guaranteed to not have people who came here for the sole reason of posting their votes. For example, if you announce in December of 20xx that you will have a top 50 poll, make the requirement that anyone who votes has to be a member of coldplaying.com on or before November 20xx.

Just an idea.

No, this is a bad idea, because then you get accounts with 0 posts made before that date giving their lists. Look in the thread where you have to give your lists, there's several of these. It doesn't fix the problem of people just coming here to give their lists and it wouldn't help shape a 'veteran's list' any better than the current system does.

Plus 500 posts isn't THAT hard to make if you try hard enough.

Not challenging the authenticity or accuracy of this list, but it would be cool to see the list broken down by posts, gender etc.

This :nice: but it might be a bit of work.

Also I'm mildly happy with the list. It does have quite a few flaws tho.

No, see that's the point... as long as they've had the account prior to him even making the announcement, that's what matters. The problem, as you and many of us here have mentioned, is that there were people that only came here to post lists. If people are already members on this site BEFORE the request for lists is even announced, then they were here for other reasons prior to the poll, regardless of how many posts they've had. Sure, it's not hard to get 500 posts if you go to the post whore section and count up to 1000 in less than an hour, so who's to say someone won't do that just to meet the criteria? The point is, people who find out the poll as members here, as opposed to finding out about the poll elsewhere, should be the ones to vote. And you (typically) find out about the poll here if you're already a member here before the announcement, yadda yadda...

which is the real list? im confused

can someone post the full list?

Go to the second link in post 127 above, the list is posted using all of the info, and each one has a notation of how that song ranked in the "veterans" list.

There were approx. 77 lists all from accounts that have very few posts (15 or less) and registered during or before Dec 09.

There were approx. 20 lists from users that registered in January 2010. (Geez, I hate counting stuff)

Note I also counted lists that wouldn't have qualified in the final countings.

Therefore, the "problem" itself is NOT that people are registering just to make lists, but coming back simply to post them and then going away again. The 77 people that registered before Jan 2010 with less than 15 posts likely only came back because they were PM'd and notified of PM by email. And I doubt many really think the lists of people with 15 posts or less is fit for a veteran's list.

Also no 1.36... disappointing.

For You > 1.36, but still don't really like either...if it were on my playlist on shuffle, id skip it

I like them  They're good b-sides. They're skippable because they're, well, b-sides.

I agree with what you're saying except for one little adjustment... Nuts announced the poll in December, so the little 'membership' rule I proposed would mean someone would need to be a member during or before NOVEMBER, not December. So, if you take out the December 2009 people from the 77 people you noted above, then I agree with you that "net" list would be the "problem" people potentially skewing the results (in addition to the December 2009 and January 2010 people, of course). Basically, the half-arse fans.

Hmm. Ok, so it would be about equal then, maybe a bit more for people joining in December. That could work, it would take out about half of the total sum of 97. We could also add a small post count limit to fix up the other half so people who didn't qualify for vet's list this year don't complain next time.

(I just had a thought, this is all for vet's list, not general top list, yes? My brain no work today.)

And I don't like the ranking, cause it full of "greatest hits" ( but I can take it) and it's not apparently VLV fans blame

Oh wow, one song from that album dropped down. :dozey:

Also, I am not abusing VLV fans, "you suck people" was directed at anyone who has not educated themselves with the Parachutes b-sides + early songs. There are gems! There is no excuse, even I listened to them all and I have the worst internet connection on the forum.

How a song is played live, or whether or not its on the setlist hugely impacts these lists. Nobody gave a damn about The Hardest Part until they fell in love with the acoustic version, and it flies up about 20 spots. Similar with Lovers In Japan and the butterfly hysteria.

On a distantly related note, Shiver desperately needs to get back into the setlist, it's a single, a fan-fave and it hasn't been a solid part of the set for almost 7 years.
