iPod Touch or Classic... which is better?

Featured Replies

Okay, so after years of living in the Dark Ages, I have finally decided to purchase an mp3 player. I plan to purchase it in the next few weeks, and I am currently debating between the iPod Touch and the iPod Classic. I have accumulated numerous gift cards during the past few months, which will more than cover the cost, so let us pretend that price is not a factor in my decision.

Which model would you recommend, and why?

EDIT: I intend to use it primarily for music; I figure if I want to browse the internet, I'll just use my PC.

If you see yourself using apps and using wireless internet, then you should get an ipod touch.

Ipod classics generally have a lot more space are better if you need more room for music.

None of them is better than the other.

This is up to you, its your needs and if you want to get advice you should at least be a little more specific...

If music is your main use of it, then buy Classic.

I am trying to decide between these models as well! I have an 2nd gen nano right now, but I'm totally out of space, and it's old and beaten up from using it so much.

So I want a new one, and I'm leaning towards the classic only because I don't really need all the apps. I mean, they're really cool but after a while they would probably lose their appeal. Also, the classics are less expensive and give you tons of space!

Zunes are better. :P

But seriously. If the main use is music, go Classic.

Yeah, my hubby has a Zune. But frankly I think he spent more on some crazy earphones for it. *gag*

I've heard great things about Zunes. I wish I had one myself. Right now, I have a 16 GB Sony, and it's filled to the brim with stuff. I need more space. :(

I don't have enough room on my ipod anyore either, but I want a nano, not a classic.

I used to have one of those.

I think I still have one in a box in my basement. So sad.

Definitely the touch. I'm getting one for graduation later this year. My older brother has one and it's much better than my 4th generation nano.

I've never owned an iPod. I wonder what that's like.

I have a 160GB Classic and I think that if you really need for music, then classic..atleast here in Finland you get twice as much space with the same money if you take a Classic, the touch one is more expensive in that way :nice: (but then again that's only here, I have no idea of other places and mine is from USA too, which was 100 euros cheaper than getting it from here..)

I really want one of THOSE ^, but they seem to cost a pretty penny.

I got my first one in november, not that special :P

Hmm, maybe I won't bother this lifetime.

IPods are a waste of money for something that breaks if you look at it funny.

Classic!!

Orly? My nano has endured many falls :P It's still in one piece, though!

Touch because they're prettier.

Then again if you actually have lots of music get the Classic.

Oh, and the classic has video too. So then with all that space you don't have to worry about running out of room for music AND vids.

My ipod has survived being shot off the back many treadmills after it falls while running.

Mine's survived a fair bit of damage but that's only because it's a old plastic brick of an iPod Classic. 60GB and slooeeee. But yes I can actually watch movies on it woo (not for long cuz of battery but still)

Anyway, I suggest Classic.

Classic is better, you can only have internet access on the Touch if you're in a Wi-Fi location. If you don't have internet access on the Touch it's practically useless for the goodies.
