Even if I disagree I understand your point, sometimes I really wish Coldplay could go back to the parachutes era. Not because they weren't that famous, just because I love the simplicity of the songs :heart:

 

Yes sometimes I wish they would just go back to basics, I dont think they need to contrive new directions, although sometimes it can be good. Ill lay my cards on the table, Im not a fan of Brian Eno, I feel like he's changing coldplay for the worse and convincing them their old music is bad. (thats probably way off from the reality but its how things come across to me).

Bands need attention to an extent so that people buy their music. If nobody buys their music, they can't make anymore. So I can see where every once and a while Coldplay need to get their name out into the world again, to attract new fans and remind people they're still there, especially now that they're not touring.

 

I think of camp rock as on par with glee? yeh i think its a good idea to keep themselves known and not do a radiohead and disappear into obsurity but soon they will have a new album out. I really think its a bad career move.

I love Strawberry Swing and Life in Technicolor but that's it, I think it's good to try to find new directions but I miss the good old coldplay :P Being stuck in the old style wouldn't be good anyway, people would get bored of them, I don't think they will go back, they are a big band now.

I'm friends with quite a few of the Glee cast members, and Heather Morris, who plays Brittany the cheerleader, told me that Chris Martin will be on Glee this season, as will Darren Criss, star of A Very Potter Musical.

to me, i don't think that them letting Glee use one of their songs is any different from letting movies or tv shows play their songs, which has been happening for ever now. :shrug:

and if any of them were to actually appear on the show, i think they would just take it as something fun to do. :P

AROBTTH is my fav because the songs are so deep and emotional, something i feel VLV is lacking. I think that was a deliberate attempt to rid the band of its soppy label and i recall Chris saying in an interview he wanted to make coldplay cool. I agree also that coldplay need to change with each album but i still think they should remain faithful to their emotional songwriting skills.

that's a good point.

i guess maybe here in the US it's generally seen as a sort of ridiculous thing... but i feel that it's definitely on a higher level than Camp Rock :P

this is also a good point! i think that with VLV they also tried to focus more on the instruments than vocals, which could probably have affected that. unless you mean songwriting as more than just the lyrical side of it. :P

Yeh I think Chris's vocals are less emotional, give or take the odd song. He focuses more on singing loudly, such as the chorus of Lovers in Japan, he really shouts the lyrics. Also there are alot of sing along parts like the wooo ooo woooos in viva and LIT2. So to me it just feels like this huge shift away from emotional songs and i miss songs like amsterdam etc.

IMO Muse sold out big time with twilight and i lost respect for them. Now Im worried lots of people will do the same for coldplay and the kids that watch glee wont give two shits about coldplay anyway so whats the point!!

Yeah thats a good point. People seem to be overreacting a lot to some fairly unconfirmed news. But hey, since I'm here I'll say what I think; despite absolutely hating Glee and it's entire concept...I'd still watch a whole episode just to see Chris. :P

I just don't see him doing this...or more to the point why he would... I don't hate Glee and am glad CP eventually said yes to having their songs used...I just wish they'd concentrate on making the album rather than flitting off every five minutes to do Apple gigs, Jay Z gigs, NYE shows and now to film TV shows?

I for one wouldn't trust this info, even coming from an actor of the show. Actors are not the ones making the decisions and they are usually being kept from all the informations (future scripts and cast, etc.).

I would wait to have the producers confirming it!
