Make up your mind! Which was it? Awesome, or crepe?

I always forget my name has to do with Coldplay.

I didn't even know it was one.

I thought there were a family of Berryman's on here for a while, and was confused about the number 42 being absolutely fucking everywhere. I'm sure there are plenty of things I haven't noticed yet that are Coldplay related.

If they weren't shit I'd know.

Didn't you know?, anyone who doesn't think Coldplay are the greatest thing ever and wants to marry Chris and have his babies is automatically evil and kills kittens.

Ok I am a coldplay fan and i like the band a lot but any fan that actually thinks the above is really really sad

Yeah what the hell is with 42.

There was a bit of over the top sarcasm in my post:P.

Wait, weren't you guys ever Coldplay fans? Or did you join even though you weren't fans?

:inquisitive:

I liked them before I liked good music back first and second album and don't listen anymore to anything they did, but I joined here after being on a few proper bands message boards and growing tired of them. I figured Coldplay fans would be good people, even if their taste in music was flawed.

I'm a huge Coldplay fan... They are one of my favourite bands. But I don't fan-girl them to death (I don't want to have children with any of them and I don't care if other people dislike them... I just appreciate the music and love seeing them live).

I don't think you could ever say that certain people weren't allowed on the boards. I think it's open to all: people who love Coldplay, people who like Coldplay and people that hate Coldplay... We've just got to accept that there are all sorts of opinions and respect the people that have them.

Plus, I think this board would be highly boring if it was all like 'COLDPLAYERS4LYFUNITED' with no diversity.

I feel the same

my sentiments exactly :D

That is how I feel too. What I don't like is when people start disrespecting each other. If you love the band, if you like the band or even if you hate it you should be able to express your opinion without being mocked or attacked. Especially if you do it in a respectful way.

Most people come here just to have fun and talk with friends (Coldplay related or not), we all should be able to do that without tearing our hairs out because we disagree on something.

If you love the band, if you like the band or even if you hate it you should be able to express your opinion without being mocked or attacked. Especially if you do it in a respectful way.

Exactly. That's what I've been saying all along, and which is why fangirls shouldn't be mocked however biased they might seem in favour of Coldplay.:smug:

I would replace 'especially' with 'only' there. There's plenty of fangirls (Take Destrokk for example) who simply go about their business, but there's a lot of fangirls who are pure trolls (And even if they don't mean to be, it's like natural). They react to criticism about the band with dismissal, and this arrogant attitude, so they get a mocked/hostile reaction, react with more arrogance and acting even more patronising, they get an abusive react, then they turn into a victim and every post is something along the lines of "Stop judging me as a person because I have opinions" and that can carry on for fucking ages.

But if they act in a respectful way then they will get respect back, if they act in any way rude it is likely they'll get a very bad reaction, mainly because the stereotypical Coldplay forum fangirl can be incredibly irritating.

Of course they should, nobody should be ignorant and being utterly biased to the point where you are just unreasonably dismissing other people's opinions yet unable to give opinions of your own (Wasting everyones time who've gone to the effort of expressing well-informed opinions) and that's always going to get mocked. Nobody deserves respect for being biased to the point where everything you write could easily be written by some other fangirl, just go back to some Chrissy thread and return to the normality of everyone agreeing with you 100% because that's the only way they can function. Fangirls have an awful, awful time dealing or accepting negative opinions.

exactly

all of this started because a fangirl called other people "picky" and stuff because they didn't agree with her and because trolls of course joined to defend her like she was a poor little victim (which is very patronising too).

In your opinion. They might well regard you in the same way.:dozey:

Who says? Their opinions are just as valid as everyone else's, whether you like them or not. If you resent being surrounded by Coldplay fangirls so much, you should seriously consider whether it's really worth sticking around, as they're here to stay.:dozey:

Y'see the way my name is just to the left of my post? That indicates that those words are indeed my opinion, nobody needs you to waste our time by pointing that out.

Clearly I am saying it, again just a reminder: Look to your left of whatever post you are reading and it will display the name of the person posting their opinion just so they don't have to keep saying "...and that's my opinion" at the end of every sentence.

It's not whether I agree with the opinion, if someone has reasons for liking Coldplay or disagreeing with others then fine if they have reasons then they should express them. But in this case a girl coming in and dismissing everyones opinions on the basis that they are being 'picky' was purely to cause a reaction, she never backed up that opinion and she was never there to participate in a progressive debate. All she wanted to do was disturb everything because she couldn't accept that people don't like her band, and she needed something, anything, to say in defence of them, so she just wrote they are 'picky'.

Thanks for clarifying that, but it just seemed (from the way it was written) that you were stating it as a fact. If that wasn't the case, then fair enough.

Fair enough, but what she said wasn't exactly abusive, was it?:dozey:

There are fan girls on here that are pretty tiring. I mean I joined this site to talk largely and fairly about one of my favourite bands but its so hard to get a really in depth conversation thread on the main forum as it's all taken up by 'Sexy pics' of the band members and such. I mean the 'Gwyneth' page gets more bumps than the actual music which I despair at. How depressing. Yes I know she's married to CM but come on! What sort of Coldplay fan would rather talk about the star wife of the frontman than the actual music they produce? I do despair! There is no substance on the Coldplay discussion page.

^ See, stuff like that is why I rarely post in the Coldplay section of the forum. A lot of the time, it's not about the music at all.

OK, enough about that. Here's my opinion on the topic.

I joined this forum back when I was hardcore into Coldplay and I listened to them everyday. Today, Coldplay is just one of many bands that I listen to. For me, Coldplaying is more about discovering new music in the WoM and having great discussions with the many friends I have met here. To be honest, talking with my friends here is the most important thing I do here. I love them all to death and wouldn't trade them for anything. I'm not as hardcore of a fan as I used to be, but that's not because I don't like Coldplay. I still like them a lot, and "Swallowed in the Sea" will always be my favorite Coldplay song. I just have discovered so much music that I'm getting into now that I also really like.

With all that being said, I think anyone and everyone should feel welcome here, from the fangirls to the haters. Like someone said earlier (I believe it was Nattatouille. I think I spelled that wrong, so I apologize.), if we all had the exact same opinion about Coldplay, this place would be extremely boring.
