NME: Albums of 2011 (WOM)

Featured Replies

The current issue of NME has a large feature on many of the major album releases expected to be released this year. Radiohead, The Strokes, Kasabian… NME usually takes a week or two to hit the States so I was hoping that our UK board members could share some of the details shared in this issue. I have created a thread about this in the main Coldplay forum but as opposed to posting in each individual band's thread I figured it would be easier to just start a new thread in World of Music. So… what did we learn?

I picked up NME today for the 2011 list.

I can share some tidbits, dunno what everyone will be interested in tho, there's a lot of the stuff in there that I'm just not arsed about..La Roux for example, or The Vaccines *yawn*

I just typed some of the Elbow feature, which was very complimentary in the Elbow thread. Kasabian get a nice little spread & some nice pics of Sergio, who says he's aiming to create something as incredible as OK Computer, not necessarily in terms of the sound tho. The Beady Eye effort is described as "essentially an Oasis album in all but name, and Noel" and the article is full of the band telling us how fuckin' great it is, man.

I'm sure the Coldplay piece has been picked apart and every letter quoted up top where all the maniacs live, so not much point me summarising that too much. It's nice to see them at #5 tho and it makes interesting reading for the songwriting and the Eno/Dravs contribution.

:)

Did I see the GaGa in at number 8?

List void of any value it had :P

Noah and the Whale in March? :cheesy:

It'd be highly convenient if it came out the week of my birthday. :awesome:

Yeah, I was wondering what the numbers were for. I wouldn't think they really meant anything, but you never know...

There's no way Damon Albarn's album could be that exciting as to be number 4 :P

Ouch.

Nah, I wouldn't know. I don't know that much about Damon Albarn outside Gorillaz.

I don't know. Albarn is so diverse and talented that anything he does is interesting. The guy takes a stab at almost anything.

Would it be weird of me to say that I like Gorillaz, but I'm not such a big fan of Blur?

I agree with this statement.

I like Gorillaz too but the only Blur albums I like are 13 and Think Tank.

Nope, Blur and Gorillaz sound different so it's not weird.

would love to see all those acts back up their great 2010 releases with more great music in 2011.

I like Blur more than Gorillaz. Blur is pretty good, but not great. Gorillaz is horrendous to my ears.

...Oh.

:disappointed:

Kaiser Chiefs in 2011? :cheesy:

:awesome:

INORITE? :awesome: It's about time they had a new release.
