I still haven't gotten a response from your mixtape maker and am I'm unsure when the last time they were online.

If it turns out that you don't get your mix by perhaps Sunday I'll ask for a backup tape (I think I already might have someone to make one)

Hi mixtape maker... Sorry this took a whille :/

1.Different voice,deeply. I like the drums,beats slowly.A nice opening song :)

2.nice beginning and I'm waiting the voice..oo another deep voice.I like guitar ryhtims. This song sounds so gloomyyy. But it is getting faster now yeaa like it! I want to run now haha :D what are they doing at outro??

3.I love the voice it is gloomy again but not boring. It makes you scream to the world with all your force :)

4.a long long intro..like a romantic movie song. I can imagine, a couple break up and director is showing their life after breaking up..they're so sad and girl is crying :(

5.nice vocal, and again it's slow but not boring. Is that person from England? this song sounds like English music, but not sure.

6.rhythmic beginning, and it carries on back. Is that Radiohead?? no no it is not. but his voice very looks like Thom, I think.

Again this song is slow :) you really love slow and drum beating songs in my opinion :D those drums are cleaning my mind right now and vocals voice..I like the part between 2.29-2.53

7.there is a different sound :S what is this?? I can not understand what instrunment is this :D

there is no lyrics just weird insturments. ooo I understand know,I can imagine it but I don't know its name oopps.

Hi mixtape maker. I'm sorry for my lateness. Well I'm not really sorry since you were late. YOU should be sorry :dozey: (just kidding) (no I'm not)

now off to the real review

I intentionally delayed the review because I want to listen to it several more times, to let me love or hate or feel totally indifferent about the songs.

01 (japan is great)

The file name drew me a vision on this song's whatness. I imagine this would be the grand opening song to a full length feature film anime. There would be a feisty albeit somewhat clumsy not-so-little girl blessed with naivety, curiosity and fighting spirit, who discoevered a new place which peaked her interest. Probably an old and well kept castle where she would train to be the best servant ever. Or whatever. I didn't love the song. But nevertheless a cute way to open a mixtape. I would prefer a darkish composition if you know what I mean.

02 (you had better like this one, or I'll be mad)

I think you can't help but to be mad. I'm not really a fan of this one. I couldn't really put my finger on this one. I think there's absolutely no prominent strings of melodies worthy to be featured or lead the whole instrumental piece. That is, alas and woe, the consequence of how modern music progresses. It sounds mewlike though :D

03 (it's okay if you don't like this one)

What language is this? French? I'm not saying that this song is bad, it's only that I don't know the ingredients that makes a rap music special. I don't know what to say. I mean I COULD search the artist by extracting the information from the residue from the file (which is the album artwork). But I can tell you my vision. I imagine there are a group of guys, maybe 2 or 3. They are not "pure" musicians. Probably actors who wanted to break in or, more likely, to have some fun by having a new endeavour. The video for this one would feature the guys which are so cute it's stupid acting so stupid it's cute. If they're not cute, please don't tell me who the artist is. Please. Please. Pretty please.

04 (but not okay if you don't like this one)

I'm not going to dislike it. I LOVE IT. I already knew it was Janelle Monae from the album artwork. And I know it's Tightrope from listening. Man, this girl knows how to deliver. I mean I don't like funk, but this girl just soooo irresistible I can't help but carry on listening. She got soul, and it shows. And she gote some sexy killer style. I'm gonna marry her.

05 (this one won't let me put mixtape for like all the data, so I'm not just a lazy bum, except for how it took me so long to make this.)

Deerhunter - Flourescet Grey. The repetitious chrd progression reminds me of The Ting Tings. I know it's a long, long, long shot. But you have to admit that the one could remind you of the other one. I kinda like it. Especially when it reached the swishy-as-the-slurpy section. No, actually I love that part so much. That drumline, so prominently-not-prominently simplistic, is perfectly perfect. I know I repeatedly repeat my words. But I don't care to care.

06 (or this one. I'm basically a terrible person)

Again I don't know what to say here. The whole sound reminds me of a band which 1 song that I have I love so much. The band called BOBBY, the song called Sore Spores. But it's not them. (are songs sovunoriginal now?) I fell in love on the first tingle of audio stimuli. The intro is like a slow orgasm. But then WTF man?? It's like you just came and then you immediately went fucking in full speed again, not reaching to anymore orgasm. I use fucking as an analogy because this song actually is fucking good. It's just that the sequence is so fucking wrong.

07 (DEE DEE DEE)

This is yet another instrumental piece. Which I thought a repeat of the unimpressive Track 2. But then the whole aura is different. It's so... jolly. So not Mew-like. This one is like what Sufjan Stevens will be if you kill his angst, darkness and compulsion. All jolliness and instruments mash-up, Mixd in a blender with banana and grapes. Yes, this one can put in all the distortion and noises he/she/they/it can get but the song is still cute.

08 (dee dee dee)

Wild guess: Metric? "New York in the center of the 1st world layed out before us, who are we to break down?". I don't know, I only heard metric once, from that Scott Pilgrim sound track, the vocalist has that Sheryl Crow-esque quality to her voice. Anyhoo. This song is highly piano driven pop song, despite there are some parts of which the piano were not played. I kinda feel indifferent with this one, but this is obviously the kind that will strike me from the back out of nowhere at an unxpected time and make me hum it.

09 (japan is REALLY great)

Definitely the low point of the mixtape for me. Do you know that the third to last song of an album or a mixtape, excluding bonus track, is the most important part of an album or a mixtape. It's because the penultimate song is definitely WILL be a good song. The last song can be bad because usually musicians choose their favourite song to close an album and leave a great impression to the listener, however they tend to pick a polarizing song as their favourite; but it still wouldn't change the listener's opinion of the whole thing. But the third to last song is where people tend to slip. If the third to last song is OK then the whole ending will be forgetable, if it's good then the ending will be the awesomest of awesome, but if it's bad then the whole ending is a disaster. Of course I just made the whole thing up, even though it sounds arguably logical. I just disliked the song and I wanted to tickle your ego for a bit :P

10 (so I'm sorry this took me so long to make and how I basically just threw everything together but I'm really sorry okay. sadddd)

Arcade Fire? No??????? The whole chord progression and time signature screams Rococo. Both of them definitely walks the same road. I love this song. So much :dazzled: I don't want to say anyting more but I LOVE IT.

11 (goodbye, fair mixtape partner. also, I'm sorry I couldn't delete like any of the album artwork. and that it was so late. please forgive me.)

My first impression is "is this in English?" I'm still not sure. I can decipher English words, but most parts are just gibberish to me. But the song is great though. I love the acoustic feel. Even the whistling didn't make it corny. What made it corny is that female backing vocal voice. I think the only way to make it not corny with a female backing vocal is by having Emilia Torrini singing for him. Yes, that's the only way. Nonetheless, it's a lovely, lovely, lovely song.

I like the mixtape. The flow is kinda wonky, the songs are great. My favourites are 4, 5, and 10. It ended like a disaster though, since you made a miss at the third from last song. See, I'm still sticking to my make believe theory :laugh3:. Relax, I'm just kidding (no I'm not)

"Both of You, Dance Like You Want To Win!" (I fucking love Japanese song titles <3). Composed by 鷺巣 詩郎 (Shiro Sagisu if you prefer to Westernize). Indeed it's from an anime, from my very very favoritest anime ever, Neon Geneses Evangelion (it's pure art and gorgeousness, you really truly must watch it. Fact. The soundtrack is gorgeous, the animation is gorgeous, and it's super deep and thought-provoking and just great.

Bah! Shame on you. "Fire Flies and Empty Skies" by God Is an Astronaut, which is an absolutely amazing post-rock band that comes up with the best fucking instrumentals ever. But if it's not to your taste, I wouldn't recommend looking up more by them, because all their stuff is pretty much in this style.

Hahaha! It is French, but it's Acadian French, which is almost a whole different animal from regular, standardized French. The song is "Enfant Spécial," the band is... well, here's a picture first. Be forewarned, imo only the guy on the right is cute.

RadioRadio_RichmondLamb_480px.jpg

While the other two are far from my perfect guy, I'd say the cuteness of the one on the right is enough to tell you the band name: Radio Radio. They're pretty indie and shit, and Canadian, so I imagine Briggins is smiling proudly on me right now. (Actually, the pic's from his blog. Haha)

Fuck yeah bro. Janelle Monae is amazing. Just, augh. Good to know you like her!

I know I repeatedly repeat my words. But I don't care to care.

The Ting Tings??? Da fuck are you smoking?? Hahaha. This file was protected or something... I tried for quite a while to get it to change and then just decided to get my mixtape in on something resembling time. I dunno if you already listen to Deerhunter or not, but listen to the rest of the Flourescent Grey EP (plus their whole discography sans their first album, which is terrible) -- it shan't dissapoint.

06 (or this one. I'm basically a terrible person)

Again I don't know what to say here. The whole sound reminds me of a band which 1 song that I have I love so much. The band called BOBBY, the song called Sore Spores. But it's not them. It's like you just came and then you immediately went fucking in full speed again, not reaching to anymore orgasm. I use fucking as an analogy because this song actually is fucking good. It's just that the sequence is so fucking wrong.

Hahaha, this is almost cheating by reusing artists, because Atlas Sound is the solo project of Bradford Cox, the lead vocals/guitar for Deerhunter. It's off the album Logos, which is fucking brilliant. I heavily heavily heavily recommend the song "Walkabout" because it's fucking great and it also has Panda Bear guesting so how can you go wrong?? I almost put it on the tape but then I remembered I think I'd put it on another, so I was all like, "wups, better not do that." I'm sorry about the weird structure but Bradford Cox/Deerhunter are just SO EXPERIMENTAL AND INNOVATIVE, YO, nuthin' I can do about it.

07 (DEE DEE DEE)

This is yet another instrumental piece. Which I thought a repeat of the unimpressive Track 2. But then the whole aura is different. It's so... jolly. So not Mew-like. Yes, this one can put in all the distortion and noises he/she/they/it can get but the song is still cute.

This song isn't just cute, it's fucking adorkable! I love it really lots. I always found it really uplifting. "Lovely Allen" by Holy Fuck. Gooood band. Eddie was obsessed with them for quite a while before he converted to Four Tet/MF Doom/Daft Punk/etc.

Anyhoo. I kinda feel indifferent with this one, but this is obviously the kind that will strike me from the back out of nowhere at an unxpected time and make me hum it.

Not a bad guess! But not correct, either. "You, Me, & The Bourgeoisie" by a duo called The Submarines. It's off the album Honeysuckle Weeks, which is a super cute and fun album. I'd recommend it if you're in the mood for a bunch of nice indie pop, but I bet it gets old quickly -- I've been trying not to overlisten it so that it doesn't.

09 (japan is REALLY great)

Definitely the low point of the mixtape for me. Do you know that the third to last song of an album or a mixtape, excluding bonus track, is the most important part of an album or a mixtape. Too bad! This was sorta risky, but I just really love this song too much to not put it in. But yeah, kinda a weird decision to put in electro-J-pop, generally speaking. :P The band is 元気ロケッツ (Genki Rockets if you like to anglicize and/or know how the fuck to pronounce anything), and the song is called "Star Line," but it was remixed by some fucker or other called Stratos. (So if you wanna keep it and know how to categorize it, the official title is "Star Line (Stratos Mix)".)Saw it in a trailer for an upcoming video game called "Children of Eden" and fell in love with it. I think I get your not liking it though.

Hah, I actually see where you're coming from! This song is fan-fucking-tastic, isn't it? I love the chorus and shit. I'm so glad you like it. :D "Let it Rain" by OK Go, off the album Oh No, which if you like this/any of the rest of their work I heavily recommend getting. Most of the songs on that album are more upbeat than this, but still, it's a good album.

It is in English, but also in whistling! :D "Scythian Empires" by Andrew Bird (FANTASTIC) off the album Armchair Apocrypha (REALLY FUCKING FANTASTIC). Please do me a huge huge huge favor and get Armchair Apocrypha as well.

I just googled who the backing vocalist is on this track just for you. Her name is Haley Bonar, and I've never heard of her but she's pretty great in my book!

I like the mixtape.

AWWWW YEAAAAAHH

The flow is kinda wonky,

CUZ I MADE IT IN A NIGHT LIKE A MOTHERFUCKIN' CHAMP

the songs are great.

Damn right!

My favourites are 4, 5, and 10. It ended like a disaster though, since you made a miss at the third from last song. See, I'm still sticking to my make believe theory :laugh3:. Relax, I'm just kidding (no I'm not)

I'm really glad you enjoyed it bar Star Line. It always makes me feel great when a mixtape goes down well. :wacky: I really hope you check out the albums I mentioned cuz they're all really great omgg~~~

Do you like how I made everything bold and blue so it was easy to see?? I try so hard for you people.

Hi, I was your mixtape creator, and creator of the band Andrianjaka.

Here is my review!! I am so sorry about the lateness!:embarrassed: But I always give it quite a few listens to get the feel of it:)

Pt 1 - Photographing Raindrops

TRACK 101-nice little intro.

Glad you liked it, it's a good little intro, it is A Beginning

TRACK 102- Good song to start the mixtape with – mid-tempo with multiple harmonising male voices. I like this.:)

And here is the End Of The Beginning :)

TRACK 103- The voice sounds familiar – is it Doves? This song is really sad.

It is Doves, a remix of them.

TRACK 104- hmm, not sure about this. I’m not that big on female vocals and I find this a bit annoying. Especially the wailing bit at the end! I can’t understand what’s she’s saying – is it “come on daddy”??:laugh3:

Not a fan of Regina Spektor I see.

TRACK 105- I wasn’t sure at first about this at first– the vocals are quite different- but when it kicks in at around 1:25 I started to love it and it’s probably one of my faves on here. I have absolutely no idea who it, my sister says it sounds like Smashing Pumpkins (but I don’t really know what they sound like!) Gets better at every listen.

Glad you liked it :)

TRACK 106- This is U2. Don’t know the song, but Bono’s voice is really nice in this. 3rd listen – I think this is a slow burner – really love this! Just remembered I don’t own any U2 albums!:o

U2 is correct :)

TRACK 107- This song has me intrigued. I want to hear more of the vocals because I really like the singer’s voice but the music is really good as well.

It's by Wintersleep

TRACK 108- Not really sure what to think of this one. It kinda sounds like a song from a musical at the beginning, and the voice seems somewhat familiar but I don’t know who it is? I found this going round and round and round my head!

It's by an artist called Neil Lucas, not that well known, but he's a local boy.

TRACK 109- Radiohead-Separator! I love this song! One of the highlights from TKOL, I think. Just perfect.

And it's the end of part 1 with the separator.

Pt 2 - Photographing Cherry Blossoms

TRACK 201- a quiet one. I can imagine listening this to relax, it’s really beautiful.

A track by The Leisure Society from their new album

TRACK 202- slinky female vocal. Not really my kinda thing but I still prefer this than 104!

Sorry female vocals aint your kind of thing

TRACK 203- ooh piano intro! Sounds like it should be a soundtrack for a film. I love the vocals – male, maybe American? I really love this – simple but lovely.

It's an acoustic version by Dashboard Confessional, glad you liked it :)

TRACK 204- ooh promising intro, wicked bass , guitar etc. I feel like I’ve heard this before somewhere? Like the distortion on the voice, I think this may be a grower.

Helium by the Feeder.

TRACK 205- !!:D:D I think I squeed when I heard this! Keane-The Iron Sea! Ooh, and it’s Magic Shop Version! Yep I’m a Keane geek! Haven’t heard this in ages. Mixtape maker you must be a Keane fan? :D :D

I am.

TRACK 206 - This has a country vibe. This guy is singing with passion! I like the unpolished feel, it sounds like a live take.

It's the wonderful Avett Brothers

TRACK 207- This guy has a good voice! Has a classic feel to it and I like the lyrics.:)

Colin Hay (Of Men at Work & Scrubs), from his new album.

TRACK 208 – I love this – I’m a sucker when it comes to piano. Yep this definitely my kind of thing! It has a haunted feel to it..but what is it?

Thirteen Senses it be

TRACK 209 – perfect ending to this tape, an otherworldly instrumental..

Bit of Eno to end.

Well...I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this. I love the variety of stuff you chose and I can’t wait for the tracklisting because I want to check some more out! :D I hope my review was OK. :D

Glad you liked After You've 'made it' Pts 1 & 2 :)

I'll comment on your questions later since I have to leave in a minute

To my lovely mixmp3 maker, it's brilliant, I shall do a fuller review tomorrow :)

Wooo I see great bands in there. I like the people on here's taste in music.

OK so, here's my review!

That's mine! Sorry for taking to long to realize you had reviewed it!

1)I was a little put off with this at first; the beginning sounds a little like some generic R 'n' B stuff. But as it gets going, I realise I'm wrong. I'm enjoying it more on repeat listens, I quite like it! Fun, upbeat opener.

Run the Heart - Sleigh Bells -- Glad you liked it! Was hesitant about starting the mixtape with it cause like you said it does sound a bit RnB ish but it's really good stuff. The whole album 'Treats' has a similar sound if you wanna check that out!

2)Paul Banks! I could recognise his voice anywhere, very distinctive. I assume this is from his solo album? I don't remember that album too well, but it doesn't sound like Interpol..

Only If You Run - Julian Plenti -- Yup, you're right. His solo stuff. It's a great solo effort, imo. Better than the stuff Interpol's been putting out of late.

3)Summery vocals that remind me a lot of the Beach Boys but with a hazier, more shoegaze feel to it. Pretty catchy this, I quite like it!

Baseball Cards - Wavves -- Yeah definitely a summery track, been stuck in my head a lot of late.

4)Slightly darker that previous tracks, but still electronica. I like it when it gets to the 1:40 mark and what sounds like guitar feedback kicks in, definitely gives the track an edge. I could like this with a few more listens, perhaps.

The Sun - The Naked and Famous -- I just love this song because it slowly builds up to a peak at the end and just gets better as it goes on.

5)The XX! Can't remember the name of the song, but I know I liked it

Islands - The XX -- Yayy! I love them too. :) As you might've guess since I did include them in my mixtape. ;)

6)Dancy beat to this, with what sounds video game sounds. Hmm, not really a fan of the singer's voice, but the music is catchy.

Houdini - Foster The People -- I had the same initial thought! His voice was too.. high pitched? If that the right way to describe it? But it grew on me and now this album's one of my current favorites.

7)Hmmm the vocals sound familiar on this one, but I can't place it..This track overall is OK, nothing really grabs me on it, though, I'm afraid.

Black & Blue - Miike Snow -- I guess I can understand why you don't like this song. It's a bit poppy. I just like it cause its upbeat and sounds nice with headphones on! Sorry that you didn't like it.

8)This is a fun pop song, again quite catchy! The lady has a pretty good voice.

Buttons - Sia -- It's pretty much what you said it is! :P

9)Starts with an extended instrumental section with vocals starting at about 1:12. This track is OK, but it almost feels too short, as if it ends too soon. I ended feeling a little disappointed to be honest :/

Random Firl - Late of The Pier -- Aww :( I just like the tune of this song. But I do agree about it being too short. You should check out the rest of their album... those tracks are longer. I promise.

10)I like this! It's catchy and fun and just experimental enough. Though the part where they repeat “for me” goes on for a little too long :D

A Thing For Me - Metronomy -- I actually wasn't gonna put this on because I didn't think you'd like the vocals as they can get annoying! I'm glad you did though.

11)Our first foray out of electronic music with this and some folk-y guitars and upbeat drums. His voice sounds really really familiar! Gah, this is gonna drive me crazy, I'm sure I know who this is! I like it anyway :D

Backstreet Lovers - The Crookes -- I loooove this song. I listened to it on repeat for like a week. So upbeat and summer. Glad you liked it.

12)The beginning to this sounds a lot like Grizzly Bear's “Ready, Able”, but it's not it. I like the trumpets in the intro. Singing about Gorbachev, interesting hehe. I really like the instrumental part starting at 1:48. One of my favourites so far.

Gorbachev - 41st and Home -- This song is actually by a band that some guy I barely know from first year uni is in. Anyways, he posted it on Facebook and I was super impressed. Great tune.

13)I like the guitars and the chorus on this one. Good, solid indie pop.

November Was White, December Was Grey - Say Hi -- Yeah! Like you said. Nice little tune. Glad you liked it!

14)This one has a laid back feel to it, with just an acoustic guitar and some piano at the beginning. The singer has a nice voice. The bass and drums that kick in around the 2 minute really lift the song, would've been a bit boring otherwise. I enjoyed it though, the singer has a good voice and he sings with a lot of soul, which is always good!

State Of The Union - David Ford -- Someone put this on a mixtape for me a long while ago, and since then it's become one of my favorite songs. And yeah the passion in the song is what really gets me. And if you youtube this, he plays all the instruments. It's super impressive.

15)Not too keen on this chap's voice I must say, it sounds like he's struggling to get the words out =/ The music itself is OK though, but I don't know how often I'd listen to it.

Her Black Eyes - Little Comets -- Aww! Bad closer! I guess I can see how you think his voice sounds forced. But :( that you didn't like it.

So, thank you mixtape maker for the effort you put it! I enjoyed it a lot overall. I'd really like to know the tracklist, especially tracks 1, 3, 10, 11, 12 and 14.
