I'm actually quite psyched for the new stuff now after seeing the Glasto performance. Charlie Brown was ace and the first one, MX or Hurts like Heaven or woteva the fuck it's called. Even Wa-wa-wa-wa-waterfall wasn't so awful (tho it's still far away from being good)

Anyway, I've been on a bit of a Coldplay downer lately but the show tonight made me fall back in love with them a little bit :wacky: Not quite at the hyperventilating fangirly level, but I'm a pleasantly happy Coldplay fan again. :D

I decided to watch the livestream. Uh, hardly a shit performance in my opinion. I thought it was excellent. I was happily shocked that they played Shiver and Everything's Not Lost, and still kept Life Is For Living. GPASUYF sounded absolutely amazing. I thought the encore was so-so because it consisted of three of my least favorite songs, Clocks, Fix You, and ETIAW (the last song, a terrible choice), but it WAS Glastonbury after all so they're going to play their biggest hits.

That made me happy. They need to do more performances like that. A good balance of old and new.

4 Parachutes songs, 1 X&Y song... not bad :P

Lots of love on twitter for their set tonight. More than U2 last night it seems.

Poor X&Y.

I think the crowd was really lacking.

They played a nice bunch of songs. I think Chris was a bit off today though. So that in the crowd made it less than expected.

But throwing in the old songs was definitely the best thing about today.

Don't know what show you were watching. The crowd were having the time of their lives. Never heard so many songs sung by the crowd in one performance in all these years. The old songs were good but they didn't gee the crowd up the way Viva La Vida did or Charlie Brown.

it was a good crowd considering it's a festival show.

I thought the crowd was pretty good, drowning them out during Yellow, the Scientest, et al. Heard them loud and saw lots of people belting out the songs at the top of their lungs.

Yeah they were loud during VLV and the Scientist, but overall they didn't seem too loud TBH.

Maybe it was just the mixing this year? Or maybe cause Chris didn't do too many singalongs.

But if you compare to Glasto 2005, crowd was way louder. But he did do extra little singalongs in '05.

Everything's Not Lost for example. 2005 version kicked this one's arse.

I guess overall. Their performance was good (other than Chris' little rant). He seemed a bit nervous too but that's alright. And the setlist was good with the old songs. I guess it just didn't feel as epic cause of the crowd. I dunno. I do have a bit of a love affair with Glasto 2005, so there's that too.

I can't believe they played Everything's Not Lost. I wish they would have done Amsterdam, but beggars can't be choosers!

just finished watching, and can't say I didn't thoroughly enjoy it. Have to say I enjoyed the new songs (barring etiaw, which was a huge buzzkill at the end) more than a bunch of the older tracks. Though I prefer tele's, switching to that strat and whammy bar may have been one of the best things Jonny's done in quite a while.

I just finished watching it, only part I fast forwarded was ETIAW. Other than that, it was pretty amazing.

I actually stooped to silly fangirl level and e-mailed Anchorman on Monday requesting it. Obviously I wasn't persuasive enough.

cant' stop listening to Hurts like Heaven :|
I can't tell if you're being serious or sarcastic. :|

On another note...

I watched the YouTube video for Charlie Brown, and before the performance gets underway there is a warning at the bottom: THIS PERFORMANCE MAY CONTAIN STROBE LIGHTING

So then I watch the video for Politik. About 40 seconds in, after the beginning part with all the crazy flashing lights, then it says THIS PERFORMANCE CONTAINS STROBE LIGHTING. Not "may contain", it says "contains". No shit Sherlock, thanks for the warning after I've had my seizure.

Wow , I fell really out of news ...

So how many new songs are there now ??

Are they any good ?

I'm actually fully serious. I don't know how many times I've played both versions of Glastonbury & Rock am Ring Festival :|

...definitely my favorite of their new songs.

Look at you... A natural fanboy!!

Oddly enough, I seriously don't get the love for "Hurts Like Heaven". If we're talking new pop efforts, I like "Charlie Brown" a lot more. It may not be the Coldplay of old, but it's a far more enjoyable pop affair than "Viva la Major Lost Is a Waterfall 42".

I didn't catch the live madness yesterday thanks to work, but I caught the broadcast on Palladia later. I actually had a great time watching it...until VLV started and I dozed off for the remainder of it. :P (Transitioning from "Politik" into "Viva la Vida" is like transitioning from sex into a punch in the gut.)

Michael, your analogies.
