Just got off work and heard PoC for the first time. I was one of the people who refused to listen to the live version of PoC because no decent quality versions existed (everyone who thought those vids were listenable were lying to themselves). So it was my first time really hearing any of it and...I hate it. I'm not a fan of Rihanna, but it's not Rihanna who makes the song so awful. It's the terrible synth usage like on Paradise, plus a bunch of lazy "ooooh ooooooh ooooh" lyrics.

But to me: it sounds exactly like everything else I'd hear on Top 40 radio if I flicked it on right now. It sounds like Rihanna feat. Chris Martin more than Coldplay feat. Rihanna.

Took the words right out of my mouth. If this was on a Rihanna album, I would hate it less. But it's not.

 

This turned out to be the worst birthday ever after all. >.<

Nah, instead there's just a bunch of "lalalalalalalala" and "oohoohoohoohooh", which are just lazy filler lyrics that occupy most modern Coldplay songs.

Album leaked.

The album actually isn't that bad - turns out the songs we had before the leak were just mediocre. In fact, my album rankings would be as follows:

 

1) A Rush of Blood to the Head (8 out of 10)

2) Parachutes (7.5 out of 10)

3) Mylo Xyloto (7 out of 10)

4) Viva la Vida (6.5 out of 10)

5) X&Y (3 out of 10)

First impressions and it's definitely better than expected, but still very hit-and-miss.

ok after 12 hours and it being evening now instead of 5 am i can say, i don't really like the song any more

 

they should have given it to rihanna as she is the best thing about the song

and at last im forced to agree that ETIAW is better the para paradise and POC

 

i think we should forget about the coldplay we fell in love with, why don't they get it that if we want to listen to the same old pop tunes we'll listen to lady gaga and Hurts

I love this thread. I can actually express that Princess of China makes me want to shoot myself in the face without being called racist (which is the most ridiculous comment I've ever heard, by the way).

 

It's so horrible. When I heard the live version I thought it was horrible but I thought "Hey, the video's not good quality. Maybe I'm not hearing right."

I really dislike all the effects they added to Chris' voice in Hurts Like Heaven. Just started to listen to the album

 

The quality is pretty good I think but I'm not an audio quality freak so I don't know
