Video From Pinkpop (The Netherlands) that I found on Youtube.

Sounded awesome 'in real live' too! ;)

These Lyrics seem most accurate for this particular video:

I stole a key,

And took a car downtown where the lost boys meet;

I took a car downtown and took what they offered me

To set me free

I saw the lights go down at the end of the scene,

I saw the lights go down and standing in front of me

My scarecrow dreams,

When they smash my heart into smithereens,

Be a bright red rose combustin' the concrete;

Be a cartoon heart

Light a fire, by the smoke

And light a fire, flame in/flamin' my heart

We'll run wild,

We'll be glowin' in the dark

We'll be glowin' in the dark

All the boys, all the girls,

All the madness in the world

All the boys, all the girls,

All the madness that occurs

All the highs, all the lows

As the room is spinnin', goooo

They'll run riot (depends on the version),

And start glowin' in the dark

So we saaaaaw...

An innocent riot??

We'll be glowin' in the dark

To back up that thought about the first part:

We'll be glowing in the dark

We'll be glowing in the dark

All the boys, all the girls,

All the madness in the world

All the boys, all the girls,

All the madness that occurs

All the highs, all the lows

They'll run, wired

And start glowing in the dark

So we saw, as innocent- wired

We'll be glowing in the dark

it might seem strange/far-fetched/ridiculous but

1. It's what I hear when I listen to it. Every single time.

2. It makes sense to me. They run wired as in a) they're drunk/. Goes along with "I took what they offered me, to set me free". b) they're wired by the media. Attached by a cord if you will.

Alcohol frees you of inhibitions to an extent. I've never drank but it also gives you a feeling of inebriation and a sensation like you're warmer than you actually are (if I'm not mistaken). So maybe that's the sensation they get because they feel hot- as if they were glowing in the dark. It seems that they're writing about a youth culture of the 60's and 70's to an extent and this would partially make sense to me, anyway. Not exactly Coldplay-like but still. I don't think they're always going to write the same songs over and over again- this would be different.

Wired in this sense could also mean like they're essentially just lights of the media, plugged in to a socket and used/ told to believe everything and controlled by a society of idiocracy and non-sense. They're strung on a cord and showing off the media's

brilliance' (stupidity). If they were just another pair of lights used by the media, that would explain why they're "glowing in the dark". I think it would be a good metaphor, though I'm apt to be wrong.

Then again I could also see what someone suggested earlier in the threat as well "we'll run riot." It makes sense with the whole anti-media thing but it kinda reminds me too much of Viva. I think it could be right though- like they're glowing in the dark with fires and torches.

I do love this song though either way. I hope it ends up as a singleee!

Has anyone tried slowing down the very first part of the song to see what Chris is saying?

I slowed it down. You can clearly tell it's Chris' voice once slowed down but I don't think he is saying anything. I just think he is singing all choir like. Just some "Oooohs" and "aaaaahs".

You know, I personally like the name Cartoon Heart better, although Charlie Brown is pretty cool.

I think it has a lot to do with which one you heard first. I heard "Charlie Brown" first and I wouldn't like it to be called "Cartoon Heart" now.

Listen to this version. The mix is very clear.

Look at Chris's mouth when he sings the "Light a fire" part. It is very clear that he is saying "Light a fire, fly the ______" Now, that could either be "spark" or "smoke" in the blank. To me, it looks more like he is saying "spark".

In the first part of "All the boys, All the girls..." He is clearly saying "All that matters in the world". The second time is "All the madness that occurs."

I'm not sure about the "as the room is spinning" part. I might hear "cold" or "gold" at the end of that line.

I'm also not sure about the "So we saw/So it's all an innocent _____". I hear "riot", "wire", "liar"....

Sorry to post again, but i just listened to the version from Rock Wertcher, and he clearly says "so it's all an innocent wire" (or another word that starts with a "w" that sounds exactly like "wire")

At first i thought "that really doesn't make sense."

But then, I realized, with the whole "one eye watching you" theme they've got going...perhaps this could refer to wiretapping?

This song is about an uprising against the group described in Major Minus, a villainous group controlling society. This affects the main character in the song (perhaps named Mylo Xyloto, just my opinion) and he realizes that his life is being controlled (cited in Hurts Like Heaven). He then joins the Lost Boys (or Car Kids) in order to retaliate.

I was at Lollapalooza and as Chris sang the lyric "we'll run wires", an image of glow in the dark wires appeared on the screen. The lyric "We'll be glowing in the dark" may allude to the fact that the Car Kids will stealthily use wire taps to fight those associated with Major Minus and/or refer to the fact that the actions they make to overthrown this organization will make the Car Kids the hopeful light amidst dark times.

wow, very nice analysis. so i'm wondering whether the whole album is going to be a story through music :)

though i definitely think it's "we'll run riot"

I still think about this line:

I'll be a bright red rose combusting the concrete

After hearing so many different versions i think it's:

I'll be a bright red rose come bursting the concrete

When something in the world is covered with concrete (wich is made of smithereens) you see it often times, that there will be a natural thing, like a flower or a tree that comes bursting after an amount of time. The Lyrics after that do not point on a real fire, it's more in a metaphorical sense. So i think it is more a trigger to act brave when you see that the nature of beings is not to be covered or restricted.

I think it makes sense, referring to the work of xylo on http://xylo.me
