Thom Yorke confirmed to play at Latitude Festival[/size]

Posted on June 8th, 2009.

Thom Yorke has just been confirmed to play a solo set at the Latitude Festival. Apart from several media performances, the Radiohead frontman hasn’t played a solo set before.

Thom will be playing a solo set on the Obelisk Arena at noon on Sunday July 19th. Ticket infor for the Festival at Henham Park, Southworld, Sunrise Coast, Suffolk is available at the Latitude Festival website.

  • Lol I haven't been here in 5 years but I decided to pop my head back in for some nostalgia. Seems like this was my last post so here's an update... I finally saw Radiohead live in Manchester in 2017 a

perhaps... I definitely wouldn't be surprised if he played Super Collider or Cymbal Rush there, as it was that he played those songs solo on the band's past tour

An acoustic rendition of Super Collider would be awesome.

I still haven't listened to Thom York's solos.

I only listened to Jonny's, & not even all of them!

Any recommendations to start with?

& for Jonny?

You post here much? See you joined in 06.

no.. not so much.. i used to post on coldplay's official message board a long time ago, with parachutes-ish design?? not sure what happened to that board though - and then i kind of stopped keeping up.

to be honest part of the reason i come here is to get some radiohead news, via this thread; i post at atease too but there are so many asses there

EDIT: btw is that Emily Haines in your avatar?? i love it... love her she's so cooool

@ricardo..well it's an awesome song!! heheheh

do you reckon he'd play songs off The Eraser?? that would be awesome..

@ Ab: i'm guessing you've heard thom's solo album right?? i like the live version of cymbal rush a lot

No, I haven't!

But I just listened to some songs (The Clock + the acoustic version, Cymbal Rush...).....genius!

I think I'll get it tomorrow or something, I got hooked already!

Cool, yeah I know what you mean about asses on atease. There are a few here obviously, but for the most part people are awesome.

And yes, that is Emily Haines :) . Its an avi from the Sick Muse video.

atease is very entertaining. as long as its not you there in the snake pit... better to watch from a distance

Go grab the Eraser, it's a great record. Harrowdown Hill and Cymbal Rush are my favourite songs off of it.

There's a new DAS post! This time though, now WASTE has a digital download store, so now you guys can buy the 2nd In Rainbows Disc

http://www.radiohead.com/deadairspace/

This is really cool, not just because they have their own digital store, but also the band I remember in interviews have talked of perhaps finishing a song and then releasing it right away. Hopefully the band will do that!

Just thinking about it, it's going to be really easy for them to release something. I mean now that they have their own download store, they don't have to wait like 4-5 months for a regular release. Thinking about it this is so cool, because now it's like the band is giving the opportunity to release all their albums like In Rainbows in the sense that one day we might check DAS and something might be up!

I've now tried to listen to "In Rainbows" several times but have found it so hard-going and virtually depressing.

There don't seem to be any hooks or melodies to latch onto, and Thom Yorke's voice does nothing for me whatsoever.

A lot of the time the music comes across as "experimental" with no discernible structure.

Maybe some of the other albums aren't like this, but all I can say is that "In Rainbows" is definitely not my "cup of tea".

Just felt the urge to vent.................................

Just wanted to quote the new DAS post. :)

Mark, no probs if you don't like IR. Perhaps you should listen to it a few more times, it's not easy to get into Radiohead.

I'm not "bashing" Radiohead. I have nothing against them per se.

It's just that I generally like music that makes me happy and puts me in a good mood, and Radiohead don't seem to do that.;)

yeah. it's funny you mention that because when I first listened to the band (when my brother's friends showed me), I really didn't like them because I thought that they were the most depressing band I'd ever heard. It took a few years later for me to rediscover them, and for the past few years i've been hooked

this probably is not a smart idea, seeing just how many radiohead fans are on this board, but i completely agree with mr. mc. squared. i've got nothing but respect for radiohead, but i can not listen to more than three radiohead songs in a row. they're a good band, there's no doubt about it, but not really meant for me. but keep radioheading ;]

I said something like this in February.
